Alshaya brands Starbucks and Babel recognised for their world-class customer service in Kuwait’s Public Relations Association’s annual awards

Shuwaikh, Kuwait, 2018-Feb-19 — /EPR Retail News/ — Two brands operated by retail franchise operator M.H. Alshaya, Starbucks and Babel, have been recognised for their commitment to providing world-class customer service in Kuwait’s Public Relations Association’s annual awards.

The awards, under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, saw Starbucks win awards for ‘Excellence in Customer Service’, for best practices in providing customer service in the café category; and ‘Excellence in Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility’. Babel won an award for ‘Excellence in Website Services.’ The awards highlight the brands’ ability to follow up on customer feedback in a quick and effective way.

An Alshaya representative received the award from Her Excellency Hind Al-Sabih, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour and Minister of State for Economic Affairs, at a ceremony also attended by Sheikh Khalid Al Abdullah Al Sabah, Head of Amiri Protocols, and Jamal Al Nasrullah, Head of Kuwait’s Public Relations Association.

Kuwait’s Public Relations Association aims to recognise excellent customer service across the public and private sectors.

Bahrain, Middle East, 2017-Nov-30 — /EPR Retail News/ — Award-winning Australian chef Johnny Di Francesco has debuted his 400 Gradi Italian restaurant brand in the Middle East with the opening of the first restaurant at The Avenues Bahrain, in partnership with international retail franchise operator M.H. Alshaya Co.

The opening of the first 400 Gradi restaurant outside Australia was celebrated by Mr. Domenico Bellato, Italy’s Ambassador to Bahrain; Ian Toal, the President of Alshaya’s Food Division; Nigel Doughty, the Vice President of Food Retail at Alshaya; and chef Di Francesco, the founder of 400 Gradi.

400 Gradi is a Naples-inspired Italian restaurant that was created by chef Di Francesco, the first Australian ever trained in Naples to the Associazione Verace (AVPN) and President of AVPN Australia. It offers a wide variety of deliciously handcrafted Italian cuisine, using the finest Italian ingredients to give guests the most complete Neapolitan experience outside of Naples.

In 2014, chef Di Francesco was named the ‘world’s best pizza maker’ during the World Championships in Italy for his authentic Napoletana-style pizza, which is cooked for only 90 seconds at a temperature of 400 degrees – hence the name 400 Gradi.

Along with this Napoletana-style pizza, the restaurant offers an array of freshly cooked traditional Italian dishes, including its famous handmade gnocchi, succulent lamb and pistachio cutlets, traditional artisan Italian gelato and delicious desserts.

Commenting on the new partnership, chef Di Francesco said: “This is a groundbreaking milestone for the Gradi Group. Expanding to the Middle East is an exciting step forward, especially with Alshaya, who are a pioneer in franchising international brands. GLRC Award recognises Alshaya’s relationships with global food brands

Kuwaiti students with disabilities celebrated completion of internship programmes with Alshaya

 

Kuwait, 2017-Aug-15 — /EPR Retail News/ — “Thank you, Alshaya, for the amazing opportunity! Please don’t stop supporting us!” With these words, 22 Kuwaiti students with disabilities this week celebrated the completion of successful internship programmes with retail franchise operator M.H. Alshaya Co. and its brands.

Now in its eighth year, the internship is a collaboration between Alshaya and Kuwait’s Society for the Guardians of the Disabled (KSGD) that helps students with disabilities to gain the required skills and confidence to operate in a work environment.

Andrew Stott Regional Learning and Development Manager said “This year’s students have made an incredible contribution serving our customers and understanding what it means to ‘Be Alshaya’. We look forward to welcoming them back as customers and potential team members.”

For over four weeks, the students worked part-time and received supervised retail training at several branches of Starbucks, Debenhams and Mothercare.

At a closing ceremony at The Avenues this week, certificates were presented by KSGD Chairwoman Rehab Boresili; the Honorary Chairperson of the Kuwait Sport Club for the Physically Disabled, Sheikha Sheikha Al-Sabah; the General Manager of the Public Authority of the Disabled, Dr Shafeka Al-Awadhi; in addition to representatives from Alshaya.

“This internship programme has helped our students gain a different perspective to their futures and careers,” said Mrs. Huda Alkhaledi, General Supervisor at KSGD. “We’re deeply grateful for Alshaya’s continued support.”

