LCP: Upholsterer and furniture repair specialist opens his first standalone premises at The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford

London, 2017-Aug-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — An upholsterer and furniture repair specialist with more than 20 years’ experience has opened his own business in the Black Country.

Gary Burns, who has worked for nationally known companies before setting up Classic Furniture Care 12 months ago, has agreed terms with leading investment and property management company LCP for his first standalone premises at The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford.

He has taken Building 53A, Bay 6, a 426 sq ft unit at LCP’s flagship industrial estate after moving his fledgling business, which undertakes reupholstery, upholstery repairs and leather repairs, out of his mother’s garage.

“It was always my intention to have my own business premises and I wanted to make sure I had established myself as a sole trader before doing that,” said Gary, who lives nearby.

“I’ve been to The Pensnett Estate a number of times over the past 20 years for my work and was really pleased to find that it offered small units on flexible terms, which is ideal for start up businesses, so I was keen to take one on when I discovered the terms it could offer.”

LCP: gutter replacement specialist Thaxen Developments opens third unit at The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford

West Midlands, UK, 2017-Jul-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — A rapidly growing gutter replacement specialist has taken on new premises in the Black Country to cope with demand, leading investment and property management company LCP has announced.

Thaxen Developments, which specialises in replacing concrete guttering with uPVC, has opened another unit at Block C, Bay 1, The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford. It already operates from two units on LCP’s flagship business estate.

Lucy Hurst, managing director of the company, said: “The company is growing very quickly and in just two years we have gone from three members of staff to more than 30 and at the end of our second year, recorded a turnover of £3 million.

“We are specialists in a niche market, focusing on post-war housing that has concrete-made gutters, and have become market leaders in this sector and work across the country.

“We’ve moved from having just a small office on The Pensnett Estate to now having three units. We were keen to stay on the estate because it is centrally located and is convenient for our staff, so were very pleased when LCP found this additional unit for us because it means we can continue to expand.

“The additional space at The Pensnett Estate will allow us to develop our business further and we’re very excited to start working on this,” added Lucy.

LCP: commercial tarpaulins and marquees manufacturer Net and Cover Services moves to The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford

London, 2017-Jun-12 — /EPR Retail News/ — A manufacturer of commercial tarpaulins and marquees has moved to new premises in the Black Country, commercial property investment and management company LCP has announced.

Net and Cover Services is moving to Building 53C, Bay 7, The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford, after agreeing a three-year lease with LCP, which owns and manages the site.

Gary Waterhouse, who launched the company 10 years ago, is moving from the Bridge Trading Estate, Stourbridge, to take the 746 sq ft unit and now hopes the larger, more modern premises with separate office will enable him to grow his business.

“I needed to move to a ground-floor unit because it’s hard work carrying up stairs rolls of tarpaulin that weigh more than nine stone,” he said. “The new unit is ideal because it is modern and light, has a separate office and is also about 50 sq ft bigger.

“I put a sign outside saying that I’ll be opening on April 17 and had two calls from potential customers within a couple of hours, which is great. I’m looking forward to relocating the business.”

Net and Cover Services manufactures a wide range of tarpaulin products, from banners and boat covers to market stall covers and lorry sheets and side curtains, and has customers across the UK.

LCP lands three-year lease with Babbaloos Bakery at The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford

LONDON, 2017-Mar-13 — /EPR Retail News/ — A specialty cake-making company from Wolverhampton is hoping for a rise in business after taking on its first commercial unit to cope with a demand for its tasty bakes.

Babbaloos Bakery, launched by friends Shelley Birch and Deborah Cox in 2015, is moving from Deborah’s home kitchen in Lanesfield, Wolverhampton, to a small unit at The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford, after agreeing a three-year lease with LCP, which owns and manages the industrial estate.

Shelley, aged 32, who began baking with 34-year-old Deborah when they were both children, said they were thrilled to realise their dream of opening a cake business – three years after they started out making bespoke cake-toppers.

“We are bakers and best friends so to be doing it for a living is a dream come true,” said Shelley.

“It’s happened quicker than we’d imagined. We made just cake toppers but customers wanted the whole package and once we started to make bespoke novelty cakes, demand grew.

“It was in our five-year business plan to grow into a commercial premises but after just a year of trading, it was obvious that we would have to move now to continue to cope with demand. We’re excited to have our own unit and aim to grow the business over the next year or so.”

London & Cambridge Properties given outline planning permission for a residential development on the former Ibstock Brick site in Kingswinford

London, 2017-Jan-18 — /EPR Retail News/ — About 200 homes could be built on the former Ibstock Brick site in Kingswinford after leading property company London & Cambridge Properties (LCP) was given outline planning permission for a residential development.

Residential developers are being consulted about transforming the land off Tansey Green Road, bordering the Pensnett Estate which is owned and managed by LCP

The property company and Ibstock Brick Ltd applied jointly to planners at Dudley Council for permission to pursue the homes scheme on the 19-acre site.

London & Cambridge Properties granted permission to extend its headquarters on The Pensnett Estate in Kingswinford

London, 2016-Aug-10 — /EPR Retail News/ — The first stage of a major new speculative development in the Black Country is poised to begin later this year after London & Cambridge Properties (LCP) was granted planning permission.

Dudley MBC planners have given the leading West Midlands-based property and development company the go ahead for the first phase of a 260,000 sq ft extension at its flagship business estate in Kingswinford.

Andrew Preston, industrial portfolio manager at LCP, said work on developing four industrial and warehouse units totalling 130,000 sq ft on land to the rear of its headquarters on The Pensnett Estate is now likely to begin in Q4 of 2016. Completion is anticipated in late 2017.

“We’re very pleased to have been given the go ahead for our new industrial development,” he said. “Void levels are low on the estate and enquiries from companies looking to move here is high, which demonstrates a clear demand.

“It’s a major investment for LCP that will reap huge benefits for the local economy and will also bring hundreds of jobs to the area when both phases are completed and up and running.”

The Pensnett Estate is one of the largest secure business estates in Europe, and home to 170 businesses in over 2.4 million sq.ft of commercial property. Two years ago, LCP invested £1.5 million on Progress Point, a speculative development on the estate comprising 21,000 sq ft of high quality warehouse and industrial space.

The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership (BCLEP) has been supporting LCP with this latest development, having received Site Investigation Funding. Both parties are working together to obtain next stage gap funding to bring the site to market.
