The new Bu Sidra Al Meera shopping center is located on the street parallel to the Al Furousiya Street in the Al Rayyan area, landing on the intersection of the Al Ishraq Street and Al Ikhaa Street. The 4250 m2 branch entails 2100 m2 of supermarket area, in addition to 10 other shops and a food court, which will begin providing its services to the shopping center’s visitors at the soonest.

The shopping center was built in accordance with the highest international standards and has been equipped with modern interior designs and lighting systems that ensure a distinctive shopping experience. The center feature a supermarket equipped with world-class technologies and facilities, a huge parking space, and a variety of shops and restaurants, further fulfilling the Company’s vision of becoming consumers’ ‘Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer’.

The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera in the presence of Mr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Marri, a member of the 13th District Central Municipal Council and Al Meera representatives.

If there is no quorum, the second meeting will be held on Sunday 4th September 2016 at 6:30 pm. If there is no quorum, the third meeting will be held on Wednesday 5th October 2016 at 6:00 pm in same place.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and approve the Amendments of the Articles of Association of the company to comply with the provisions of the Commercial Companies Law no. 11 for the year 2015.

QATAR, 2016-Apr-26 — /EPR Retail News/ — In the framework of its annual commitment to present generous offers that satisfy customers during the holy month of Ramadan, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (QSC), yesterday, announced its distinctive offers for Ramadan for the year 1437 AH, which is based on selling 1437 consumer goods at cost price, in honor of the Islamic Year 1437. The offer’s coming into effect will be announced within days and will continue until the end of the holy month at all of Al Meera branches in the country through various shelf tags that indicated the products at cost – in the context of Al Meera’s pursuit to provide the best and highest quality and most attractive products to all customers according to the highest standards in shopping and food safety.

Exceptional Offers

Al Meera has also begun, in coordination with its local suppliers, working on providing the largest possible number of offers on consumer products, which will reach around 850 items, in addition to approximately 300 deals on household  and kitchenware items.

Social initiatives

In parallel with its open handed initiative at branches and sales operations, Al Meera continues to support strides aiming to help achieve food and health safety. Al Meera has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Public Health (MPH) and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q to implement a public health awareness campaign, through the provision of a wide range of nutrition information to aid in selecting a healthy and balanced diet, via posters displayed in a number of Al Meera branches. The company is working hard with its partners to launch the project before the holy month.

Moreover, Al Meera will not hesitate to support campaigns that introduce some chronic diseases or ones that require raising awareness about, such as “diabetes,” “obesity” and others, through the provision of suitable spaces to host such events to educate Al Meera patrons about healthy lifestyles that must be adopted on a daily basis, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Supporting charitable organizations

Honoring the company’s annual traditions, Al Meera will support Ramadan projects and programs carried out by associations and charitable organizations in the country, along the lines of “Eid Charity”, “Qatar Charity”, and the “Qatar Red Crescent,” according to the resources available. In this context, it is worth mentioning that Al Meera will coordinate with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs for the distribution of water and paper tissue during the “Tarawih” prayers at the major mosques in the country during the holy month.

Special offers with partners

Regarding providing more reward options for customers, Al Meera will announce within days, the campaigns and special offers with its partners such as Ooredoo and QNB during Ramadan.

Expansion

In the framework of its commitment to the Qatar National Vision 2030, Al Meera has developed a strategic plan to expand in the Qatari market, where it is currently working on the completion of its plan to establish 14 new branches in various regions of the country. In addition to beginning works at five shopping centers last year in each of North Sailiya (Al Miarad), Leabaib 2, Al Wakra (West), Umm Salal Ali, and Bu Sidra, which are expected to be delivered within the next three months.

Construction agreement with Al Muftah Contracting Company and Al Khayarin Group Contracting and Trading

Recently, the company announced that it has signed contracts with with Al Khayarin Group Contracting and Trading and Al Muftah Contracting Company, to build six new stores in the coming period with a total contract value of QR 238,730,146 – These agreements were made in accordance with the company’s procedures through the tender and auction committee’s recommendation being lead by Dr. Saif Said Al Sowaidi and of course the board of director’s approval.

Al Muftah Contracting Company will handle executive works at each of the branches located in Rawdat Aba El Heran, Azghawa, Leabaib and Umm Qarn, that will be built on a land area of 10,805 m2, 6,311 m2, 17,390 m2 and 10,230 m2 respectively.

