CANTON, Mass., 2017-Dec-13 — /EPR Retail News/ — With the holidays right around the corner, it can be hard to cross everything off your list in time. With gift shopping, meal planning, decorating and sending out holiday cards, there are too many things to do and so little time. Here at Baskin-Robbins, we are getting ready for the festivities with our holiday ice cream cake lineup that makes it easy for guests to bring a winter wonderland feel to any holiday gathering.

New to the cake lineup this year is our Winter Wonderland Cake. This cake is decorated in beautiful icy blues, a White Dipping Chocolate drizzled edge, and topped with sparkling glitter. This cake is also customizable with guest’s favorite ice cream and cake flavors and serves 12-16 people.

To get the inside scoop on the latest culinary innovation, we spoke with Sara Cox, Research and Development Manager for Baskin-Robbins, who designed this sparkling masterpiece. The inspiration for this cake came from Sara identifying a need for a cake design that simply celebrates the winter season. Baskin-Robbins offers an expansive holiday ice cream cake lineup, which includes a Santa Cake, Snowman Cake, Elf Cake, and Chanukah Menorah Cake. The addition of the Winter Wonderland cake helped complete our holiday cakes lineup. To bring this cake to life she followed the drip cake trend and aimed to keep the design simple and elegant while incorporating standing rosettes made with butter crème to give the cake additional dimension.

We also have our seasonal favorite Fudge Yule Log Cake returning just in time for the holiday festivities. This cake combines Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and chocolate cake rolled together with white icing, then topped with holly leaf decorations and three red candles. When speaking with Sara about the inspiration behind this cake, she noted that it’s a Baskin-Robbins twist on a classic design that evokes nostalgia during the holiday season.

When putting these two ice cream cakes together, it creates an instant winter wonderland feel. You can dress up your tablescape as we have done in the above image by adding powdered sugar, candy canes and Christmas lights to your cake display.

This is the second Baskin-Robbins location for existing franchisee and former brand employee, Chris Locher, who opened his first shop in Roswell in 2015.

LARGEST ICE CREAM SPECIALTY SHOP CONTINUES STRATEGIC U.S. MILITARY VETERAN RECRUITMENT IN 2016

CANTON, MA, 2017-Nov-13 — /EPR Retail News/ — Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, announced its third consecutive year of positive net new unit growth in the U.S. In 2015, 19 net new U.S. shops opened across the country, in states including California, Kentucky and Louisiana. This represents nearly double the number of net new restaurant openings the brand had originally projected for 2015.

Baskin-Robbins also signed store development agreements in 2015 with new and existing franchisees to open new future locations in several areas, including Dalton, Ga.; Escondido and Los Angeles, Calif.; Louisville, Ky.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Lima, Ohio; and San Antonio, Texas, among others. In 2016, the company plans to focus on recruiting franchisees in areas with warmer climates and high levels of tourism, such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Diego.

Additionally, Baskin-Robbins continues to add more military veterans to its U.S. franchisee base by offering one of the best financial incentives in the industry. The extraordinary incentive program* offers a free initial franchise fee, a $25,000 value, for a veteran’s first shop and heavily discounted royalty rates for the first five years that the store is open. Since 2013 when the program was introduced, the brand has awarded the incentive to five new franchisees across the U.S. The incentive program will continue to be offered in 2016, so qualified veterans are encouraged to apply to be considered.

For interested candidates who are not military veterans, the brand also offers compelling financial incentives* nationwide that includes 50 percent off the initial franchise fee and reduced royalty rates for five years.

Baskin-Robbins signs store development agreements for three new ice cream shops in Banning and Temecula, California

CANTON, MA, 2017-Nov-13 — /EPR Retail News/ — Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, announced today the signing of store development agreements with two franchise groups to develop three new ice cream shops in Banning and Temecula, Calif., over the next few years. Currently, there are more than 450 Baskin-Robbins shops located throughout California and growing the brand here remains a priority for the company in 2016.

New franchise group M DB Enterprises, LLC, led by husband-and-wife team Hemant and Hemlatta Bhakta, plans to develop one new ice cream shop in Banning. Hemant previously held several positions with Baskin-Robbins before deciding to open his own ice cream shop with his wife and two children. The new Banning location is planned to open at the end of this year.

