THIRD BOOK OF VERSE FROM THE PEOPLE’S POET MICK COLLISS

Now the author, poet, guest speaker, commentator and former vice-captain of the Australian Sudoku team has released a new collection of verse – his third.

His poems are dry, funny, occasionally moving and uniquely Australian.

Titled What Rhymes with George? his book contains over 40 different poems written over the past 10 years and covers a range of sports, occasions and anecdotes as well as tributes to individuals including Dennis Commetti, former Wallaby Nathan Sharpe and events like the San Jose copper mine rescue and the devastating Queensland flood.

“In 2003 the West Coast Eagles asked me to write a poem to commemorate Glen Jakovich’s 250th game,” Colliss said. “My first thought was: what rhymes with Jakovich?”, which became the title of my first book. I took it in to Radio 6PR in Perth and gave a copy to the legendary broadcaster, George Grljusich. He looked at the title and answered “Grljusich”.

“I thought of calling this book What Rhymes with Grljusich? in honour of the great man but thought it would be too hard to find on Google, so called it What Rhymes with George? instead.

“It’s much easier to spell.”

Colliss has been writing his unique form of poetry for many years and his work has appeared in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Sunday Times, Australian Rugby News and The West Australian. He has written on request for organisations including the West Coast Eagles, the WA Olympic Committee, the WACA, Western Force, Fremantle Dockers and Ronald McDonald House.

The foreword of What Rhymes with George? has been written by Basil Zempilas, most notably of Channel 7 and Radio 6PR.

Mick’s most recent commissioning was to write a poem for Tennis Australia, which he performed on centre court at Rod Laver Arena – with luminaries such as Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King, Frank Sedgman and Laver himself standing alongside – during the 2018 Australian Tennis Open.

Amazon announces fifth season of one-hour Prime Original series Bosch

ITV announces new partnerships with Costa Coffee and Co-op for Coronation Street

Co-op and Costa Coffee Storefronts To Appear On The Cobbles

LONDON, 2018-Feb-03 — /EPR Retail News/ — ITV today (Jan 30, 2018) announces that it has agreed two significant new partnerships with Costa Coffee and Co-op for Coronation Street. In an ITV first, viewers will see Co-op and Costa Coffee storefronts as part of a new extended Weatherfield set.

Both facades will be fully branded and open for business in Spring 2018 with other assets such as posters, bags and cups integrated across the iconic soap.

The new agreements also include digital and brand-licensing aspects for both brands, enabling them to use Coronation Street assets and extend the partnership off-air.

The McDonald’s All American Games unveils official rosters for the 41st annual Boys Game and 17th annual Girls Game

OAK BROOK, Ill., 2018-Jan-18 — /EPR Retail News/ — The McDonald’s All American Games today unveiled the official rosters for the 41st annual Boys Game and 17th annual Girls Game. The nation’s premier high school basketball all-star event will take place March 28 at Atlanta’s Philips Arena. Full team rosters are available at www.mcdaag.com.

The 2018 McDonald’s All American Boys teams feature the country’s top talent hailing from 17 different states. The East Team includes Duke-bound R.J. Barrett (Montverde Academy – Montverde, Fla.) and a pair of undecided highly ranked players, Zion Williamson (Spartanburg Day School – Spartanburg, S.C.), and Romeo Langford (New Albany High School – New Albany, Ind.).

The West Team will be led by Bol Bol (Findlay Prep – Henderson, Nev.), who will attend Oregon in the fall. He will be joined by highly ranked Duke commit, Cameron Reddish (Westtown School – West Chester, Pa.) and Simisola Shittu (Vermont Academy – Saxtons River, Vt.) who plans to suit up for Vanderbilt next season.

Of the 24 boys selected to be McDonald’s All Americans, two sets of current high school teammates will be featured and five have yet to make their college decisions. Of those who have decided, Duke and Kansas have the most commitments with three each, followed by Oregon, North Carolina and Vanderbilt with two each. The Boys Game begins at 7 p.m. EST March 28 and will air live on ESPN.

The 2018 Girls team includes seven players from Texas, the most represented state. The East Team includes Georgia native and Connecticut-bound Olivia Nelson-Ododa (Winder-Barrow High School – Winder, Ga.), highly ranked Shakira Austin (Riverdale Baptist School – Upper Marlboro, Md.), who has committed to Maryland and Izabela Nicoletti (Neuse Christian Academy – Raleigh, N.C.) who will play at Florida State next season.

