Tesco extends its same day online grocery delivery service across the entire UK

 

CHESHUNT, England, 2017-Jul-27 — /EPR Retail News/ — Tesco has today (24 Jul 2017) announced it is extending its same day online grocery delivery service across the entire UK, making it the first retailer to offer nationwide same day grocery delivery.

Tesco launched same day grocery delivery in London and the South East in 2014 and is now extending the service to over 300 stores across the UK, covering over 99% of UK households. This is the biggest reach of any retailer in the UK, stretching from the Shetland Islands in Scotland to Cornwall in south-west England.

Customers can order by 1pm to have their shopping delivered from 7pm onwards and receive an unlimited number of items. The new service is priced between £3 and £8 but is free for a limited period to members of Tesco’s online delivery membership scheme, Delivery Saver.

Same day deliveries are proving increasingly popular with Tesco seeing an 18% growth in demand for the service so far this year.

Earlier this year Tesco also extended its Same Day Click+Collect service to 300 locations across the UK and today’s announcement means it is the only retailer to offer both Same Day grocery delivery and Click+Collect nationwide.

Adrian Letts, managing director of Tesco Online said:

“Customers tell us they like getting their shopping delivered quickly and conveniently, and with our same day delivery service they can now order by lunch to get their shopping delivered for their evening meal.

He adds:“We’ve seen the service grow in popularity since we launched it in London and the South East so we’re really excited to be rolling it out to customers nationwide.”

  • Nationwide rollout of same day delivery will be complete by the end of August.
  • Same Day Delivery is available seven days a week in London and the South East and six days a week (Monday to Saturday) across the rest of the UK.
  • Same day Flexi-saver home delivery slots are available from £3 and one hour slots from £4.
  • Order by 1 pm for delivery from 7 pm.
  • Tesco delivered its first online order back in 1984 when Jane Snowball from Gateshead ordered groceries to be delivered from her local store. Since then its online grocery service has evolved to offer a variety of options, including home delivery, Click and Collect and Delivery Saver – a loyalty scheme to help regular online customers save more. In June Tesco further enhanced its grocery delivery service by launching Tesco Now, which offers deliveries within an hour to customers in Central London.

Tesco now offers one hour grocery delivery service via Tesco Now app

CHESHUNT, England, 2017-Jun-28 — /EPR Retail News/ — From 26 June customers will be available to order, via the new Tesco Now app, up to 20 items from a range of 1000 products.

The range will include everyday products, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, bakery goods and dairy, as well as pet, baby, health and beauty products. Orders will be picked in a local store and delivered to customers via moped within 60 minutes.

Customers will also be able to track their order via the Tesco Now app, receiving live updates on the progress of their order.

Tesco Now is available to customers in some central London postcodes between 8am until 11pm on weekdays and 9am until 11pm at weekends. The service is priced at £7.99 with no minimum spend on each order.

Tesco extends its Delivery Saver with new monthly membership plans

 

CHESHUNT, England, 2017-May-15 — /EPR Retail News/ — Tesco has announced it has extended Delivery Saver, its subscription service for online orders, introducing monthly membership plans.

The new monthly plans offer customers the benefits and flexibility of Delivery Saver without having to commit to a six month or yearly plan.

Customers can save up to £20 a month on a monthly plan* and receive unlimited deliveries of Tesco groceries, Tesco Direct, F&F clothing and Tesco Wine by the Case*.

The convenience of the Delivery Saver service is proving popular with Tesco customers, with a 25% increase in subscribers over the past year with the biggest increase coming from families who are looking for the convenience of online food shopping.

Adrian Letts, Managing Director of Tesco Online, said:

“We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to shop online with Tesco. More and more customers are choosing Delivery Saver because of the convenience and value it offers, especially the access to free home delivery and Click+Collect.

By giving customers the option of a monthly plan we hope to welcome even more shoppers to the service.”

Delivery Saver customers benefit from free next day grocery Click+Collect*, available at over 320 locations nationwide, and priority access to delivery and collection slots during Tesco’s most popular periods, such as Easter and Christmas.

Customers can use Clubcard points to pay for their Delivery Saver plan and if their plan costs more than they would have spent on delivery charges, they are refunded the difference through the Delivery Saver guarantee**.

Tesco launched Delivery Saver in 2012 offering online grocery deliveries and has since included a range of other products and services in the scheme. Free deliveries on Tesco Wine by the Case were added later that year. Technology, toys and household goods sold on Tesco Direct were added in 2013 and F&F clothing the following year.

Tesco provides more convenience for customers with extended Same Day Click and Collect service

 

CHESHUNT, England, 2017-Mar-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — Tesco has today (7 Mar 2017) announced it is extending its Same Day Click and Collect service, allowing customers to pick up their online groceries more quickly and easily than ever before.

Customers can now order an unlimited number of items before 9 am and book a two hour window to collect their groceries from midday onwards. This new slot is in addition to the existing offer, where customers can order by 1 pm to pick up from 4 pm. The service will now be available from more than 300 locations across the UK.

Tesco’s customers are increasingly turning to Click and Collect as a quick and convenient way to get their groceries with a 20% increase in the number of customers using the service in the past year. The Same Day collection option has proved particularly popular with almost 10% of Click and Collect orders now placed on the same day.

The new slot gives Tesco’s online customers more choice than ever before on how to receive their groceries.

Adrian Letts, Managing Director of Online at Tesco, said:

“More customers than ever are choosing to use our grocery Click and Collect service which is we’ve decided to introduce a new same day collection slot.

“We offer a range of ways to shop with Tesco and Click and Collect means customers can choose to pick up their shopping at a time and location that suits them, without having to hit the aisles themselves.”

These changes further improve Tesco’s online grocery service options open to customers with the retailer also offering same day home delivery to customers in London and the South East. Customers can order by 1pm to have their shopping on their doorstep from 6pm onwards.

To better reflect the cost of delivering the service and including this extra option, Tesco’s Click and Collect service is now priced between £0 and £4 depending on time and day of collection. Click and Collect and Same Day Delivery are free of charge for all Delivery Saver customers.

Same Day Click and Collect is available Monday to Saturday and priced between £2 and £4.

Same Day Delivery is available Monday to Saturday and priced between £3 and £7.

Next Day Click and Collect is priced between £0 and £2.

Same Day Click and Collect, Same Day Delivery and Next Day Click and Collect* are all free of charge for Delivery Saver customers.

*From March 13th onwards.
