US Foods welcomes David Works as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

ROSEMONT, Ill., 2018-Mar-02 — /EPR Retail News/ — US Foods Holding Corp. (NYSE: USFD) announced today (February 26, 2018) that David Works has joined the company as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, reporting to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Pietro Satriano.

Previously, Works led the HR organizations at Windstream and Sears Holdings. He also served as the president of the Enterprise Business Unit at Windstream. Works spent the first seven years of his career as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s submarine force. He began his post-Navy career as an engineer at Motorola, followed by time at McKinsey & Company and ghSMART, a firm which specializes in talent assessment and leadership development.

Works holds degrees in Finance and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Cafritz, 46, will lead all human resources and loss prevention areas with the primary responsibility of leading CarMax’s strategy to attract, develop and retain talent to support the company’s business and its future growth.

She was promoted to vice president in 2014. Prior to joining CarMax, she was employed by McDermott, Will & Emery in Washington, D.C. in the litigation department.

She earned her B.A. in Economics and International Relations at Tufts University, and received her J.D. from the University of Virginia.

Rite Aid Corporation appoints Ken Black SVP and chief human resources officer

CAMP HILL, Pa., 2017-Jan-25 — /EPR Retail News/ — Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE: RAD) today (Jan. 23, 2017) announced that Ken Black, Rite Aid’s current group vice president of compensation, benefits and shared services, has been named senior vice president and chief human resources officer, effective immediately. He is succeeding Dedra N. Castle, who is leaving the company for personal health reasons.

Black joined Rite Aid in 2003 as the company’s vice president of tax. He held various positions within the finance department throughout his career at Rite Aid before being named group vice president of compensation and benefits in 2010. In 2014, he earned a master’s degree in human resources development from Villanova University in Villanova, Pa.

Prior to joining Rite Aid, Black was a senior tax manager for Deloitte. He also held various corporate tax positions for Union Pacific Corporation and NBC.

Black, a certified public accountant, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pa.