Alshaya’s partnership with the KSGD internship programme began in 2010, initially offering candidates part-time work experience in Starbucks branches across the country. Alshaya’s partnership with KSGD is part of its wider commitment to the community to develop the skills and talents of young Kuwaitis and providing them with an equal chance to learn and develop.

400 Gradi, a Naples-inspired Italian restaurant, is the creation of chef Johnny Di Francesco, the first Australian ever trained in Naples to the Associazione Verace (AVPN) and President of AVPN Australia. Kuwait, 2017-Jul-24 — /EPR Retail News/ — Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza, the United States’ leading fast-casual artisanal pizza chain, has announced an exclusive development agreement with Kuwait-based retail franchise operator M.H. Alshaya Co. to build and operate multiple Blaze Pizza restaurants across the Middle East and Northern Africa.

The agreement provides for the development of 100 restaurants in 11 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, and Morocco, with the first five restaurants scheduled to open in Kuwait and the UAE in 2018. The partnership with Alshaya marks the first expansion of Blaze Pizza outside of North America and represents the largest development deal in the brand’s history.

“There is really only one ‘best way’ to take your brand overseas and that is to partner with Alshaya,” said Rick Wetzel, co-founder of Blaze Pizza. “For some time, we’ve been receiving requests to bring our brand to the Middle East. Now that we’ve partnered with Alshaya, we’re happy to say that we will be there soon.”

The build-your-own pizza chain, known for its chef-driven recipes and casually hip restaurants, recently opened its milestone 200th restaurant and has agreements in place to open more than 400 additional locations across the US, Canada, the Middle East and Northern Africa. The agreement with Alshaya includes the development of both traditional and delivery-only formats.

Nine Alshaya customers take home over KD 60,000 in quarterly prize draw

Kuwait, 2017-Jul-04 — /EPR Retail News/ — Nine more of Alshaya’s most loyal customers have joined the growing list of winners in the PRIVILEGES CLUB Super Draw, sharing prizes worth more than KD 60,000 in the most recent draw.

One lucky winner walked away with KD15,000 in the Super Draw, with three people winning KD 7,500 each and five winners of KD 5,000 each, all payable in Alshaya Gift Cards. The draw was made in the presence of a representative of the Ministry of Commerce.

The Super Draw is one of two prize draws that form part of the benefits enjoyed by members of PRIVILEGES CLUB. In the Monthly Draw, members earn one prize draw entry for every 5KD they spend at any of Alshaya’s stores, cafes and restaurants. Each month, 20 members win prizes worth KD 11,000. The Super Draw is held each quarter, and is open to members who spend more than KD1,000 in that quarter.

Alshaya’s 80 retail and dining brands include Starbucks, H&M, Mothercare, Debenhams, Victoria’s Secret, Harvey Nichols, M.A.C., Bath & Body Works, P.F. Chang’s, The Cheesecake Factory, Boots, Pottery Barn and KidZania. Starbucks customers who are members of My Starbucks Rewards can earn entries into the prize draws if their MSR registered phone number is the same as their PRIVILEGES CLUB number.

The next Super Draw winners will be announced in August, based on their spending in April, May, and June.

Kuwait, 2017-May-11 — /EPR Retail News/ — International retail franchise operator M.H. Alshaya Co. has announced its franchise partnership with acclaimed chef Thomas Keller to launch the first three Bouchon Bakeries outside the United States in Dubai, Kuwait and Qatar this year.

The first Bouchon Bakery opened in July 2003 by Keller, the award-winning American chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author, as a place that would foster community and provide one-of-a-kind breads in Yountville, California. Since then, the bakery has quickly blossomed beyond the Napa Valley into an important landmark throughout the United States which offers a genuine style of classic French boulangeries and a wide selection of artisanal breads and classic desserts inspired by Chef Keller’s childhood memories and of his time in France.

Keller is the first and only American chef to have been awarded simultaneous three star Michelin ratings for two different restaurants. He currently holds seven Michelin stars: three at Per Se, three at The French Laundry, and one at Bouchon Bistro.

Bouchon Bakery also features an array of sweet delights including classic viennoiserie, such as croissants and pain au chocolat, breakfast items like muffins and streusel cakes as well as an ever-changing selection of tarts, cookies, sandwiches, quiche, soups and salads. Bouchon Bakery exclusively carries the rich and complex Thomas Keller Espresso blend, the product of a 15-year collaboration between Chef Keller and Equator Coffees &Teas.
