Albertsons Companies welcomes Jim Donald as President and Chief Operating Officer

Boise, Idaho, 2018-Mar-07 — /EPR Retail News/ — Albertsons Companies announced today (Mar 05, 2018) that Jim Donald, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Starbucks, has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Albertsons Companies, effective immediately. Donald is an experienced retail operator with extensive knowledge of Albertsons Companies, having previously held senior leadership roles at both Albertson’s, Inc. and Safeway, Inc. Donald also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Rite Aid from 2008 to 2013.

As President and Chief Operating Officer, Donald will have responsibility for the operations of the retailers’ 2,300+ store portfolio and help with the acceleration of the company’s growing omnichannel platform. Following the close of the recently announced merger with Rite Aid, subject to customary regulatory approvals and approval by Rite Aid shareholders, Donald will continue in this role and work alongside the rest of the combined company’s leadership team. Donald replaces Wayne Denningham, who retired earlier this year. Susan Morris, who was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer in January 2018, will continue in her role.

Earlier in his career, Donald led Pathmark Stores, Inc. and held a variety of senior management positions with Albertson’s, Inc., Safeway, Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Darden Restaurants appoints Dave George as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

ORLANDO, Fla., 2018-Jan-24 — /EPR Retail News/ — Darden Restaurants, Inc. (DRI) today (January 22, 2018) announced the appointment of Dave George as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), a new position within Darden. As COO, George will maintain his oversight of Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52 and International Franchising while adding Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen to his leadership portfolio. He will continue to report to Gene Lee, President and CEO of Darden.

Maltsbarger, Lowe’s chief development officer and president, international, has been appointed chief operating officer, effective Feb. 3, 2018, and will continue to report to Robert A. Niblock, chairman, president and CEO. Maltsbarger succeeds Rick D. Damron who plans to retire after 36 years with the company. Damron has served as chief operating officer since 2012.

He will oversee areas including store operations, supply chain, pro and services, while also working closely with Michael P. Schneider will report to Delaware North Sportservice President Carlos Bernal and will continue to be based at Delaware North’s global headquarters in Buffalo, N.Y. Schneider will also remain involved with strategic imperatives in Delaware North’s travel business until his successor is identified.

As COO of Delaware North Sportservice, Schneider will oversee all of its food service and retail operations at stadiums, ballparks, arenas and other venues across the United States.