The West Team will be led by another Connecticut recruit, top-ranked Christyn Williams (Central Arkansas Christian Schools – North Little Rock, Ark.). She will be joined by Texas-bound Charli Collier (Barbers Hill High School – Mont Belvieu, Texas) and Aquira DeCosta (Saint Mary’s High School – Stockton, Calif.) who has committed to play at Baylor.

Of the 24 girls selected to be McDonald’s All Americans, Baylor has the most McDonald’s All American players suiting up next fall with four commits followed by Tennessee with three commits. Like the Boys roster, this year’s Girls roster features two sets of high school teammates that will play against each other. The Girls Game begins at 5 p.m. EST March 28 and will air live on ESPN2.

This year’s teams were selected from more than 700 nominees by the McDonald’s All American Games selection committee, led by Wootten.

In addition to the 48 players selected, four prep coaches from Alaska, Connecticut and South Dakota were named coaches for the 2018 Games. Dawn Seiler of (Aberdeen Central High School – Aberdeen, S.D.), will lead the Girls East Team, while Jeannie Hebert-Truax of (Wasilla High School – Wasilla, Alaska) will coach the Girls West Team. John Mirabello of (Northwest Catholic High School – West Hartford, Conn.) will lead the Boys East Team and Brad Lauwers of (A.J. Diamond High School – Anchorage, Alaska) will serve as head coach of the Boys West Team.

Since 1978, more than 1,300 players have competed in the McDonald’s All American Games. They form an elite group of some of the top names in basketball history, including Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Candace Parker, Maya Moore, Elena Delle Donne and Breanna Stewart. Alumni include current college standouts Trae Young of Oklahoma, Miles Bridges of Michigan State and Katie Lou Samuelson of UConn.

Amazon Prime Video and ITV announce eight-episode Original series The Widow starring Kate Beckinsale

Series, written by Harry and Jack Williams, will begin production this year and launch on Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories and ITV in the UK

Written and executive produced by Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing, Fleabag) and produced by Williams’ Two Brothers Pictures, The Widow follows Georgia Wells (Beckinsale) who has cut herself off from her previous life and is no longer the woman she once was. After seeing her “late” husband on the news, she is pulled back to face the world and will stop at nothing until she gets the truth about her past. This emotionally gut-wrenching thriller will take Georgia into the depths of the African Congo where danger and revelation will greet her at every turn.

The Widow will be produced by Eliza Mellor (Liar, The Living and the Dead, Poldark), directed by Sam Donovan (Humans, Liar, Utopia) and Olly Blackburn (Donkey Punch, Glue), and distributed globally by all3media International. She most recently starred in the Marc Webb drama The Only Living Boy in New York opposite Jeff Bridges, Callum Turner, and Kiersey Clemons, which was released by Amazon Studios on August 11. KIND kick-starts a conversation on what it takes to overcome the divisions that have torn America apart

NEW YORK, 2017-Dec-13 — /EPR Retail News/ — With the launch of a powerful video that explores the courage it takes to be kind towards strangers, KIND seeks to kindle a conversation about what it will take to overcome the divisions that have torn our country apart.

The video release, in conjunction with a nationwide contest, is part of KIND’s effort to explore the difference between being “nice” and being “kind” – an oft overlooked distinction that has tangible implications on how we act towards one another.

“We’ve all been overwhelmed by the historic rifts tearing our country apart. The empathy and respect that are part of America’s DNA and part of what make our country so exceptional cannot be taken for granted,” said Daniel Lubetzky, Founder & CEO of KIND Healthy Snacks. “For years, KIND has explored how difficult it is to step out of one’s comfort zone and practice kindness – especially towards someone with whom you disagree. Now, more than ever, that extra effort is required to rediscover our shared humanity and tackle challenges related to misunderstanding and intolerance.”

To kick-start a conversation around the topic, KIND has released a storytelling series that illuminates this distinction and plays up the following themes:

  • Nice is polite but not always what we need to hear. Kind is honest and stands its ground.
  • Nice can be passive. Kind requires action and courage.
  • Nice doesn’t add to problems. Kind solves them.
  • Nice is something you say. Kind is something you do.
  • Nice doesn’t bully. Kind stands up to stop the bullying.