On the other hand, Al Khayarin Group Contracting and Trading, will work on establishing two new Al Meera shopping stores in Al Khor and Saileya, on a land area of 15,000 m2 each.

Emanating from its cooperation with national companies and in line with the country’s vision of the development of areas outside of Doha, Al Meera has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the operation and management of two shopping centers, in Fox Hills North and North Residential Villas districts in Lusail City.

Al Meera’s expansion plans also include the opening of new branches that serves students at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, where negotiations are currently underway to sign contracts for the operation of two spaces at student housings (around 80 square meters each), and a space at the Students Center in Education City (approximately 150 square meters).

The company is also negotiating with the “Doha Institute For Graduate Studies”, to operate a supermarket which is approximately 150 sqm to serve the Institute’s students. Not to forget that negotiations are also being undertaken with Qatar Arm forces and Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College for the inauguration of a branch there.

Qatar: Al Meera Consumer Goods Company to launch a public health awareness campaign to promote healthy eating habits

QATAR, 2016-Apr-15 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Ministry of Public Health (MPH) signed today (Tuesday April 12th) a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) and Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) to launch a public health awareness campaign, with the aim of providing the public with a wide range of valuable nutrition information through posters displayed at a number of Al Meera branches across Qatar. The posters are intended to help consumers take informed decisions regarding their healthy and balanced diets.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Marri, Assistant Secretary General for Medical Affairs at the Ministry of Public Health; Dr. Javaid Sheikh, Dean, WCM-Q, represented at the ceremony by Nesreen Al-Rifai, Chief Communications Officer at WCM-Q; and Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera.

“This MoU is part of our concerted efforts to promote public health awareness, especially as far as healthy diet is concerned, and the Ministry of Public Health attaches special importance to raising health awareness in the community in cooperation with all concerned partners,” said Dr. Al-Marri.

He added that the Qatar STEPS Noncommunicable Disease Risk Factors Survey 2012 showed that the majority of adult Qataris (91%) consumed less than five servings of fruits and/or vegetables on average per day, 45.9% of them had low physical activity, 41.4% of the respondents were obese and 70% were overweight.

“These worrying numbers add to the importance of this crucial campaign which aligns with other important efforts, particularly the National Nutrition and Physical Activity Plan, part of the National Health Strategy,” Dr. Al-Mari added.

Dr. Al-Marri applauded the fruitful cooperation between MPH and WCM-Q which resulted in several initiatives, most important of which is Sahtak Awalan – Your Health First which has largely contributed to promoting health awareness amongst the different segments of the community in cooperation with other partners. He also commended the cooperation between MPH and the private sector to enhance public health awareness, with the fruitful cooperation with Al Meera setting a good example in this regard.

“Al Meera is committed to its role in social development, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, and thus is keen on supporting initiatives that aim to promote food safety and healthy eating habits,” said Dr Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera.

Dr. Al Qahtani stressed the importance of the MoU and the cooperation of the concerned parties to spread health awareness in the country, saying that Al Meera contributes in spreading this message through its health awareness posters displayed at five  of its branches as a first step, namely Legtaifiya, Gulf Mall, Al Wakra (South), Thakhira and Géant Hypermarket, with plans to roll out the program later at more branches.

The MoU stipulates that MPH will set up a task force to help with preparing and revising the posters, implement the health program at workplaces, carry out a survey to assess the needs of Al Meera employees (pre-survey) and conduct health check-ups for them. The MoU also involves a mutually beneficial exchange of expertise. The MPH will provide advice to all parties concerned whenever needed, promote wellness at workplaces, and assess public health knowledge and awareness (post-survey).

WCM-Q will contribute to nutrition information of the posters in accordance with the MPH’s Qatar Dietary Guidelines and will set up a work force to help with implementing the program and preparing the posters.

Al Meera will also set up a task force that will help with implementing the nutrition posters program and promoting healthy lifestyles, will host awareness activities at suitable times and will encourage consumers to adopt healthier lifestyles.

QATAR, 2015-11-27 — /EPR Retail News/ — Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) celebrated its 10-year anniversary, capping a decade of achievements that have poured into customer and shareholder satisfaction.

Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) was established in 2005 under the law (24) for the year 2004, in a transfer of the COOP to a Qatari shareholding company. Within the first few months of its establishment, Al Meera has garnered the support and backing of Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar and His Highness, the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

In a recent press conference, the company celebrated the achievements that have marked its journey since its establishment and, on the occasion of its tenth anniversary, offered customers a Cash Back of 10 percent of their purchase value – with each customer receiving a QAR 50 purchase voucher on every purchase transaction of QAR 500 – during the period running from November 25, 2015 through to December 4, 2015.

Expansion and renovation

Speaking of the company’s strategic expansion and branch renovation vision, Dr. Al Qahtani said:

“Since Al Meera’s identity was revamped under the slogan “Your Favourite neighbourhood retailer”, the company has poured its energy and efforts into living up to its motto, beginning with the overhaul and modern redesigned of several flagship branches.”

He added:

“The company has also proceeded with the build and launch of a series of branches, the first of which was the Abu Nakhla branch, followed by two modern shopping centers to serve the residents and visitors of Nuaija and Legtaifia – in line with the company’s expansionary policy across the state’s various areas. Additionally, the company has leaded a branch from the Dasman Group, with a later launch slated for the Al Meera Hypermarket on the airport road.”

He continued saying:

“Al Meera’s expansion plans have continued at the service of all of the state’s territories, including the setup and launch of 9 new branches, as well as the lease of the Gulf Mall branch, bringing our network to a total of 47 branches – 42 of which are in the State of Qatar and, five of which are in the Sultanate of Oman.”

Dr. Al Qahtani stressed on that all of the Al Meera branches have been equipped with world-class technologies and solutions that reflect innovation and modernity, starting with advanced lighting systems and all the way to the latest storage processes and technologies and topnotch shelves. Moreover, the company has consistently developed its shopping experience and product display strategy at the service of a seamless consumer journey – including space planning around commercial and hospitality outlets, as well as parking lots.

New branches in the years to come

Dr. Al Qahtani also noted that the company’s expansion plans are stretching to the setup of 14 new stores spread across the country; a result of strategic research and strategy to keep pace with Qatar’s urban planning, which has extended to new areas and others that have recently witnessed a population boom. Year-on-year double-digit growth in profits

On a profitability level, Al Qahtani noted that Al Meera’s strategic decisions across all its operations have contributed to a net sales jump from QAR 507.9 million in 2006 to QAR 2.176 billion in 2014. Moreover, net shareholder return has raised nearly 10 times more from QAR 26.1 million in 2006 to QAR 226.6 million in 2014, with earnings per share jumping from QAR 2.61 in 2006 to QAR 11.33 in 2014.

QATAR, 2015-11-9 — /EPR Retail News/ — Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) announced the opening of its Al Thuamama branch, marking the 46th addition to the successful supermarket chain.

The opening of the new branch came as a response to the needs of Al Thumama’s community and those surrounding it, due to their lack of shopping facilities; and also as part of Al Meera’s aim to serve all areas in Qatar. The new branch was constructed according to international standards and with modern interiors to provide customers with a more convenient and enjoyable shopping experience.

The Al Thumama branch has an area of 3770 sqm, and two entrances to provide convenient access to shoppers in addition to a huge parking space. In the near future, the branch will feature 5 shops that are set to open soon to provide customers with a variety of services. The 1,430-sqm-supermarket area utilizes high-tech lighting and storage techniques and technologies that adhere to international standards.

Commenting on this occasion, Dr. Al Qahtani said:

“Al Meera has made a big effort to complete the Al Thumama branch, and succeeded in doing so as well as preparing it for its opening as per schedule, after obtaining the necessary permits and approvals for that. That being said, we are very happy to be serving a new segment of the Qatari society.”

Dr. Al Qahtani pointed out that the new branch will be serving the Al Thumama, Al Matar Al Qadeem, and Rawdat Al Matar areas.

He added: “The opening of the Al Thumama branch is in line with Al Meera’s slogan to be ‘Your Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer’, and expand into newly developed areas as well as areas that have witnessed a significant increase in population.”

Dr. Al Qahtani stressed that Al Meera’s expansion and development strategy will not stop at any point, and will continue to keep pace with the development of the different areas in State, which is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. “We will not stop developing, expanding and serving all areas,” he said.

He also gave thanks to all those who worked together with Al Meera to open the Al Thumama branch, especially the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the Public Works Authority “Ashghal”, and the KAHRAMAA Corporation.