“In 1978, I fell in love with Baskin-Robbins when I first tasted the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae as a customer,” said Hemant Bhatka, new Baskin-Robbins franchisee. “I’ve been a loyal guest ever since and chose to follow that passion in the early 90’s and become a member of the team. I’ve held various positions with the beloved brand over the past 20 years, and now I’m delighted to be opening a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop of my own in Banning.”

Gary and Maria Yarbrough, existing Baskin-Robbins franchisees since 2011 and longtime San Diego residents, plan to develop two new ice cream shops in Temecula. Gary and Maria currently own and operate a Baskin-Robbins in Chula Vista and are developing a second location in the area, which is slated to open in April. Their first ice cream shop in Temecula is planned to open in 2017, with the second location following in 2018.

“After experiencing significant growth with our Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops in Chula Vista, my wife and I knew it was time to expand our portfolio with two additional locations,” said Gary Yarbrough, Baskin-Robbins franchisee. “We’re looking forward to bringing the brand’s fun and flavors to the local community in Temecula.”

To fuel additional growth throughout the state, Baskin-Robbins recently launched a new development strategy offering turn-key opportunities to individuals interested in becoming franchisees, but with an easier start. Baskin-Robbins has plans to develop a new 1,000 sq ft shop in the proposed Breakwater Town Center in Imperial Beach and is currently seeking a local entrepreneur interested in owning this location. CANTON, Mass., 2017-Nov-02 — /EPR Retail News/ — The secret’s out! Baskin-Robbins’ November Flavor of the Month is Tiramisu. So naturally, Kelly German, Research & Development Senior Technologist for Baskin-Robbins, has created a Tiramisu recipe using the Tiramisu Flavor of the Month, and it is drool worthy.

Our indulgent November Flavor of The Month features Tiramisu-flavored ice cream filled with real pound cake pieces, chocolate flakes, and a decadent chocolate coffee ribbon. The chocolate flakes come from a fifth-generation family-owned business that has been around for nearly 150 years. To get that coffee taste, the flavor’s base and ribbon feature brewed coffee made from Colombian beans. Delicious!

You may be familiar with this ice cream flavor as it was inspired by the popular Italian dessert that was invented in Treviso, Italy. Now, we hope you enjoy this new spin on the classic dessert, featuring our Tiramisu ice cream!

Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Tiramisu

Ingredients:

  • 4 large shots (approximately 12 ounces) of espresso (I used espresso from a local Dunkin’ Donuts!)
  • 4 ounces of Kahlua or a coffee liquor of your choice (optional)
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • A regular size of Baskin-Robbins fresh- packed Tiramisu ice cream
  • Chocolate shell ice cream topping

Instructions:

  1. Line a rectangular 5×9 inch pan with either waxed paper or parchment paper.
  2. Combine the shots of espresso with Kahlua (if using).
  3. Dipping your ladyfingers in the coffee and Kahlua mixture first line the bottom of the lined pan with 8 dipped ladyfingers.
  4. Add a layer (about an inch think) of Tiramisu ice cream.
  5. Repeat steps (3) and (4) twice more, creating two layers each of ice cream and three layers of dipped ladyfingers, ending with the ladyfingers on the bottom.
  6. Freeze for three hours.
  7. To remove from the pan, place a piece of wax paper on the top, place hand on the wax paper covered ladyfinger layer, flip the pan upside down and run the bottom of the pan under warm water. The parchment should easily slide out at this point.
  8. To finish, top with chocolate shell ice cream topping and refreeze for about 30 minutes.
  9. Cut into slices, serve and enjoy!

Latimer joins Dunkin’ Brands after nearly two decades in leadership positions at PepsiCo, most recently as Vice President of Research & Development, Global Beverage Category. In this role, she led a 65+ person product development & culinary team, responsible for innovation and portfolio transformation for PepsiCo’s global beverage category, including the food service platform, North American Coffee and Pepsi’s Lipton Tea partnership. She also helped oversee the creation and launch of several new and next generation brand products, including Pepsi’s first premium water, LifeWtr, as well as IZZE Fusions, Stubborn Craft Soda, PureLeaf Tea House Collections, Starbucks Cold Brew, Mtn Dew KickStart and many more.

