Woolworths.co.uk, the online family superstore, has handed out free royal wedding street-party packs to residents of streets, avenues, drives, closes and terraces with Kate, Catherine or William in their name to help celebrate the most anticipated marriage of the last three decades.
Based on pre-sales of Royal Wedding decorations and royal wedding souvenirs, Woolies predicts that on the day of the Royal Wedding, the UK will see a minimum of 1,000 street parties.
Woolworths has identified 740 streets across the UK with Kate, Catherine or William in their name, and is offering residents of these streets the free street-party pack to enjoy the big day.
Woolworths.co.uk is predicting that outside of London, Yorkshire is expected to host the highest number of street parties as it is home to 39 William and 14 Catherine streets, closes, drives, avenues, terraces, lane and roads.
Other hotspots across the country have been identified as Liverpool (9xWilliam & 3xCatherine), Birmingham (6xWilliam and 1xCatherine) and Southampton (4xWilliam & 2xCatherine).
Woolworths is also putting a call out to the two William Streets and the one Catherine Street in Hull to join in the celebrations, as the city is the least likely to host a party, with the council there announcing that they have received no applications for street parties to date.
Dan Rubel, head of family fun at Woolworths.co.uk, said: “Our research tell us that those living on streets with a royal connection are most likely to throw a street party on the date of the Royal Wedding.
