CarMax opens 15,000 square-feet store in Warwick, its first in Rhode Island

Company Celebrates with Community Donations

RICHMOND, Virginia, 2015-6-16 — /EPR Retail News/ — CarMax (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, officially opened its first store in Rhode Island located at 153 Bald Hill Road in Warwick. The store is more than 15,000 square-feet, occupies more than 8 acres and stocks more than 300 used vehicles.

“We are excited that our growth has allowed us to bring the CarMax experience to the state of Rhode Island,” said Tom Folliard, president and CEO of CarMax. “Our team can’t wait to help local residents find their perfect vehicle.”

In celebration of the Warwick store opening, CarMax donated $5,000 to the YMCA of Cranston. The nonprofit was selected by local associates for its positive impact on the community by providing programs that help families and individuals seeking healthy lifestyles and wellness.

The CarMax Foundation also is providing a $10,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Warwick. This grant will support the Norwood Branch’s Keystone Club, a character and leadership program for teens focusing on academic success, career preparation and community service. The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $25 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003. In addition to the grant, 30 CarMax associates volunteered at the club where they repainted hallways and restrooms as the first of many future volunteer activities in the community.

“We have great admiration for these organizations and look forward to building relationships with community partners in the area,” said Ric Raposo, location general manager of the Warwick CarMax store. “Our associates take pride in our involvement in the communities where we live, work and play.”