Latimer has also held positions at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons and Kraft Foods, and served on the Board of Governors of the Flavor Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA). A native of Westchester, NY, Latimer received her B.S. in Biochemistry from McGill University, and her M.S. in Biotechnology from Manhattan College. She is currently working towards a PhD in Food Science.

QSR Group will develop five Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Macon, Georgia, including two multi-brand locations with Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops. Guzaratti, LLC will develop one Dunkin’ Donuts location in a gas and convenience store.

This new “green” location features three different power sources which will allow Dunkin’ Donuts to continue serving customers if the surrounding area loses power. The Buckhead location is scheduled to open by the end of 2017.

The study also shows the role ice cream plays in bringing families together.

In time for Father’s Day, the survey unveiled many unique findings around dads and ice cream, including:

  • Dads use ice cream to incentivize – Dads are almost 75 percent more likely than moms to use ice cream to bribe their kids to do something they don’t want to do, such as a chore
  • Ice cream is a peacemaker – Dads (77 percent) are more than twice as likely as moms (30 percent) to use ice cream to resolve a conflict or argument
    • More than half of dads (51 percent) have used ice cream to resolve an argument with their spouse
  • Ice cream as a pick-me-up – Nine out of 10 dads give their children ice cream when they are feeling sad or disappointed to help cheer them up
  • I Scream, You Scream – Almost all parents (96 percent) agree that ice cream is a great treat to enjoy with their family and friends
  • Sneaking a Pint – One in five dads prefer to eat ice cream when their spouse is not around, and almost one-quarter of dads want to have some alone time this Father’s Day

Survey Reveals Just How Often Moms and Dads Bribe and Reward their Children with Ice Cream, as well as the role ice cream plays in bringing families together

The survey unveiled many interesting findings, including the following:

  • Moms reward their children with ice cream more than dads – Moms (66 percent) are more likely than dads (58 percent) to treat their child to ice cream as a reward for doing something good
  • Ice cream is a great incentive – Two-thirds of parents use ice cream to incentivize their child to do something they don’t enjoy doing, but dads are 65 percent more likely than moms to use ice cream as an incentive for children to do their chores
  • Ice cream is children’s favorite treat – 62 percent of parents say ice cream is their child’s favorite treat, with chocolate as a distant second at 20 percent
  • Ice cream brings people together – 96 percent of parents say ice cream is a great treat to enjoy with friends and family, and 90 percent of parents have fond memories of their own parents treating them to ice cream as a child
  • Ice cream as a peacemaker – More than half of parents (54 percent) have used ice cream to resolve a conflict, but dads (77 percent) are more than twice as likely to do so than moms (30 percent)
  • Dads eat ice cream more frequently than moms – 72 percent of dads eat ice cream on a weekly basis, while only 54 percent of moms indulge in this sweet treat weekly
  • Ice cream as a quiet escape – Moms are five times more likely than dads to say they prefer to eat ice cream alone

Baskin-Robbins to develop three new ice cream shops in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills with new franchisee Sharooz Setareh

Largest Chain of Ice Cream Specialty Shops Hosts Franchising Seminars in Vista on Sept. 13 and Long Beach on Sept. 15 to Fuel Southern California Growth

CANTON, MA, 2017-Mar-24 — /EPR Retail News/ — Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, announced today the signing of a multi-unit store development agreement with new franchisee Sharooz Setareh to develop three new ice cream shops in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills over the next few years. Currently, there are more than 460 Baskin-Robbins shops located throughout California and growing the brand here remains a priority for the company in 2016.

As a long-time Los Angeles resident, Sharooz brings a wealth of business management experience to Baskin-Robbins, having owned a beauty supply chain and clothing manufacturing company, which he still operates today. The first shop under this agreement opened in Santa Monica earlier this year. He plans on opening his second Baskin-Robbins shop in 2017, with the third location following in 2018.

