Halle, Belgium, 2017-Oct-25 — /EPR Retail News/ — On Wednesday 25 October, Bio-Planet, DreamLand and Dreambaby open the doors of a brand-new joint location in Mol. The former Center Shop made way for a new construction big enough for the three Colruyt Group stores and good for about thirty jobs. On Tuesday 24 October, all neighbours are welcome for a drink, a snack and a guided tour at the opening reception between 6 and 8 pm.

Advantages of joint location
By putting up different store formats on the same location, Colruyt Group wants to work even more efficiently and cost-consciously. The group wants to stimulate synergy between the stores that have a lot in common despite their different product ranges. The retailer uses the so-called combi-sites to make the lives of its customers easier by meeting their different needs. The combination of Bio-Planet, DreamLand and Dreambaby opens on the same location for the first time. Colruyt Group already opened another combi-site earlier in Namur (2016 – Colruyt, DreamLand, Dreambaby and Colruyt Group Academy) and in Charleroi (August 2017 – Bio-Planet and Dreambaby).

Low-energy store for Bio-Planet
For Bio-Planet it is the 27th store in Belgium and the 2nd in the Kempen, after Turnhout. Bio-Planet offers a complete supermarket supply with a little extra. It guarantees a carefully selected organic, ecological and healthy range of products. On a store surface of 650 m², customers can find a unique supply of more than 6,000 products among which quite a lot of gluten- and lactose-free references and more than 500 flavours in the fresh products department. Every month, Bio-Planet introduces about sixty new products to inspire the customer to consume consciously.

Bio-Planet Mol was built with sustainable techniques and materials and offers a pleasant shopping experience with fifteen competent co-workers at the customer’s service. Toys“R”Us, Inc. Files Voluntary Chapter 11 Petitions in U.S. and Intends to Seek Protection under CCAA in Canada

WAYNE, NJ, 2017-Sep-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — Toys“R”Us, Inc. (“the Company”) today (September 18, 2017) announced that the Company and certain of its U.S. subsidiaries and its Canadian subsidiary have voluntarily filed for relief under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Richmond, VA. In addition, the Company’s Canadian subsidiary today intends to seek protection in parallel proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (“CCAA”) in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The Company intends to use these court-supervised proceedings to restructure its outstanding debt and establish a sustainable capital structure that will enable it to invest in long-term growth and fuel its aspirations to bring play to kids everywhere and be a best friend to parents.

The Company’s operations outside of the U.S. and Canada, including its approximately 255 licensed stores and joint venture partnership in Asia, which are separate entities, are not part of the Chapter 11 filing and CCAA proceedings.

The Company’s approximately 1,600 Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us stores around the world – the vast majority of which are profitable – are continuing to operate as usual, providing customers with great service and a curated assortment of merchandise in the toy and baby categories. Customers can also continue to shop for the toy and baby products they are looking for online on the Company’s newly launched www.toysrus.com and www.babiesrus.com web stores. Customers should expect the Company’s loyalty programs, including its Rewards“R”Us, Geoffrey’s Birthday List and Babies“R”Us Registry, to continue as normal.

The Company has received a commitment for over $3.0 billion in debtor-in-possession (“DIP”) financing from various lenders, including a JPMorgan-led bank syndicate and certain of the Company’s existing lenders, which, subject to Court approval, is expected to immediately improve the Company’s financial health and support its ongoing operations during the court-supervised process. Toys“R”Us is committed to working with its vendors to help ensure that inventory levels are maintained and products continue to be delivered in a timely fashion.

In conjunction with the Chapter 11 process in the U.S., the Company has filed a number of customary motions with the bankruptcy court seeking authorization to support its operations during the restructuring process and ensure a smooth transition into Chapter 11 without disruption, including authority to continue payment of employee wages and benefits, honor customer programs, and pay vendors and suppliers in the ordinary course for all goods provided on or after the filing date.

ShopRite and Huggies partner to donate half-million diapers to the National Diaper Bank Network

Keasbey, NJ, 2017-Aug-28 — /EPR Retail News/ — ShopRite is partnering with the Huggies Brand on a plan to donate up to a half-million diapers to the National Diaper Bank Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing diapers to babies in need.

