Woolworths.co.uk is searching for the best home-made William and Kate dolls in a bid to find Britain’s Craftiest Kids

Following on from the launch of a new Arts and Crafts section and collaboration with leading crafts personality and expert Stephanie Weightman, the online family superstore, Woolworths.co.uk is inspiring family fun and searching the UK to find Britain’s Craftiest Kids.

Woolies is sending out an appeal for children across the UK to send in their very own home-made Royal Wedding Kate and William to be in with a chance to take the Craftiest Kid crown. These can be made from anything from knitted, paper, clay and card dolls, as the rules allow the children to go as far as their imagination can take them.

Dan Rubel, director of family fun at Woolworths.co.uk said: “Families are getting very excited about the impending Royal Wedding and many will be watching the country’s biggest event together. Making Royal Wedding memorabilia is a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy and the Kate and Williams dolls are something that can be kept for years.”

The top four craftiest creators, as selected by the team back at Woolies HQ, will have their designs showcased on the Woolworths.co.uk website and will get to spend an entire day with Stephanie Weightman helping her create her famous projects and learning some tricks of the crafting trade.

To enter home-made dolls into the British Craftiest Kids competition, entrants need to send a picture of their crafty royal creation to woolworths@GoldenGoosePR.com.

Woolworths.co.uk Hand Out Free Royal Wedding Street-party Packs

Woolworths.co.uk, the online family superstore, has handed out free royal wedding street-party packs to residents of streets, avenues, drives, closes and terraces with Kate, Catherine or William in their name to help celebrate the most anticipated marriage of the last three decades.

Based on pre-sales of Royal Wedding decorations and royal wedding souvenirs, Woolies predicts that on the day of the Royal Wedding, the UK will see a minimum of 1,000 street parties.

Woolworths has identified 740 streets across the UK with Kate, Catherine or William in their name, and is offering residents of these streets the free street-party pack to enjoy the big day.

Woolworths.co.uk is predicting that outside of London, Yorkshire is expected to host the highest number of street parties as it is home to 39 William and 14 Catherine streets, closes, drives, avenues, terraces, lane and roads.

Other hotspots across the country have been identified as Liverpool (9xWilliam & 3xCatherine), Birmingham (6xWilliam and 1xCatherine) and Southampton (4xWilliam & 2xCatherine).

Woolworths is also putting a call out to the two William Streets and the one Catherine Street in Hull to join in the celebrations, as the city is the least likely to host a party, with the council there announcing that they have received no applications for street parties to date.

Dan Rubel, head of family fun at Woolworths.co.uk, said: “Our research tell us that those living on streets with a royal connection are most likely to throw a street party on the date of the Royal Wedding.
