Dollar General to hold inaugural innovation and supplier diversity summit in April 2018

Dollar General is encouraging new suppliers and those who have not sold products to the Company within the past 18 months to apply to attend its inaugural Innovation and Supplier Diversity Summit in April 2018. The event aims to pair potential new vendors with respective Dollar General buyers and category managers.  Suppliers must sell items in at least one of the following categories to be eligible to attend:

  • Beauty, Personal Care and Over-the-Counter/Wellness
  • General Merchandise/All Non-Food
  • Grocery.

“As part of Dollar General’s continual commitment to provide quality products at everyday low prices to our diverse consumer base, we are thrilled to announce our first Innovation and Supplier Diversity Summit scheduled for this spring,” said Jason Reiser, Dollar General’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.  “Having the right products to best meet our customers’ needs is a foundational cornerstone at Dollar General.  As such, we look forward to meeting with potential new vendors, learning about relevant products for our customers and expanding the number of unique and specialized offerings available in our stores.”

To apply, interested suppliers, companies and manufacturers may submit their product information at www.rangeme.com/dollargeneral from Tuesday, January 30 through end of day on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.  Selected companies will be subject to a $500 participation fee and notified via email by Efficient Collaborative Retail Marketing (ECRM) of the time, date and location of their meeting with a member of the Dollar General merchandising team.

Rob Scruggs joins Dollar General as chief digital and customer engagement officer

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn., 2017-Nov-01 — /EPR Retail News/ — Dollar General Corporation (NYSE: DG) today (October 30, 2017) announced that Rob Scruggs has joined the Company as chief digital and customer engagement officer, a newly created position in which he will lead the strategy for customer engagement including digital experience and tools. Scruggs brings over 17 years of experience focused on customer and user engagement.

Scruggs earned his Bachelor of Arts from University of Memphis.

Dollar General becomes the Official Discount Retail Sponsor for the Big 12 Conference 2017-2018

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn., 2017-Sep-19 — /EPR Retail News/ — Dollar General (NYSE: DG) is excited to partner with the Big 12 Conference and ESPN Events to serve as the Official Discount Retail Sponsor for the Big 12 Conference for the 2017-2018 academic year. Additionally, the major discount retailer will serve as the Conference’s Official Homegating and Tailgating Headquarters and exclusive sponsor of the Dollar General Big 12 Championship Tour, which plans to host events at each of the 10 Big 12 Conference collegiate campuses during the 2017 fall football season.

Each week’s Tour stop is scheduled to include a former Big 12 Conference player to meet customers and sign autographs, a celebrity grill master, tailgate games, giveaways and prizes and the opportunity to see the new Big 12 Football Championship trophy. Festivities are in partnership with major Dollar General vendor partners and brands including Pringles®, Cheez-It® crackers, DiGiorno® pizza, Bounty® paper towels, Reese’s® chocolate, Dixie® paper products and Kingsford® charcoal.

The tour is also scheduled to be part of festivities during the 2017 Big 12 Football Championship Game in Arlington, Texas on December 2, the 2017 Texas Bowl in Houston on December 27, the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship in Kansas City in March 2018 and the Big 12 Baseball Championship in Oklahoma City in May 2018. Reiser brings over 30 years of retail experience to Dollar General

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn., 2017-Jun-23 — /EPR Retail News/ — Dollar General Corporation (NYSE:DG) today (June 22, 2017) announced that Jason Reiser will join the Company as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer effective, July 12. Reiser replaces Jim Thorpe who recently retired. Reiser brings more than 30 years of experience in retail management, private brand sourcing, regulatory affairs as well as being a trained pharmacist.

“Jason is an innovative merchant who has a broad range of experience in discount retail and a track record of leadership excellence,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s chief executive officer. “I believe Jason’s deep understanding of our customer and small-box retail, coupled with his proven ability to drive results, will strengthen our leadership team as we strive to capture future growth opportunities.”

Reiser most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at the Vitamin Shoppe where he had responsibility for merchandising, operations and supply chain. Prior to that, he served as the chief merchandising officer at Family Dollar from 2013 to 2016. Reiser started his retail career as a pharmacy manager for Walmart. From there, he rose through the ranks to positions of increasing responsibility. He served as vice president, merchandising, health and family care for Sam’s Club from 2010 to 2013

Reiser earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Northeastern University.
