Mauler has been appointed as the Company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Mauler will also join GameStop’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Mauler, 56, has been with the Company for more than 16 years. He previously served as Executive Vice President and President of International, which consists of nearly 2,000 retail stores operating under the GameStop, EB Games, Micromania and Zing Pop Culture brands. Mr. Mauler has led the International division’s business and diversification initiatives since being appointed to the role in January of 2010, including launching the Company’s global Collectibles business in 2014.

Prior to heading the International business, Mr. Mauler served as the Company’s Senior Vice President of Supply Chain and International Support, and before the merger between GameStop and EB Games, served as Vice President of Logistics for Electronics Boutique.

GameStop Q3 2017 financial results: Net Sales of $1.99 Billion

GRAPEVINE, Texas, 2017-Nov-22 — /EPR Retail News/ — GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME), a global family of specialty retail brands that makes the most popular technologies affordable and simple, today (Nov. 21, 2017) reported sales and earnings for the third quarter ended October 28, 2017.

“Our third quarter sales results were driven by strong software demand and continued momentum for Nintendo Switch and collectibles,” said Dan DeMatteo, interim chief executive officer. “As we enter the fourth quarter, we are encouraged by the initial customer response to Microsoft’s Xbox One X, and believe that the holiday season results will be driven by new console hardware and collectibles. Our Technology Brands AT&T Wireless business underperformed our expectations for the third quarter and we anticipate that the fourth quarter results will be highly dependent on the availability of Apple’s next-generation iPhone X.”

Third Quarter Results
Total global sales increased 1.5% to $1.99 billion (flat in constant currency), resulting in consolidated comparable store sales growth of 1.9% (+0.6% in the U.S. and +4.6% internationally). New hardware sales increased 8.8%, led by demand for Nintendo Switch, and new software sales increased 5.4% driven by a strong title lineup. Pre-owned sales declined 2.4%. Worldwide omnichannel sales increased by 38.6% on the strength of new hardware sales.

Digital sales and non-GAAP digital receipts increased 11.9% and 8.3%, respectively, excluding the third quarter 2016 revenues from Kongregate which was sold in July 2017. On a reported basis, digital sales declined 16.8% to $37.2 million, while non-GAAP digital receipts increased 1.8% to $263.7 million.

Collectibles sales increased 26.5% to $138.4 million, driven by continued expansion of licensed merchandise offerings both domestically and internationally. The Collectibles business is on track to meet its 2017 revenue target of $650 million to $700 million.

Technology Brands sales decreased 10.2% to $194.2 million, driven primarily by the later than expected release of Apple’s iPhone X and the previously disclosed change in AT&T’s dealer compensation structure.  Operating earnings decreased 23.4% to $18.0 million. Technology Brands adjusted operating earnings were $11.2 million, a 52.3% decrease compared to $23.5 million in the prior-year quarter.

GameStop’s third quarter net earnings were $59.4 million, or $0.59 per diluted share, compared to net earnings of $50.8 million, or $0.49 per diluted share in the prior-year quarter. The third quarter results include a benefit of $6.8 million ($4.3 million, net of tax) related primarily to a reduction of previously accrued contingent purchase price consideration and lease obligations for previously closed stores in our Technology Brands AT&T Wireless business.

Excluding this gain, GameStop’s adjusted net earnings for the third quarter were $55.1 million, compared to adjusted net earnings of $50.8 million in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted diluted earnings per share were $0.54 compared to adjusted diluted earnings per share of $0.49 in the prior-year quarter. The Company benefited from a lower effective tax rate resulting from the recognition of discrete tax items during the quarter, positively impacting diluted earnings per share by $0.11.

A reconciliation of non-GAAP results, including adjusted net income, operating earnings and Technology Brands operating earnings to its closest GAAP measure is included with this release (Schedule III).

Credit Agreement Amendment
On Monday, November 20, 2017, the company entered into an amendment to its existing asset based credit facility. The amended agreement contains more favorable terms, extends the maturity date of the facility to November 2022 and increases the capacity under the credit facility from $400 million to $420 million to allow for increased flexibility for future needs of the business.

Capital Allocation Update
On November 17, 2017, GameStop’s board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.38 per common share payable on December 12, 2017 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on December 1, 2017.

Earnings Outlook
The company is reiterating its full-year diluted earnings per share guidance of $3.10 to $3.40, and expects full-year comparable store sales to increase in the low-to-mid single digits.

GameStop appoints Daniel A. DeMatteo as its interim Chief Executive Officer

GameStop Q2 2017 results: Total global sales increased 3.4% to $1.69 billion

GRAPEVINE, Texas, 2017-Aug-28 — /EPR Retail News/ — GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME), a global family of specialty retail brands that makes the most popular technologies affordable and simple, today (Aug. 24, 2017) reported sales and earnings for the second quarter ended July 29, 2017.

Paul Raines, chief executive officer, stated, “Our second quarter sales results were driven by continued strong demand for Nintendo Switch and Collectibles. Looking at the second half of 2017, the Nintendo Switch, the launch of Microsoft’s Xbox One X, and a solid slate of AAA titles should drive growth in the video game category. In addition, we expect that our Technology Brands AT&T Wireless business will benefit from a boost in consumer demand driven by the launch of innovative new mobile handsets, including Apple’s next-generation iPhone.”