ShopRite and Huggies will donate a day’s worth of diapers to the National Diaper Bank Network each time a customer purchases any size Huggies diapers at ShopRite stores or online, through ShopRite’s mobile app and ShopRite from Home service. Qualifying purchase periods run now through Sept. 2, and again from Sept. 24 through Oct. 7.

According to a study commissioned by Huggies, one in three American families struggles to afford the diapers needed to keep their baby clean, dry, and healthy. To help raise awareness of this hidden consequence of poverty known as “diaper need,” and provide much needed baby essentials to families, ShopRite is partnering now with Huggies to donate diapers.

“Since 2010, our No Baby Unhugged program has donated more than 200 million diapers and wipes to families in need, and yet there is still more to be done,” said Eleonora Daireaux, vice president of Huggies North America. “We are excited to partner with ShopRite and the National Diaper Bank Network to help raise awareness for this issue, and donate up to half a million diapers to provide families with the resources they need to care for their babies.”

Meijer voluntarily recalls its Wave Zone One Piece Zip Infant Swimsuits due to possible choking hazard

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., 2017-Aug-09 — /EPR Retail News/ — Meijer is announcing a voluntary recall of its Wave Zone One Piece Zip Infant Swimsuits produced and sold exclusively at Meijer. Meijer recently recalled approximately 22,246 of the Wave Zone One-Piece Zip Swimsuits because the snaps on the bottom of the suit can detach and pose a choking hazard.

The swimsuit sold for $14 between January 1, 2017 and July 17, 2017. There have been no known injuries reported. Meijer is recalling the product as a precautionary measure.

The newborn, infant and toddler swimsuit has a zipper on the back and four snaps on the bottom. The swimsuit sold in the following four color styles: blue and gray with a shark; white and navy stripes with anchor pattern; pink and teal with a strawberry; pink and white with a fish pattern. The styles were available in the following sizes: 0-3m, 3-6m, 6-9m, 12m, 18m, and 24m. “Wave Zone” and “Made in China” are printed on the inner collar. The tracking number located on the sewn-in label on the inner side seam is “NOV 2016 021-14328.”

Babies“R”Us partners with Huggies to support the No Baby Unhugged initiative

Wayne, NJ, 2017-Jul-03 — /EPR Retail News/ — One in three U.S. parents suffer from the inability to provide fresh, clean diapers for their baby, according to a study by Huggies. To help raise awareness of the nation’s growing diaper need, Babies“R”Us is partnering with Huggies to support the No Baby Unhugged initiative to help ensure some of the 5.3 million babies in the U.S. who live in poor or low-income families benefit from the basic necessities such as diapers and wipes, that all babies need. During the months of July, August and September, Babies“R”Us and Huggies will donate a day’s worth of diapers to the National Diaper Bank Network (up to 1.5 million diapers), when a customer purchases or adds a Value Box of Huggies diapers to their registry in-store or online at Babiesrus.com.

By purchasing or adding a Value Box of Huggies diapers to a registry, Babies“R”Us and Huggies will donate one day’s worth of diapers (up to 1.5 million) to the National Diaper Bank Network, particularly in states that need it most, including New York, Florida and Texas. The No Baby Unhugged program was developed by Huggies in 2010 and works to combat diaper need – the inability to provide fresh, clean diapers for baby. According to Huggies’ Every Little Bottom study1 , diaper need is a struggle that one in three American families face, often times leading to health risks in children caused by reuse of soiled diapers, as well as child development delays due to exclusion from early childhood education programs.

WOONSOCKET, R.I., 2017-Apr-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — Today (April 19, 2017) CVS Pharmacy (NYSE:CVS), America’s leading retail pharmacy, took a major step forward in advancing its efforts to address chemicals of consumer concern by announcing the removal of parabens, phthalates and the most prevalent formaldehyde donors across nearly 600 beauty and personal care products from its store brand CVS Health, Beauty 360, Essence of Beauty, and Blade product lines. The Promise Organic line of store brand products also does not contain any of these ingredients. CVS Pharmacy will stop shipping store brand products that don’t meet these standards to distribution centers by the end of 2019.

As a company driven by its purpose of helping people on their path to better health, this latest action is a significant milestone in its journey toward more sustainable products that satisfy consumer expectations. The company has also published its full list of restricted chemicals by product category here.

