Vancouver International Airport partners with Paradies Lagardère to bring four new stores to YVR

Richmond, B.C., 2017-Feb-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — Today (February 16, 2017), Vancouver International Airport (YVR) celebrated the grand opening of four retail stores in the domestic post-security terminal: Lolë, Brooks Brothers, Coastal News and Sea to Sky Marketplace.

“YVR is always looking to provide exceptional customer experiences and a big part of that is offering an engaging and diverse retail options,” said Scott Norris, Vice President, Commercial Development, Vancouver Airport Authority. “We know that for many passengers their trip starts right here at YVR and we hope these new offerings will give them a reason to arrive earlier and get their shopping done prior to flying out.”

These four new retail stores provide more apparel options, as well as familiar iconic brands to YVR’s domestic travellers. The entire portfolio will further enhance YVR’s award-winning concession program. YVR has more than 170 shops, services and restaurants located before and after security, providing great shopping opportunities to travellers and the local community alike.

YVR partnered with Paradies Lagardère, a leading operator of restaurant and retail brands in airports world-wide, to bring these four concepts to YVR. Paradies Lagardère operates more than 850 stores and restaurants in 98 airports, with expertise in international, national and local brands that create memorable and positive shopping and dining experiences for today’s travellers. They currently operate 24 stores at YVR, ranging from newsstands to apparel, gifts, confectionary and souvenirs.

Lagardère Travel Retail closes the acquisition of Paradies after receiving all the required authorizations

ATLANTA, GA and TORONTO, ON, 2015-10-26 — /EPR Retail News/ — Lagardère Travel Retail closed the acquisition of Paradies, a leader in retail, and food and beverage operations at airports in the United States and Canada, after receiving all the required authorizations. Announced on August 11, this acquisition will combine the activities of Paradies and Lagardère Travel Retail in North America, creating the region’s second-largest operator (no. 2 in North America), with total revenue of around $800 million (€720 million) in 2015.

Thanks to the complementary nature of the two companies’ operating locations and concepts, this transaction will generate commercial and financial synergies in the North American market, which offers attractive growth prospects.

The integration of the two companies will be led by Paradies President and CEO Gregg Paradies, who will remain at the helm of the combined entity. Gerry Savaria, LS travel retail North America’s President and CEO, will become the Executive Vice President.

This value-enhancing transaction represents an important step in the strategic transformation of Lagardère Travel Retail, which will also achieve critical mass in North America, with a presence in more than 100 airports.

Paradies is known for the quality of its operations and teams, and has an attractive growth profile, thanks to its portfolio of strong, widely known brands. In its 2014/2015 financial year[1], Paradies generated consolidated net sales of $515 million (€471 million).

This significant acquisition represents a major step forward in Lagardère Travel Retail’s growth strategy.

New joint venture to operate 20,000 square feet of prime specialty retail space at NYC’s busiest terminal

QUEENS, NEW YORK, 2015-4-23 — /EPR Retail News/ — With ambitions toward enhancing the shopping experience for the more than 18 million annual travelers passing through John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 4, LS travel retail North America, a Lagardère Services company, has acquired assets of Saveria USA, Inc. allowing for the operation of 20,000 square feet of prime specialty retail space within the terminal’s retail lounge.

The predominant specialty retail operator at Terminal 4 since 2002, Saveria USA, Inc. was founded by the Sardana family, who will partner with LS in a new JFK Terminal 4 venture moving forward.