Second Quarter Results
Total global sales increased 3.4% to $1.69 billion, resulting in consolidated comparable store sales growth of 1.9% (-1.4% in the U.S. and +9.8% internationally). New hardware sales increased 14.8%, led by continued demand for Nintendo Switch. New software sales and pre-owned sales declined 3.4% and 7.5%, respectively, impacted by lagging Xbox One sales.

Worldwide omnichannel sales increased by 86.2% as the company promoted and secured leading market share of Nintendo Switch. During the launch and rollout, the company leveraged all of its sales platforms, including website, web-in-store, pickup-at-store, ship-from-store, and mobile.

Digital sales grew 28.1% to $46.5 million, while non-GAAP digital receipts increased 17.4% to $241.4 million. The growth was driven primarily by downloadable content and mobile.

Collectibles sales increased 36.1% to $122.5 million, driven by an assortment of licensed merchandise including Pokémon and Marvel products. The company added five Collectibles stores during the quarter, bringing the total global portfolio to 99 stores. The Collectibles business is on track to meet its 2017 revenue target of $650 million to $700 million.

Technology Brands sales increased 7.0% to $188.3 million, driven by the year-over-year growth in our AT&T authorized retail stores. Operating earnings increased 7.9% to $15.0 million.

GameStop’s second quarter net earnings were $22.2 million, or $0.22 per diluted share, compared to net earnings of $27.9 million, or $0.27 per diluted share in the prior-year quarter. The second quarter results include a gain of $7.3 million (both before and after tax) related to the sale of Kongregate, which led to a lower effective tax rate.

Excluding this gain, GameStop’s adjusted net earnings for the second quarter were $14.9 million, compared to adjusted net earnings of $27.9 million in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted diluted earnings per share were $0.15 compared to adjusted diluted earnings per share of $0.27 in the prior-year quarter.

A reconciliation of non-GAAP results, including adjusted net income, operating earnings and Technology Brands operating earnings to its closest GAAP measure is included with this release (Schedule III).

Capital Allocation Update
On August 21, 2017, GameStop’s board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.38 per common share payable on September 21, 2017 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on September 8, 2017.

Earnings Outlook
The company is reiterating its full-year diluted earnings per share guidance of $3.10 to $3.40, and given the success of hardware sales to date, we now expect full-year comparable store sales to be at the high end of our previously stated guidance range of -5.0% to 0.0%.

Representatives announce dates for fifth year tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., 2017-Jun-19 — /EPR Retail News/ — The fourth annual Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give concluded today (June 18, 2017) with a win by Canadian LPGA Professional Brooke M. Henderson and a record donation of more than $1 million to the retailer’s Simply Give program that stocks the shelves of its food pantry partners across the Midwest.

“The Meijer LPGA Classic has an incredible impact on our hungry neighbors, and it’s thanks to the ongoing community support that we met our goal of raising at least $1 million during this year’s tournament,” Meijer President & CEO Rick Keyes said. “We look forward to continuing this tradition again next year.”

The 2018 Meijer LPGA Classic will be held June 11-17 at Blythefield Country Club.

Meijer started Simply Give in November 2008 and has since generated more than $29 million for its food pantry partners. The contributions donated as a result of the Meijer LPGA Classic are due, in large part, to the generous Meijer customers who attended the tournament week events, and the sponsors who helped make the event a success.

The $1 million donation will be divided among the retailer’s 237 food pantry partners participating in the spring Simply Give campaign, which ended today.

“The Meijer Simply Give program is extremely important to our food pantry because it helps us to provide healthy and nutritious food to our neighbors,” said Waverly Knight, a director of the Northwest Food Pantry. “Without the program, our food pantry shelves would be empty. We thank Meijer for their willingness to have the Simply Give program and the community for their support in helping feed those in need.”

A crowd of enthusiastic fans braved the weather and lined the ropes at Blythefield Country Club June 13-18 to watch a competitive field of 144 world-class golfers play 72 holes of stroke play. Ultimately, Henderson shot 3-under par in the final round to claim the title as Meijer LPGA Classic champion. She won the tournament by two strokes – over Lexi Thompson and Michelle Wie – with a four-round 17-under par total.

Henderson dedicated this tournament to her father, who also happens to be her coach.

“I’ve said this win is for him, but it really is for him because I really wouldn’t have done it without him,” she said. “To have my fourth win is just super exciting, and I’m excited for the summer now. Thank you to Meijer for putting on such a great event, and I’m excited to come back next year to defend my title.”

GameStop raised nearly $1.2 million during its in-store donation campaign for Autism Speaks

For the second year, GameStop and its family of retail brands show their passion for autism awareness while raising funds for Autism Speaks®

He believes that a little education and communication can go a long way in increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism.

“Early on I decided to be frank with my colleagues about how Asperger’s affects me. When you’re straightforward about who you are, there are a lot of ‘aha’ moments for others,” said Hutton. “I also help my staff learn to interact with our customers who have autism. A portion of the donations raised through the GameStop campaign will help fund Autism Speaks’ specially trained Autism Response Team, which provides information, tools and resources to help people with autism and their families make informed decisions.

In addition, the money raised will fund Autism Speaks’ science programs that are advancing innovative research into causes and better treatments for autism and its related conditions.

Fans of tabletop games are encouraged to visit their nearest, participating Barnes & Noble store to play featured games and browse the impressive selection of Strategy, Classic, Family, Party, and Mind Memory & Logic games.