“I’ve always wanted to be in the business of making people happy. I grew up enjoying Baskin-Robbins ice cream and never left without a smile on my face,” said Sharooz Setareh, Baskin-Robbins franchisee. “When I was ready to add another brand to my portfolio, I looked for one that would allow me to bring that same smile to my customers. I learned about Baskin-Robbins’ franchise opportunities from an old friend and multi-unit franchisee with the brand. I immediately signed on to develop three Baskin-Robbins shops and look forward to growing the brand throughout Los Angeles.”

To fuel additional growth, Baskin-Robbins continues to offer simplified, turnkey development opportunities to prospective franchising candidates. The company has sold two of these ready-to-operate shops so far this year in California and has another turnkey opportunity available now in Vista. The first turnkey shop in Porterville was sold to existing franchisee franchisee Harpreet Gill and opened earlier this summer. The second shop in Imperial Beach was sold to new franchisee Alejandro Kochergan and is planned to open early next year.

CANTON, MA, 2017-Mar-07 — /EPR Retail News/ — Dunkin’ Brands Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: DNKN), the parent company of Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, today (March 2, 2017) announced plans to remove artificial colors from its products in the U.S. As part of the company’s ongoing efforts to offer guests great-tasting, high-quality products and cleaner menu labels, both the Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins product development teams, in partnership with suppliers, have been working to eliminate synthetic colors from their food and beverages and replace the ingredients with naturally sourced colorings in the U.S. by the end of 2018.

Within the next two years, Dunkin’ Donuts will remove synthetic colors across its menu, including donut icings, fillings and toppings, as well as frozen beverages such as Fruit Smoothies and COOLATTA® frozen beverages, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches and coffee flavorings. Similarly, Baskin-Robbins will remove synthetic colors from its menu, including ice cream sold both at its restaurants and in quarts and pints at retail locations, as well as its syrups, sauces, sprinkles and beverages, including Cappuccino Blast®. The exceptions on both brands’ menus include select supplier-branded ingredients produced by other companies and used as toppings, ice cream inclusions or decorative elements. Additionally, Baskin-Robbins will take a longer period of time to find replacements for the decorative elements on its ice cream cakes.

In 2014, Dunkin’ Brands conducted a comprehensive menu review that resulted in a new product development process focused on reformulating many of its products to enhance menu quality by simplifying ingredient labels and lowering sodium and sugar content without sacrificing taste.

CANTON, Mass, 2017-Feb-09 — /EPR Retail News/ — This year, Baskin-Robbins is helping guests celebrate Valentine’s Day with two new Love Potion #31 treats, inspired by the classic ice cream flavor! Love Potion #31 is a classic Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavor that was originally introduced in 1995. It features white chocolate-flavored and raspberry ice creams, a raspberry ribbon, chocolate chips and raspberry-filled chocolate-flavored hearts.

Our Love Potion #31 ice cream flavor inspired our new Love Potion #31 Cookie and Love Potion #31 Polar Pizza. Our culinary team explained that they wanted to extend this original flavor into more desserts. “What motivated these new desserts is the uniqueness of the ice cream flavor. There really is nothing quite like it,” said Benjamin Stanley, Research and Development Senior Manager for Baskin-Robbins.

Baskin-Robbins launched our new Warm Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches and Sundaes last spring, and with Love Potion #31’s exceptional flavor, we had to make it into a cookie. The Love Potion #31 Cookie is a delicious chocolate raspberry flavored cookie with white chocolate and raspberry flavored chips. This cookie is the perfect complement to our Love Potion #31 ice cream, tasting absolutely delicious when paired in a Warm Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich or Sundae!

Similarly, Love Potion #31 translated particularly well into our Polar Pizza, which we brought back last summer. The Love Potion #31 Polar Pizza is made with a Double Fudge Brownie crust topped with Love Potion #31 ice cream, OREO cookie pieces, marshmallow topping, hot fudge and heart quins.

“The idea of Polar Pizza is that it is more of an everyday treat – it doesn’t have to be for a celebration like cakes. And Polar Pizza comes pre-cut, making it really easy to enjoy straight out of the box with friends and family,” said Sara Cox, Research and Development Manager. “Our new Love Potion #31 Polar Pizza is a fun extension of our Polar Pizza lineup, and is perfect this season.”
