JCPenney Credit Card and JCPenney Rewards Loyalty Program Among First to Seamlessly Integrate with Apple Pay

PLANO, Texas, 2017-Jul-27 — /EPR Retail News/ — As part of its focus on creating an easy and seamless customer shopping experience, JCPenney (NYSE:JCP) has rolled out Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay, to all stores nationwide. The Company will also make its credit card available on Apple Pay, which allows credit card users to earn shopping points through JCPenney Rewards, the retailer’s customer loyalty program.

“With Apple Pay at JCPenney, we’re able to offer a faster, more seamless check out process by allowing our customers to pay for their purchases by simply holding their iPhone or Apple Watch near a point-of-sale terminal, rather than inserting a chip card,” said Therace Risch, chief information officer for JCPenney. “And with the added convenience of our credit card as a payment option via Apple Pay, we’re giving customers another compelling reason to join our credit card and loyalty programs.”

In store, Apple Pay works with iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE and Apple Watch. JCPenney point-of-sale registers now process all Apple Pay supported credit and debit bank cards, including the Company’s credit card and co-branded Mastercard, both issued by Synchrony Bank and available to use with Apple Pay. Customers simply add their JCPenney credit card as a payment option to Apple Pay using the Wallet or Apple Watch app on their iPhone. Plus, coming soon, customers with the JCPenney app on iPhone and iPad will have the option to complete their purchases using Apple Pay.

“We’re always looking for new ways to leverage innovative technology solutions to deliver convenient and secure mobile payments for our retail partners,” said Carol Juel, executive vice president and chief information officer, Synchrony Financial. “With the JCPenney credit card and the JCPenney Mastercard now ready to use with Apple Pay, the customer experience is taken to a whole new level.”

“Through our Mastercard Digital Enablement Service, we remain committed to helping merchants like JCPenney capitalize on mobile payments, ensuring the best experience for their customers and driving loyalty,” said Linda Kirkpatrick, executive vice president, U.S. Market Development, Mastercard.  “By enabling private label card offerings to be supported in a digital environment, we’re providing the choice consumers want while delivering the customer engagement retailers demand.”

When customers add a payment card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are neither stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the secure element on the Apple device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

Apple announces conservation efforts to protect working forests in the United States

Apple announces conservation efforts to protect working forests in the United States

Cupertino, California, 2016-Nov-16 — /EPR Retail News/ — Apple today (NOVEMBER 14, 2016) announced important progress in its efforts to protect working forests in the United States. The company, in partnership with The Conservation Fund, is donating the conservation easement across more than 32,400 acres of working forest in the US — the Reed Forest in Maine — to the Forest Society of Maine. Apple is also supporting the Fund’s donation of an endowment to the Forest Society of Maine, which will ensure that the easement can be monitored and enforced for centuries to come.

Apple recognizes forests are a tremendous natural resource, and is committed to minimizing its impact by sourcing paper responsibly and using it as efficiently as possible. The company is working to protect and create enough responsibly managed forests around the world to cover all its packaging needs and produce fiber for generations. In 2015, Apple launched a partnership with The Conservation Fund to protect 36,000 acres of sustainable forest in the Eastern United States through the use of conservation easements, which help ensure the working forests remain forests. Apple is also partnering with World Wildlife Fund in China to transition up to one million acres of forest into responsible management by 2020.

The conservation easement ensures forests at Reed won’t be developed or converted to other uses, and helps promote economical and ecologically-sustainable production of fiber and other wood products. The easement also guarantees recreational activities in the forests, and requires forest harvest plans to address water quality, native fish and wildlife habitat, soil productivity, recreational values, scenic benefits, an enduring forest and other conservation values.

Located along the Mattawamkeag River in Aroostook County, Reed Forest connects more than a million acres of conserved lands and interconnected forest habit that extend beyond the US border into Canada. Maine’s forests provide important habitat for species such as the Atlantic salmon, bald eagle, northern goshawk and Canada lynx.

Apple to bring Apple Pay in Japan

San Francisco, 2016-Sep-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — Apple today (SEPTEMBER 7, 2016) announced that iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2 will bring customers in Japan the ability to use Apple Pay, an easy, fast and secure way to pay for everything in their daily routines, beginning in October. Users can commute and pay for everyday items with Suica from JR East, and make convenient and private credit and prepaid card purchases in stores, apps and on the web with a single touch. Apple is also introducing support for transit in Japan with Maps in iOS 10, so commuters can easily find ride details, including fare breakdowns that automatically show Suica pricing right on their device, making their commute more seamless and simpler than ever.

Apple Pay is accepted anywhere Suica is available, so users can make quick everyday purchases and buy or reload a Suica card or commuter pass, all with their iPhone. Japan’s major financial brands will also support Apple Pay, so shoppers can make purchases in many of the country’s largest stores, at neighborhood shops and restaurants, and from their favorite online merchants.

“We are incredibly excited to bring iPhone 7 to customers in Japan so they can experience the magic of Apple Pay,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Apple Pay will transform your daily routine, from making your commute easier and more convenient than ever with Suica right on your iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2, to using your favorite cards to make secure and private purchases with a single touch.”

“As the world’s largest transit operator, JR East is committed to innovating so we can provide our customers across Japan the best service possible,” said Tetsuro Tomita, president and CEO of East Japan Railway. “For iPhone 7, we redesigned an entirely new experience from the ground up so our customers can enjoy the ease and security of using Apple Pay while commuting, in our app and in stores with Suica.”

