An art class taught by ZIPCY was also popular amongst students who wanted to learn realistic and sophisticated drawing styles from an instafamous Korean Illustrator.

If you enroll in a pole dancing class, for example, you will receive a pole in the mail. If you enroll in an illustration class, you will receive all the watercolors, drawing pads, brushes, and materials you need.

Another unique aspect of the service is that it has an online feedback community where instructors and learners exchange feedback on the process and progress they make. Learners are able to ask questions they have during lessons, exchange opinions, and help keep one another motivated.

New website automatically issues XPAND Codes that can be read from 200 meters/700 feet

TOKYO, Japan, 2019-Dec-4 — /EPR Retail News/ — XPAND K.K., which develops and manages the spatial link XPAND Code, has launched XPAND Code Generator, a website that automatically issues XPAND Code. The paid version “XPAND Code Pro”, which has existed from before, can now be issued instantly through a credit card payment. Receiving support from the Japanese government and others, XPAND has been attending exhibitions in Europe and Asia since this summer to carry out PR activities to many users, but the launch of this site is expected to expand usage around the world.

Overstock.com launches augmented reality (AR) feature within its iOS shopping app

LAS VEGAS, 2018-Jan-11 — /EPR Retail News/ — Visa and Dynamics today (Jan. 8, 2018) unveiled the Dynamics Wallet Card™, a connected payment card, at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The Visa-branded version of the Wallet Card is the same size and shape as a normal Visa credit or debit card, yet it incorporates multiple features and technologies not previously found in a single payment card. Features of the Wallet Card range from the capacity to access multiple cards – whether EMV-, contactless- or magnetic stripe-based – to a programmable on-card display that enables account information, such as alerts or coupons, to be sent to the cardholder via an embedded antenna.

Wallet Card includes a cell phone chip and cell phone antenna so data can be transferred between Wallet Card and a consumer’s bank anywhere in the world and at any time of the day.

The device offers a number of cardholder benefits and cutting-edge technologies, including:

  • Multiple Cards in One: Cardholders can access their debit, credit, pre-paid, multicurrency, one-time use, or loyalty cards on a single card with the tap of a button. Account information is shown on the on-card display with the ability to toggle between cards or accounts.
  • Instant Issuance: As the first instant, digital card platform, financial institutions can distribute Visa Wallet Card anywhere and at any time – such as in their retail branches or at events, and consumers can activate it right away.
  • Greater Security: A bank can quickly delete a compromised card account number and replace it with a new account number, providing convenience and peace of mind for the cardholder.
  • Alerts and Messages: An on-card, 65,000-pixel display shows both account information and allows messages to be sent to the Visa Wallet Card at any time. For example, after every purchase, a message may be sent to notify the consumer of the purchase and their remaining balance if they used a pre-paid or debit card. Cardholders can also receive coupons directly on the display or be notified of a suspicious purchase and click on “Not Me” to report suspected fraud and request a new card number.
  • Self-Charging Battery: An organic chip ensures the payment card charges itself through normal operation and doesn’t require any work for the cardholder.

India Should Reduce GST on Point Of Sale Devices to Encourage Digitalization: Millennium

Chennai, India, 2017-Nov-16 — /EPR Retail News/ —  Ever since the Indian government introduced the ‘historic’ Goods and Services Tax regime from July 2017, there have been frequent announcements for revision of rates for several items by the GST council owing to pressure from public, traders and political spectrum.

However, there are certain items which are still in the bracket of 18 per cent and 28 per cent, which, according to experts, will do no good for the government’s grand initiatives towards cashless economy and digitalization of all transaction activities.

For example, most of the Point of Sale (POS) devices are still in the higher rate of GST. While POS devices such as POS terminals, barcode scanners, barcode printers, mobile printers, receipt printers, etc are placed at 18 % slab, POS consumables such as paper rolls, ribbons and inks and also POS accessories such as pole display, cash drawers and magnetic stripe readers are still in the highest slab of 28%.

The higher GST slab for POS products and accessories will discourage retail vendors to go for digital transformation, feels Bhaskar Venkatraman, the CEO and Managing Director of Millennium India, a pioneer in introducing POS machines to retail businesses in India.

