Online book retailer the Book People is selling The Hunger Games book trilogy for just £4.99 in line with the release of the film adaptation, which premiered in the UK on 23 March 2012. This will give the Book People customers a saving of £18.98 on the recommended retail price (RRP).
The young adult book, written by well-known American author Suzanne Collins, is already a best-seller and is the first in a trilogy of the same name. The sci-fi and fantasy fiction book is set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world in the mythical country of Panem, which is located where North America once was.
In this cruel world the Capitol rules over everything and is surrounded by 12 poverty-stricken districts. The name of the book and trilogy refers to the blood-thirsty annual tradition that calls for a boy and girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to be called forth from any of the districts to fight to the death in a televised battle, with the last person standing being crowned the winner. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, both 16 years old, are chosen by lottery to compete, but things aren’t as straightforward as they seem.
Lindsay Eyers of the Book People said: “’The Hunger Games’ is one of the best young adult fiction books to be released in recent years and has already gripped many readers. It’s ideal for both teenagers and adults thanks to Suzanne Collins’ talented writing and we fully expect that, following the major film premiere on Friday, the book will become an even bigger hit.”
The film stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, while Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz and Donald Sutherland also star. ‘The Hunger Games’ film adaptation has been directed by Gary Ross, who also directed‘Pleasantville’ and ‘Sea Biscuit’, and author Suzanne Collins adapted the novel for the screen.
The Book People is dedicated to providing readers with cheap books and are selling The Hunger Games trilogy for just £4.99. The RRP for this trilogy is £23.97, meaning those who buy the book set from the Book People will save a huge £18.98!
