eBay expands its Seller Hub with acquisition of Terapeak

Terapeak’s Tools and Insights to Help Sellers Better Manage and Grow Their Businesses on eBay

San Jose, CA, 2017-Dec-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — eBay today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Terapeak, a Toronto-based company that uses supply, demand and pricing data to help ecommerce sellers know what to sell, when to sell it and at what price on marketplaces such as eBay.  Upon the close of the transaction, eBay will begin integrating certain functionality from Terapeak into its Seller Hub. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Seller Hub brings valuable insights from eBay’s vast array of data directly to its sellers to help them manage and grow their business in one place – making professional selling on eBay easier.  The user-friendly interface enables sellers to manage their inventory and orders, access valuable performance insights, identify opportunities for growth and take advantage of ways to get their products in front of the right buyers faster and more efficiently.

“Nearly two million sellers currently manage their eBay business on Seller Hub.  Expanding Seller Hub to provide additional capabilities from Terapeak will help our sellers be even more successful and enable them to more effectively manage their businesses on eBay,” said Bob Kupbens, Vice President of B2C Selling at eBay.  “We are committed to being the best partner to our sellers as we look to create the most powerful selling platform. The integration of Terapeak’s functionalities into Seller Hub – from sales history and performance enhancement opportunities to price guidance and comparisons – will continue to help eBay’s merchants scale their businesses on eBay.”

“eBay’s planned acquisition of Terapeak makes so much sense for everyone involved, particularly for our customers,” said Kevin North, President and CEO of Terapeak.  “We are excited to continue our vision of empowering merchants to discover what to sell on eBay and how to optimize their listings for maximum performance. Over time Terapeak’s capabilities will become naturally integrated with eBay’s Seller Hub, therefore becoming more robust and providing merchants with a single place to manage and elevate their ecommerce business.”

The transaction is expected to close before the end of 2017, at which time Terapeak’s employees will report into eBay’s Bob Kupbens, Vice President of B2C Selling, or Sunil Rajasekar, Vice President of Seller Experience. Terapeak’s employees will continue to be based in Toronto, Ontario and Victoria, B.C.

Shopify merchants to list and sell their products on eBay directly from their Shopify account

Shopify merchants to list and sell their products on eBay directly from their Shopify account

New channel to bring added product choice to eBay customers.

San Jose, California, 2017-Jul-15 — /EPR Retail News/ — eBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) and Shopify Inc. (“Shopify”) (NYSE: SHOP, TSX: SHOP), the leading cloud-based, multichannel commerce platform, today (Jul 13, 2017) announced that Shopify merchants will soon be able to list and sell their products on eBay directly from their Shopify account.

With the new integration, Shopify merchants will have the opportunity to surface their brand and products to a massive new audience of more than 169 million active eBay buyers. eBay shoppers will benefit from added selection and choice from potentially hundreds of thousands of Shopify merchants.

This integration will also enable Shopify merchants to immediately sync inventory information such as product title and description, item specifics, price and quantity from Shopify to eBay. Customer orders will also be imported to Shopify and allow merchants to fulfill orders from both platforms in one location, while messages from buyers on eBay will also be visible within Shopify so their sellers won’t miss any important communications.

“eBay is focused on delivering the best choice and selection of inventory to buyers across the globe,” said Bob Kupbens, VP of Global Trust & Seller Experience, eBay. “This new integration with Shopify will bring even more great products to eBay buyers, while offering Shopify merchants the ability to seamlessly drive their business and brand at scale by tapping into our vibrant marketplace.”

This integration continues to make selling online easier for Shopify merchants to conveniently manage their product catalog across multiple channels like online, in-person, marketplaces, social and messaging all in one dashboard.

The eBay channel joins the fast-growing list of other Shopify sales channels, including Amazon, BuzzFeed, Facebook, Pinterest, Messenger and retail via Shopify’s Point of Sale, among others. These integrations are possible because of Shopify’s Sales Channel Platform, a collection of APIs that can be used to add commerce to any site, app, or platform. Sales channels are an important part of a Shopify merchant’s business strategy, and more than 60% of merchants sell in two or more channels.

“Shopify is the industry leader when it comes to multi-channel commerce, and we look to partner with the best and biggest platforms to bring new sales opportunities to our merchants,” said Satish Kanwar, VP of Product, Shopify. “The eBay channel has the potential to introduce our merchants to eBay’s millions of buyers, exposing merchants to a massive number of new sales opportunities.”

The eBay sales channel is expected to be available in Fall 2017 for Shopify merchants selling in USD in the United States.

Jointly-developed integration enables BigCommerce merchants to seamlessly list and manage inventory on the eBay marketplace.

San Jose, California, 2016-Nov-11 — /EPR Retail News/ — Today (Nov 10, 2016), eBay and BigCommerce announced the availability of a new integration that enables merchants to seamlessly list and sell products on the eBay marketplace, while also having the ability to manage inventory and orders natively through BigCommerce. Through the integration, BigCommerce merchants can now select products from their catalog and begin selling to more than 165 million active buyers on eBay in a matter of minutes, without the need for third-party apps or custom development.

“We’re thrilled to partner on a seamless solution for BigCommerce merchants to scale their businesses through eBay’s marketplace,” said Bob Kupbens, eBay’s Vice President of Business-to-Consumer Selling. “eBay helps every shopper find items that are perfect for them – and this integration will deliver even more choice and selection to eBay’s highly engaged and active global buyer base.”

On eBay today, shoppers enjoy amazing deals and a broad selection of inventory, in which 81% of merchandise sold is new and 87% is sold at fixed price. BigCommerce merchants that choose to sell on eBay can take advantage of unique benefits, such as:

  • Centralized inventory management and order processing: Merchants can simultaneously sell the same products and inventory across both eBay and their branded website while effortlessly syncing stock levels and eBay orders with their online store. Streamlined fulfillment and order management eliminates the need for manually managing processes across various channels.
  • Rapid bulk listing and central management: Merchants can create hundreds of eBay listings in minutes using customizable templates by automatically mapping products to eBay categories.
  • Channel-level control and customization: Merchants can tailor eBay listings by defining channel-specific descriptions and pricing while still using a common product catalog.
  • Scalable architecture: Thanks to utilization of eBay’s new APIs, merchants will benefit from more consistent and faster syncing.

“Our integration with eBay enables retailers to sell to the massive eBay community from a single platform unified with their branded websites,” said Brent Bellm, CEO of BigCommerce. “The eBay and BigCommerce partnership allows retailers to maximize their online sales while minimizing technical and operational complexity.”

The integration with BigCommerce represents a broader API initiative that eBay has recently undertaken to make both buying and selling easier than ever. In mid-October, eBay revamped its API platform with ten new standards-based APIs, with more to come in 2017.

With the release, BigCommerce is the only ecommerce platform to natively support selling across the world’s two largest marketplaces and leading social platforms, including Facebook and Pinterest.  BigCommerce merchants in the U.S. can configure the eBay sales channel in the control panel beginning today.
