Sigma launches Leapp Dispensary Excellence program for Pharmacists

A leap forward for Pharmacists

  • Sigma launches Leapp Dispensary Excellence Program for Pharmacists– an industry leading support program delivering workflow efficiencies to enhance engagement with patients.

  • Leapp pilot program already achieves significant benefits to the customer experience and demonstrated higher returns for participating pharmacies

  • Full Leapp Dispensary Excellence program to be rolled out across Australia in 2017

VICTORIA, Australia, 2017-Mar-10 — /EPR Retail News/ — Sigma has launched a new Dispensary focused program aimed at unleashing the professional expertise of pharmacists to enable them to spend more time helping their customers one-on-one with enhanced healthcare solutions.

Sigma has used the Amcal/Guardian Retail Conference being held this week on the Gold Coast to unveil the Leapp program. This program is a comprehensive 26 week support program with a vision of having “a pharmacist available always“ – so they have the time to better deliver medicines advice and healthcare solutions to their customers.

The scope of the support program includes pharmacists upskilling and coaching in patient engagement and counselling, developing efficient dispensary systems and processes to better utilize pharmacists time, business performance and benchmarking and consultation around design and layout considerations.

Leapp is industry leading for Australia’s pharmacy sector, with a deliberate focus on achieving dispensary service and brand standards. Pharmacists have expressed a desire to get out from behind the dispensary counter, and the Leapp program will provide the tools and initiatives to allow this to occur,’’ said Gary Dunne, Sigma’s Chief Operating Officer.

“Sigma continues to invest in our brands, including Amcal and Guardian, to make sure they are amongst the most trusted in the industry.  This is now extended by investing in programs that enable pharmacists to better utilize their expertise where it is needed the most – talking with customers to ensure they receive the best possible care.  Ultimately this leads to loyal customers who seek greater advice on a broad range of healthcare needs, which is a positive for everyone’’ Mr Dunne said

Sigma has trialed the Leapp program in 14 Amcal and Guardian pilot stores, in both city and regional areas and will now roll out the program nationally.

“The Leapp program will support our pharmacies to provide an advice driven and pharmacist led experience for our prescription and retail customers. Our “pharmacist available always” vision ensures there is a ready source for both medicines and general health care advice in our pharmacies at all times for our customers.“ said Mr Dunne.

“The feedback we’ve had so far from the pharmacies that have been in the pilot program is that their customers are responding well to the increased availability of our pharmacists and owners are also seeing a greater financial return for their pharmacies,’’ he said.

“The Leapp program is exclusive to our Amcal and Guardian pharmacies and we are encouraging them to register and reap the rewards of this industry leading program.’’ Mr Dunne said.

Amcal launches Chinese language version of its website

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, 2016-Jun-09 — /EPR Retail News/ — Amcal today launched a Chinese language version of its website. This will be managed in partnership with Azoya – a local distributor and Chinese e-commerce specialist providing on-the-ground customer support in China.

The new Chinese language site marks the first time Amcal has entered the international retail market from its Australian base.

Products on the new Chinese language site will be sourced from Australia. All fulfilment operations will remain in Australia.

“This is a very important milestone in Amcal’s history and we are proud that this great Australian brand will now be launched internationally, starting with China. Sigma recognised the rapid growth in e-commerce in China, but also the demand for quality Australian pharmacy branded products including vitamins, beauty accessories and a range of other health and wellbeing products. That’s why the company has taken this landmark step to launch this site and offer customer support in China. We have chosen Chinese-based Azoya Group as our partner to launch this venture, due to their local knowledge and expertise in cross-border eCommerce in China.” – Gary Dunne, Sigma Chief Operating Officer.

Don Zhao, co-founder and Executive Director of Azoya group commented:

“The launch of the Amcal China site will make Amcal one of the leading overseas retailer brands in the China market, and we are confident to make that happen. Also, it’s been a great experience working with the great team from Sigma. We look forward to further and deeper cooperation in the future.”

The site offers a wide range of health, beauty and wellbeing products from a range of different suppliers, as well as a selection of Sigma’s own Pharmacy Care branded products.

“We believe that China could be just the first of a targeted international expansion plan for Amcal and Sigma leveraging our existing partnerships. Australia has a great reputation when it comes to the quality of our health, wellness and beauty products.” Gary Dunne said.

Sigma supports King Island Pharmacy and the local community as the pharmacy burned to the ground over the Australia Day weekend

King Island, Australia, 2015-1-28 — /EPR Retail News/ — The spirit of Australian camaraderie was on show over the Australia Day weekend as many quickly responded to the needs of the 1,800 residents of King Island.

The King Island Pharmacy, located in Currie, is the only pharmacy on King Island supporting the local community. An alleged arson attack over the Australia Day weekend saw the pharmacy burn to the ground.

With the need for essential medicines to support the local community, members of Sigma’s Launceston distribution centre jumped into action, with the supervisor John Brophy in particular praised for his actions in responding to the calls for assistance.

John investigated the quickest way to despatch essential medicines, including items requiring refrigeration. He then processed and picked the order and personally delivered it to the airport where he ensured it was loaded onto the plane.

Gary Dunne, Sigma Chief Operating Officer commented “Sigma prides itself on being a partner of choice for our customers, and it is imperative that medicines are delivered to communities irrespective of their location. This is an unfortunate event for the pharmacy and the community of King Island, so I am really proud that John and the team in the Launceston distribution centre quickly responded to do everything possible to support them.”

Divesh Sanghvi, Pharmacy owner commented “This type of event is not something we expect or prepare for, so it is great to know that we can rely on our partner Sigma to help us through should the situation arise. The entire team in the Launceston distribution centre are to be congratulated for acting quickly and doing everything possible to ensure we had essential stock for our patients at King Island.”

The King Island Pharmacy is temporarily operating out of the King Island hospital while investigations continue.

“King Island needs a community pharmacy. We will continue to operate business as usual whilst we go through the process of assessing our long term options to re-build our pharmacy,” said Mr Sanghvi.