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2 sold in Japan will support FeliCa Type-F NFC contactless technology, which is used every day for more than 160 million transactions across Japan.

When Maps launches support for transit in Japan with iOS 10 in October, Apple Pay users can map out and pay for their entire commute, including major train, subway, ferry and national bus lines, on their iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2, based on updated fare and schedule information. If you have a Suica card added to Apple Pay and are planning a route that exceeds its balance, an alert will show it’s time to reload, and you can do so instantly, right on your device. Commuters can also follow carefully curated navigation instructions so it’s easy to get around Japan’s extensive underground tunnel networks.

Apple Pay will support many of the most popular Japanese credit and prepaid cards issued by AEON, Credit Saison, JCB, Mitsubishi UFJ Nicos, Orient Corporation, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Toyota Finance, UC Cards and View Card, and carriers KDDI, NTT Docomo and Softbank, representing more than three-quarters of all credit card spending in Japan, with major global and domestic networks like American Express, Mastercard, JCB, iD and QUICPay. Users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by their cards.

Beginning in October, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2 users will be able to make purchases in stores anywhere Suica, iD or QUICPay is accepted, encompassing nearly two-thirds of all transactions at Japan’s largest merchants. In addition to Apple Stores in Japan, leading retailers that will accept Apple Pay include convenience stores like 7-Eleven, Circle K, Family Mart, Lawson, Ministop and Sunkus, supermarkets such as AEON, APITA and PIAGO, gas stations including ENEOS and Esso Mobil General, retailers like BicCamera, Matsumoto Kiyoshi and Uniqlo, and favorite local brands such as JapanTaxi and Sukiya.

Online shopping in apps and on websites accepting Apple Pay is as simple as the touch of a finger with Touch ID, so there’s no need to manually fill out lengthy account forms or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. Your card number is kept private and not shared with the merchant. Online brands that will accept Apple Pay in Japan include BASE, Demae-Can, giftee, Jalan.net, JapanTaxi, minne and Toho Cinema.

When paying for goods and services on the go within apps or Safari, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6 and later, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3 and later. You can also use Apple Pay in Safari on any Mac introduced in or after 2012 running macOS Sierra, and confirm the payment with iPhone 6 or later or Apple Watch.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. If your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch is ever lost, you can use Find My iPhone to put your device in Lost Mode to suspend Apple Pay, or you can wipe your device clean completely. You can also stop the ability to make payments with Apple Pay on iCloud.com. If you lose your device, your Suica balance is recoverable.

When you use a credit or prepaid card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device.

Apple revolutionized personal technology with the introduction of the Macintosh in 1984. Today, Apple leads the world in innovation with iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. Apple’s four software platforms — iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS — provide seamless experiences across all Apple devices and empower people with breakthrough services including the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay and iCloud. Apple’s 100,000 employees are dedicated to making the best products on earth, and to leaving the world better than we found it.

BERLIN, 2015-9-3 — /EPR Retail News/ — Just in time for the online retailer’s 4th birthday, Zalando.co.uk has surprised its customers with a range of new features and services. Zalando is among the first fashion e-tailers to accept Apple Pay in the UK, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay. The service is now available for Zalando app users with an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3. As creating a convenient shopping experience is Zalando’s main focus, Apple Pay is a useful addition to the e-tailer’s payment offer, consisting of twenty different payment options in fifteen different markets.

With the launch of My Returns, the returns process for Zalando customers becomes even more convenient: They can now return their Zalando order using the My Returns ‘On Demand’ 60 minute courier collection service the same day or the next day among a selected one-hour time slot. During the trial period, which is taking place in London until October 18th, Zalando customers can use My Returns for free.

Furthermore, the fashion e-tailer has been working on broadening its assortment, focusing on a local approach. “In addition to our wide range of UK brands that are in high demand internationally, we included local champions such as Whistles, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, and many more just recently”, states Dalbir Bains, VP Womenswear at Zalando. “We always strive for improving the shopping experience and creating the most relevant offer for our customers. Also, for the coming months we will further focus on building-up the brand assortment for our UK customers.”

In terms of a company-wide customer experience initiative, Zalando has also improved its services with new features such as a Customer Care chat function: Customers who are logged in to their account can place their questions live to Customer Care agents and get an answer straight away. Surveys show that almost all customer requests could be answered during the first point of contact without additional email or phone calls; customer satisfaction with this new function was 95 percent. Additionally customers in the UK will receive their parcels even faster in the future. After a number of improvements to transportation and logistics processes, Europe’s largest online fashion platform now delivers parcels in a time period of 2-4 days among the UK, instead of 3-6 days as before. To make the returns process as easy and convenient as possible, all customers now have the return label in the parcel and no longer need to print it out themselves. Thanks to this, returning an item bought on Zalando now takes less than one minute.

“We identified that 5 out of 10 customer satisfaction drivers are related to convenience. Our main goal is to create a best in class shopping experience when it comes to convenience. With our current improvements in terms of payment, delivery, customer service, returns and assortment we have made an important step in this direction”, says Dalbir Bains.

MANCHESTER, UK, 2015-7-15 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Co-operative Food has today (14th July 2015) launched Apple Pay in all stores making them the largest UK retailer to offer the newest payment technology.