“We are committed to providing our customers with the safe, efficacious products that they are looking for,” said Cia Tucci, vice president of store brands and Quality Assurance at CVS Health.  “We listened when customers voiced their desire for products that still provide the benefits they need with fewer ingredients of concern. Today’s announcement is a natural step in the evolution of our comprehensive approach to chemical safety.”

While all store brand products have always been subject to stringent standards of safety, quality and environmental responsibility and – at a minimum – meet all federal and state requirements, customer feedback has driven this move to eliminate parabens, phthalates and the most prevalent formaldehyde donors.  In addition to listening to customers, CVS Health has also engaged with industry experts and key advocacy groups to ensure that product quality can be maintained through this transition. Over the past several years, CVS Health has engaged with the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families (SCHF) coalition and its Mind the Store campaign, an organization working to reduce the use of toxic chemicals in consumer products, strengthen the understanding of chemicals of consumer concern and inform opportunities for retailers to advance chemical safety in consumer products.

All Lots of Hyland’s Baby Teething Products Recalled due to Mislabeling

 

Los Angeles, California, 2017-Apr-17 — /EPR Retail News/ — Standard Homeopathic Company is recalling all lots of Hyland’s Baby Teething Tablets and Hyland’s Baby Nighttime Teething Tablets sold in retail stores to the consumer level. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has concluded that the medicines have been found to contain inconsistent amounts of belladonna alkaloids that may differ from the calculated amount on the products’ labels.

FDA believes that belladonna represents a serious health hazard to children and that the effects of belladonna are unpredictable. The Agency has stated to the Company, “There is no known safe dose or toxic dose of belladonna in children because of the many factors that affect it.”

The Hyland’s Baby Teething Tablets and Hyland’s Baby Nighttime Teething Tablets were used to provide temporary relief of teething symptoms in children. The recall includes all products that retailers may have had in stock. The Company stopped making and shipping the medicines nationwide in October 2016. This recall ensures the removal of any possible remaining products that may be on store shelves. No other Standard Homeopathic Company/Hyland’s products are affected by this recall.

“We initiated this recall even after discontinuing production last fall because it is appropriate to do what our regulating agency has formally requested,” said J.P. Borneman, PhD, chairman and CEO of Standard Homeopathic Company. “We are committed to maintaining and earning the trust consumers have placed in Standard Homeopathic Company. We have worked for 114 years to build relationships with our consumers. We intend to preserve that tradition of trust.”

Standard Homeopathic Company is notifying its distributors and retailers by mail and is arranging for the return of all recalled products.  Consumers who have products which are being recalled should discard the product.

Consumers with questions regarding this recall can contact Standard Homeopathic Company by calling 1-800-991-3376 (Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time). Consumers should contact their physician or healthcare provider if they believe they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking or using this drug product.

Adverse reactions or quality problems experienced with the use of these products may be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail or by fax.

This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Silver Spring, 2017-Mar-10 — /EPR Retail News/ — Gerber Products Company of Florham Park, New Jersey, is initiating a voluntary recall of Cheese Ravioli Gerber® Pasta Pick-Ups® because the egg allergen is missing from the “Contains” statement. The full ingredient list on the package does list “egg” as an ingredient; however, the “Contains” statement, designed to further alert parents to allergens in the recipe, did not include “egg” as is required. Only consumers who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg are at risk of serious allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Cheese Ravioli Gerber® Pasta Pick-Ups® (UPC code: 159070) was distributed nationally through retail stores and ecommerce and is limited to the United States. This voluntary recall impacts all packages of the Cheese Ravioli variety of Gerber® Pasta Pick-Ups®. To date, no illness has been reported due to an allergic reaction to egg.

This labeling oversight was brought to our attention as a result of a consumer contact. Following our own internal review, we confirmed egg was included in the ingredient list, but was not listed in the “Contains” statement.  Gerber is in the process of updating its food package labels to make it easier for parents to identify foods that contain allergens such as egg, milk and wheat. On updated packages, this information can be found in the “Contains” statement as well as the ingredient list.

Toys“R”Us appoints Cornell Boggs as its EVP and General Counsel

He will report directly to Chairman and CEO Dave Brandon.

