HYDERABAD, India, 2017-Nov-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), a global leader in omni-channel solutions, expanded its worldwide presence today (November 07, 2017) with a state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) centre at Mindspace IT Park in HITEC City, Hyderabad. Spread across 140,000 square feet, the facility is now NCR’s largest R&D centre outside of the U.S.A. This modern R&D centre will help extend NCR’s leadership in omni-channel solutions and to create innovative products and platforms for channel transformation and digital enablement. The state-of-the-art R&D facility to house over 1200 employees was inaugurated by the NCR global leadership team including Paul Langenbahn and Eli Rosner together with the India leadership team led by Ashok Nallam, Director R&D Centre, NCR India.

NCR’s new state-of-the-art R&D facility is designed to enhance collaboration and innovation. It features technology and tools to support the changing nature of how, when and where work is done; and it will excite and inspire employees and customers. The centre will feature collaborative workspaces, state-of-the-art labs—including an innovation lab—and amenities such as a gym, recreation facilities, a café, and informal work spaces to spark creativity.

The centre has been responsible for a host of innovations including the Interactive Teller ATM, EMV contactless ATM, mobile payments solutions, retail self-checkout lanes, CRM platforms, cinema and stadium systems management solutions, among many others.

Launched in 2004 with 50 engineers, NCR’s current Hyderabad R&D center houses close to 1,200 professionals focused on software development for the financial, retail, travel and hospitality industries. NCR Corporation sponsored one of North America’s largest hackathons, HackGT

Atlanta, 2017-Oct-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), a global leader in omni-channel solutions, sponsored one of North America’s largest hackathons, HackGT, from October 13-15 hosted at Georgia Tech. More than 1,000 student developers from around the country—selected from a record-setting group of more than 3,000 applicants—tested their creativity by developing cross-industry solutions and applications to create better consumer experiences.

Twenty hackathon teams became the first third-party users of NCR’s open API on the Omni-Channel Decision Support Platform (ODSP), which will be made available to selected NCR partners and third-party developers via a ‘Developer Portal’ next year.

Held in Atlanta—the “Silicon Valley of the East”—HackGT challenges young developers to create new industry solutions such as ordering and delivering, smart promotions and offers, and advanced analytical models based on hypothetical transactional data.

This was the first-year NCR sponsored this event, in which 20 teams of up to four students explored potential solutions using the ODSP and hypothetical data sets created by NCR for the students to use as catalog and transactional data.

The winning team developed a mobile commerce application that uses NCR’s Ordering API, Catalog API and analytics to make mobile ordering easier for consumers. Members of the winning team that developed the app will each receive an iPhone X and be offered a summer internship with NCR’s software division.

It will also provide rich data and analytics capabilities to provide a holistic view of consumer interactions and help drive smarter, faster business decisions.