“The government’s digitalization move can bear the fruit only when all retail businesses, even in the remotest corner of India, automate their store by digitalizing their business operations moving out from the traditional and obsolete transaction methods. But the high GST slabs on various POS devices is a big discouragement for it. Hence, the GST Council should reduce the GST for all the POS items and accessories and also reduce the burden on importers by slashing the import duties, as majority of POS payment terminals, barcode printers, scanners and other supportive devices are being imported to India,” feels Bhaskar, who launched India’s first ecommerce portal ‘Justransact’ in 2014 exclusively for point of sale electronic items.

Even the nominal bank transaction charges for card payment at Point of Sale are scaring away retail vendors to adopt card payment option. Some of them, who have installed POS payment devices at their shops, are simply passing this burden to customers.

Post demonetization, cash still remains the major source of transaction even after one year of its implementation, though there has been phenomenal increase in card transactions. GST, which was intended to bring uniform tax regime, has so far not created the required impact among trading community as almost every week there have been some changes in its implementation or the rates.

“It is too early to suggest the impact of GST on the businesses or the economy. For any major reforms,  there will be issues which need to be addressed, and I think, the government is doing the right thing by revising the GST rates after getting feedbacks from various quarters. In the same line, 18 and 28 per cent GST for POS machines are too high to be absorbed by retail vendors. On the other hand, lower GST for POS devices will further trigger the growth of the Indian retail industry, which is currently the fastest among the Asian peers,” concludes Bhaskar.

SPAR Hungary introduces its 30-day lifestyle change mobile app

Hungary, 2017-Nov-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — SPAR Hungary recently introduced its 30-day lifestyle change mobile app, helping those who wish to take steps to improve their health. The app users are given access to dietary plans developed by nutritional experts, training programmes, and other useful tips to help them reach their goals.

The SPAR Lifestyle Change Programme aims to assist more and more people in making conscious dietary changes and participating in regular sports activities. The initiative is built around a free-of-charge mobile application which anyone can access from the App Store or Google Play. The programme has been developed by trained and experienced professionals: a dietary expert and certified nutritionist developed the diet plan including all meals of the day; Gábor “Bio” Tóth, a regular contributor to radio shows, has provided additional useful and interesting information; and professional trainers developed 20-25 minute long, easy-to-perform exercises, in the form of short videos.

Chipotle Mexican Grill launches new mobile app available on Apple and Android

New Chipotle app, available on iPhone and Android, includes quick reorder, easier customization of meals, and Apple and Android pay

DENVER, 2017-Nov-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) has announced a new mobile app that is available for download starting today (Nov. 6, 2017) on Apple and Android devices.

Whether a first-time mobile user or an online ordering regular, the app enhances guests’ on-the-go Chipotle experience by offering features such as quick reorder of their favorite meals, streamlined payment options and the ability to receive, store and redeem Chipotle offers.

“Our guests are increasingly mobile and on the go, and they want and deserve the same intuitive, accurate and convenient ordering experience they get in our restaurants. “Smarter Pickup Times” and second make lines in restaurants also improve the company’s ability to process more digital orders without disrupting service or increasing line wait times for customers who order in restaurants. To accommodate online orders, most restaurants are now equipped with a dedicated prep line.

For the third year running, humorous family scenarios are used bring to life the difficulties in choosing the right Christmas gifts, presenting Currys PC World as the solution to this problem – with the right gadgets and colleague expertise available to help.

The three installments dramatise a real-life initiative by the retailer which allows store colleagues to try out Currys PC World products for themselves at home, so that they’re able to give truly first-hand advice to shoppers in store.

This year’s campaign features technology from three key brands including a proud Dad attempting to be ‘down with the kids’ while parading his new Bose® product range; a family putting the latest Apple products (and their Father) through their paces and a hilarious Mum-Dad double act declaring a ‘tech free’ Christmas to a bewildered audience, before proudly showing off the latest LG OLED 4K ready TV, in all its glory.

While the ads centre around humour and several light-hearted moments, they also demonstrate that the retailer has an effective blend of the right services, right products and right prices, to help customers ‘get it right’ this Christmas.

The campaign will feature 40” hero TV executions alongside a suite of 10 sponsorship idents breaking over November and December, starting on air from Wednesday 1st November, and is supported by promotional activity throughout November and December.

The ads will appear during some high-profile television slots on ITV (Coronation Street, Doc Martin, Jonathan Ross, The X Factor and Sheridan) and Channel 4 (Ugly House to Lovely House, Celebrity First Dates and The Last Leg) across November, as well as commercial broadcasters including ITV, C4, C5 and Sky Multichannel.

The campaign is one element of a fully-integrated nationwide campaign, set to incorporate all areas of the business right down through to Currys PC World stores.
