Mary Portas Brings Interior Inspiration To Rotherham Sofa Store

CSL, the sofa specialists, has introduced an innovative free interior design service at its Rotherham store following advice from high street shopping expert Mary Portas.

The idea for the new Inspiration Station, which allows customers to create a bespoke interior design mood board based around their preferred sofa, came after the store was featured on Channel 4’s ‘Mary Portas: Secret Shopper’ on Wednesday 25 January.

In the programme, Mary highlighted that she believed CSL should focus on increasing customer interaction. The company have used her feedback to invest £25,000 in creating the high-tech Inspiration Station, which works through an iPad app created in-house at CSL, in partnership with retail marketing specialists Valley.

The Inspiration Station lets customers choose from an extensive library of on screen images provided by retailers such as Amtico and Graham & Brown to explore a variety of coordinated flooring, wall coverings, paint colour options and fixtures that can enhance the look of their home.

The Co-operative Group Reports Solid Trading Results For The Fourth Quarter Of 2010

During the period close to 200 stores were closed on average for seven days a time to allow for
full refits. Despite this the core convenience estate, which includes both Co-operative & Somerfield stores, saw like-for-like sales increase by 2%.

Combined like-for-like sales in the Group’s non-food businesses increased by 12.1% with particularly strong sales performances from the online electrical, motor and travel operations.

Peter Marks, Group Chief Executive, said “We have delivered a solid trading performance across our retail businesses in a difficult environment. The exceptionally cold weather created logistical issues for our food stores – particularly given the sheer scale and geographic spread of our estate. Our people worked exceptionally hard to ensure that we provided a great service to all our customers – and the strong performance of our core convenience estate is a testament to all their efforts.

“The planned acceleration of the Somerfield conversion programme was an added issue– but this continues at pace and we remain on track to complete the process by Spring 2011.

Online Dog Food Sales Growing Steadily

The number of people looking to buy their dog food from online shopping sites is growing steadily and has been unaffected by the recession.

FotoLum Provides Glowing Materials For Luminocity’s Ground-Breaking Atlanta “Hinterland” Performance

Atlanta’s Woodruff Park ignited with an amazing display of light, dance and unique creativity Saturday night, November 27th as Luminocity and gloATL presented a performance unlike any ever seen downtown.