The latest video in the series was directed by Emmanuel Lubezki, three-time Academy Award winning cinematographer of Birdman, Gravity and The Revenant, with co-director Chris Wilcha. Titled “More Than Nice,” the piece visually captures Emmanuel’s personal interpretation of kindness through the eyes of volunteers who leave jugs of water across the US-Mexico border. The humanitarian group’s intention is to prevent suffering and death of migrants. The issue hits home not only for Emmanuel, but also for Daniel, his cousin: both are Jewish-Mexican immigrants and proud citizens of the United States who have used their respective platforms to connect people, expand understanding and strengthen communities.

“I was struck not just by the incredible courage but also by the tremendous empathy that these volunteers had, going out of their way to protect the well-being of fellow human beings they may never meet,” said Emmanuel Lubezki. “There is no sacrifice in nice, but being kind requires it. In the video, we attempt to portray the human element of such a polarizing issue in a way that transcends politics and reminds us all of the frailty of the human body and the invincibility of the human spirit.”

The other videos – including a study on the motivations of a war veteran and firefighter who dedicates his free time to help children that are burn victims – juxtapose nice and kind in a myriad of both practical and aspirational ways, but all circle around the same core beliefs.

KIND is inviting people to share their own take on the difference between nice and kind by submitting a written essay, photo or video. A panel of judges, made up of entrepreneurs, creative story tellers, journalists and activists, will select three winners. Those judges include:

Olaf’s Frozen Adventures now available in Tesco stores across the UK

Welwyn Garden City, UK, 2017-Dec-11 — /EPR Retail News/ — Fans of Frozen, one of the most successful animated films of all time, are in for a Christmas treat – a special spin off DVD will exclusively be sold by Tesco from today (Thursday December 7).

The legendary cinema giant Disney and Tesco have worked together to bring customers a stocking filler that will follow the further adventures of main characters Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven.

The 22 minute cartoon comedy is called Olaf’s Frozen Adventures and features universal themes of family, traditions and togetherness.

One of the songs, Let It Go, from the original film has gone on to become a modern day children’s classic.

Olaf teams up with Sven on a merry mission which takes place on the first festive season since the gates reopened and sisters Anna and Elsa host a celebration for all of Arendelle.

When the townspeople unexpectedly leave early to enjoy their individual festive customs, the sisters realize they have no family traditions of their own. So, Olaf sets out to comb the kingdom to bring home the best traditions and save this first Christmas for his friends.

The original Frozen film won numerous awards including two Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature Film, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA award.

Earlier this year Tesco joined forces with Disney in a move to revive interest in DVDs and Blu-ray with the launch of an exclusive new format – called Big Sleeve Edition – of the latest blockbuster, Beauty and the Beast.

The limited edition 12 inch vinyl sized sleeves house the discs and also features collectible art cards.

Launching simultaneously across multiple time zones on November 29 at 6 pm EST, “The U2 Experience” is a new type of radio, filled with historical and new exclusive content produced by Amazon Music and available to U2 fans who tune in from the U.S., UK, Germany, and Austria, ending just before the release of the band’s upcoming album, Songs of Experience, on December 1. Only available during its one-time broadcast and exclusively on Amazon Music, “The U2 Experience” will be available at www.amazon.com/theu2experience and on the Amazon Music mobile app and Web Player for iOS, Android, Mac, and PC. In a new way of listening, the broadcast will also be available to all Prime members and Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers in the U.S. and UK through Alexa, on Amazon Echo devices, simply by asking, “Alexa, play The U2 Experience.”

“I hope you don’t need to know anything about U2, or anything about the context, to enjoy [Songs of Experience],” says U2 guitarist, The Edge. “I think it’s an album of just classic songs, great melodies great hooks, great lyrics. I think there’s very few bands in the history of rock and roll that have been around and made as many albums as we have with the same lineup…that perspective is unique, you know? On the last record [Songs of Innocence] we wrote about where we came from. How this band came together, Dublin of the late 70s early 80s, and this new record is the companion album. But it’s from this current perspective now… So many years later, what have we learned?”

For a limited time, fans will be able to drop into the broadcast and begin listening wherever the unique audio is currently in progress. “The U2 Experience” features a chronology of the band’s career, including commentary surrounding the significance behind iconic songs and legendary stories from the road, as told through live broadcast interviews with the band spanning nearly 40 years. Also included are some of the legendary rock group’s biggest hits, and live recordings of songs from The Joshua Tree and Songs of Experience, recorded during The Joshua Tree Tour 2017. The immersive audio show also includes a new and exclusive interview with U2 and Amazon Music’s global head of programming, Alex Luke, which took place during a stop in Sao Paolo, Brazil on tour this Fall.