He also thanked  Ms. Sheikha Bint Yousef Al Jufairi, Member of the Central Municipal Council, who was in charge of the area before the redistribution of roles after the new elections and Ms. Fatima Bint Ahmed Al Kuwari, Area Representative at the Municipal Council who both played a big role in the realization of this development.

Al Meera is set to launch another branch in Rawdat Ekdeem later this year in the coming weeks, after obtaining the necessary approvals and licenses from the relevant authorities. It also plans to establish two additional branches, characterized by a unique design in Al-Jamiliyah and Al Shamal, and will continue opening other new branches whenever the opportunity presents itself.

It should be noted that there is constant coordination with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning in order to act upon their suggestions while considering our requests in terms of new locations, such as Rawdat Al Hamam North, Al Sheehaniya North, Madkhal al Khuraib, Rawdat Rashed, Umm Al Umd, Al Khuraitiyat and others.

Within its framework to expand its outlets in all areas of Qatar, Al Meera has begun the construction works on several other branches as part of its expansion strategy to construct 14 new shopping malls across the State, located in Sailiya North, Bu Sidra, Al Wakra 3, Umm Salal Ali, Leabaib 1, Leabaib 2, Rawdat Aba El-Heran, Azghawa, Al Khor, Um Qarn, Rawdat Al Hamama, Jeryan Jenaihat, Al Sailiya and Ain Khaled.

Al Meera Consumer Goods Company supports Doha 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships

QATAR, 2015-10-28 — /EPR Retail News/ — Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C.) is proud to announce its support of the Doha 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships, which is hosted from the 21st until the 31st of October at the Qatar Sports Club.

The largest para-sport event ever to come to the Middle East is seeing 1,300 para-athletes from 100 countries competing to be the best in the world and vie for qualifying spots to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. All proceeds of ticket sales will be donated to charity.

Al Meera is extending its support by providing fresh fruits throughout the competition to athletes and organizers. The supermarket chain also provides its customers with free ticket vouchers to the IPC Athletics World Championships at its Thakhira, Mansoura, Legtaifiya, Hazm Markhiya, Nuaija branches in addition to Géant hypermarket in Hyatt Plaza mall with terms and conditions applied.

Free vouchers are also given away to Al Meera fans on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  Tousands of vouchers are to be given away throughout the days of the event, leading up to the event, which are then exchanged for tickets at the Qatar Sports Club.

Entitled “My Incredible Story”, the films tell the stories of triumph over adversity and so far have chronicled athletes Terezinha Guilhermina, Jarryd Wallace, Giusy Versace, Thuraya Al Zaabi and the “youth ambassador” Ghanim Al Muftah.

Al Meera Consumer Goods Company opens its newest branch in Al Wajba, Qatar

The new branch boasts world-class shelves to offer the best products display to its customers, in addition to high-tech lighting and storage techniques and technologies that adhere to international standards.

Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera Consumer Goods Company, inaugurated the opening ceremony in the presence of Mr. Cobus Lombard, Operations Director, Mr. Saeed M. Al-Nabet ; Administration Affairs Manager and Mr. Khalid Al Jassim; Safety and Security manager along with several Al Meera representatives.

The 4,300 sqm Al Wajba branch constitutes 2,022 sqm of supermarket area. The store offers shoppers a wide variety of food and non-food related items as well as fresh products. The branch includes a butchery, fishery, delicatessen, fruits and vegetables area and bakery to answer to the consumers’ various daily needs at very competitive prices. In addition to a huge parking space, the branch will feature 7 shops that are set to open soon to provide customers with a variety of services.

While discussing the expansion plan, Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera, said:

Within its framework to open 56 outlets in all areas of Qatar, Al Meera has begun the construction works on several other branches as part of its expansion strategy to construct 14 new shopping malls across the State, located in Sailiya North (Miarad), Bu Sidra, Al Wakra 3, Umm Salal Ali, Leabaib 1, Leabaib 2, Rawdat Aba El-Heran, Azghawa, Al Khor, Um Qarn, Rawdat Al Hamama, Jeryan Jenaihat, Al Sailiya and Ain Khaled.

It is worth mentioning that Al Meera signed a memorandum of understanding with Lusail Real Estate Development for the operation and management of two shopping centres in  Fox Hills and North Villas District.