Mr. Boggs joins Toys“R”Us from Dow Corning Corporation, a large multinational based in Midland, Michigan, where he served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In that role, he oversaw teams in Asia, Europe and Latin America, in addition to the U.S. and was responsible for Legal, Government Affairs, Compliance and Ethics.

In his new role, Mr. Boggs will be responsible for leading all legal, corporate governance and legislative matters for the company. He will provide advice and counsel to the Leadership Team on a wide-range of issues, including those focused on achieving the company’s growth objectives. Mr. Boggs will be a key advocate for the Toys“R”Us brand, ensuring the company’s interests are represented in the many places around the globe where it does business. He will also work closely with the Board of Directors in his position as Corporate Secretary.

Toys“R”Us announces the appointment of PepsiCo veteran, Carla Hassan as EVP, Global Chief Marketing Officer

She will report directly to Chairman and CEO Dave Brandon.

Ms. Hassan was most recently Senior Vice President, Brand Management for PepsiCo’s Global Beverage Group, where she was responsible for driving the growth agenda for brands including Pepsi, 7UP, Mountain Dew, and Gatorade.

In her new role, Ms. Hassan will be responsible for developing a global marketing strategy and a best-in-class team to drive growth for the toy and baby businesses. She will also lead the efforts to position and enhance the relevancy of the brand, leveraging relationships with vendors and licensing partners to increase positive consumer perception of the company.

Babies“R”Us hosts its popular Great Trade-In: Gear and Furniture Event through February 20

And for that one toddler, we’ve amassed SEVEN car seats, SIX strollers and FOUR play yards to be exact. Am I a hoarder? Maybe. But there’s my car, my husband’s, our house, the grandparents’ cars and homes…and so you see how we’ve come to this tally.

From the moment my daughter arrived, family members flooded us with words of great wisdom and century-old traditions – as well as their rusty old baby gear. Knowing some of these incredibly thoughtful garbage hand-me-downs were purchased 30+ years ago when I WAS BABY made us slightly apprehensive. My husband and I agreed that safety was our first priority and bought all-new gear to help ensure our daughter would be as safe as possible on-the-go and at home.

Two years later, my daughter is ready for a convertible car seat (FOUR OF THEM?!), a toddler bed and perhaps a double-stroller (come to think of it, that one can wait…). Here’s where our “collection” of old baby stuff pays off – literally – and so can yours!

We found out that it’s really important to toss old or second-hand gear (especially car seats) because even though they may LOOK fine, there might be a missing, cracked or broken piece that can jeopardize your child’s safety (think car accidents, crib sides that drop when pressure is applied, play yard gates that can pinch fingers!). Also – did you know car seats have expiration dates?

Moral of the story, my weekend will include taking down that 20-year-old crib currently taking up real estate in my future “yoga room” – a room where I wear yoga pants and watch Netflix.

H-E-B issues precautionary recall on its Baby Food 2 pack 4 oz. cups

San Antonio, TX, 2016-Nov-21 — /EPR Retail News/ — H-E-B announced today (November 18, 2016) that it has issued a precautionary recall of its entire H-E-B Baby Food 2 pack 4 oz. cups product line only. As of this afternoon, the H-E-B Baby Food 2 pack 4 oz. cups were removed from shelves out of an abundance of caution due to a customer report of a small piece of rubber found inside a single container of one variety of the product.

There have been no reports of injury or illness associated with this isolated incident, however the company is taking the issue very seriously and taking all necessary precautions.

“Though we have only received one report of a foreign material in H-E-B Baby Food 2 pack 4 oz. cups, as a company, we are committed to absolute and complete food safety.  As a result of that commitment, coupled with the fact that we are dealing with a children’s product, we have made the decision to pull all of our H-E-B Baby Food 2 pack 4 oz. cups from our shelves,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs.

H-E-B has launched a full investigation into the incident and is working closely with its H-E-B Baby Food manufacturer to ensure all safety measures are being taken when manufacturing the product. The FDA has been made aware of the recall.

H-E-B is encouraging customers who have any H-E-B Baby Food 2 pack 4 oz. cups in their pantries to return it to their nearest H-E-B store for a full refund.
