Lindex unveils Art Meets Fashion collection in collaboration with eight young artists

Lindex unveils Art Meets Fashion collection in collaboration with eight young artists

Sweden, 2018-Feb-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — In a unique collaboration with eight young artists, Lindex presents “Art Meets Fashion” — an inspirational and expressive fashion collection that merges two different art forms.

The collection is based on contemporary art created by eight young artists on behalf of Lindex. Using their individual tools and methods of expression, each artist created one original artwork on the theme of celebrating women. Inspired by this unique artwork, the Lindex design team interpreted the pieces and used them as an interesting starting point from which to launch their design process.

These artists have a strong creative force and a fantastic ability to portray and pay tribute to women through the medium of contemporary fashion. They have provided interesting perspectives and woven in references to our chosen theme, which they have portrayed in different ways. A common aspect of all eight art works is that they are visually strong, expressive and contain a myriad of colour, just like our fashion collection, says Pia Ekholm, Design & Buying Manager for Womens’ wear at Lindex.

Women are important to Lindex, which is why the fashion retailer is dedicated to empowering and inspiring women in different ways and wants women to be able to take their place in their world while expressing themselves. Through “Art meets Fashion”, Lindex wants to create wearable garments for women who wish to affirm themselves and their personality through expressive fashion.

The art purchased by Lindex will be sold at an exclusive vernissage. The money will be donated to HERproject, a collaborative initiative that strives to empower women who earn a low income salary working in global supply chains.

The unique collection “Art Meets Fashion” will be available in selected stores and at lindex.com as of 8 March 2018.

Lindex offers customers smarter and more convenient shopping experience with new mobile app

Lindex offers customers smarter and more convenient shopping experience with new mobile app

Sweden, 2017-Aug-31 — /EPR Retail News/ — Lindex releases a mobile app to offer their customers a smarter and more convenient shopping experience. With key features such as Instagram integration, inspiration feed, order management and access to current offers, the goal is an inspiring and personalized shopping service. The initiative is part of the fashion company’s commitment to making it easy for customers to be inspired and to shop wherever they are.

A central part for the development process has been to understand and customize the app according to customer needs. The app offers an omnichannel experience with features that are linked both to Lindex’s digital and physical stores. For example, the customer in store can scan products for more product information or information about availability in stores. The service also offers the customer the opportunity to prepare their shopping in the app but to complete their purchase in store or at lindex.com.

The number of customers shopping via mobile has grown rapidly in recent years, and the app will be central in offering an inspiring and user-friendly shopping experience for our customers. During development, we have received very positive feedback from pilot users and we have high expectations of how the app will be received by our customers,  says Linda Johansson, Project Manager at Lindex.

The app is adapted to Lindex’s active customers, i.e. customers who have been shopping online during the last year or who are members of the Lindex loyalty club ‘More at Lindex’, which has a total of four million members, of which about two million in Sweden.

The application is developed with the Xamarin framework to create an unified platform experience regardless of operating system. The app is optimized for smartphones and is available for both iPhone and Android. It can be downloaded in Norway and Sweden on App Store and Google Play.

During the development process, Lindex has collaborated with DigitasLBi and Bitzeal.

Lindex to raise funds for WaterAid

Lindex to raise funds for WaterAid

Sweden, 2017-Aug-28 — /EPR Retail News/ —  Starting August 24, customers who shop in Lindex stores will be offered to round up their purchase in favour of WaterAid. The collected money will go to WaterAid’s important work to improve access to clean water and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities.

The water issue is of great importance to Lindex and a part of our long-term sustainability work. We are doing this fundraising together with our customers to support WaterAid in their very important work, says Sara Winroth, Sustainability Manager at Lindex.

Access to clean water and sanitation is a human right. Despite that, more than 650 million people lack access to clean water and almost 2.4 billion lack access to proper sanitation. Approximately 290 000 children die each year from diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation. That means almost 800 children each day.

Each year WaterAid’s work changes lives for millions of people through improved access to clean water and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities. More children can survive their childhood, the risk for malnutrition decreases and families can stay healthy. Hours spent collecting water can instead be spent working and going to school. Access to clean water and sanitation can help communities and countries break the circle of poverty.

We are very happy and grateful for the strong commitment Lindex shows by supporting WaterAids work. It is fantastic that Lindex customers now in an easy way can take part and contribute to more people getting access to clean water. Every single amount donated will save and change lives for the world’s poorest people who today have to live without what we take for granted – clean water, says Cecilia Chatterjee-Martinsen, Secretary General for WaterAid Sweden.

The campaign starts on August 24 and will continue until August 30.

WaterAid is an international organisation working for a world where everybody has access to clean water and sanitation. WaterAid works with local partners for sustainable and long-term solutions, and influences decision makers to increase efforts for these basic needs on national and global levels. WaterAid works in 37 countries and since 1981, WaterAid has reached 25 million people with clean water and 24 million people with sanitation. Visit www.wateraid.org/ukfor more information.

The project is part of Lindex ambition to improve the lives of women in the fashion company’s global supply chain.

With ‘WE Women by Lindex’, Lindex will work to integrate gender equality into supplier management systems. ‘WE Women by Lindex’ is a three-year project developed through a partnership between Lindex and GIZ, and in cooperation with BSR and local non-governmental organisations. The project will start with 33 of Lindex suppliers in Bangladesh. The project also includes 10 non-Lindex suppliers in order to promote the concept to the industry in Bangladesh. Sweden, 2017-Jun-01 — /EPR Retail News/ — Lindex is one of the first companies to sign-up to a sustainable cotton initiative led by The Prince of Wales’s International Sustainability Unit. The initiative is in line with Lindex goal that 100 per cent of the fashion company’s cotton will come from more sustainable sources by 2020, where Lindex has reached 91 per cent so far.

Through the initiative, 13 major companies come together and commit to ensuring that 100 per cent of the cotton they use comes from more sustainable sources by 2025. H&M, KappAhl and Lindex launch initiative to help reduce consumption of plastic bags

Gothenburg, Sweden, 2017-May-05 — /EPR Retail News/ — On June 1 One Bag Habit is launched jointly by H&M, KappAhl and Lindex. The initiative wants to contribute to reduced consumption of bags and an increased awareness about plastic bags’ negative environmental impact. The three fashion chains will therefore start to charge for their plastic bags and will donate the surplus from this sales to different causes that support sustainable development.

One Bag Habit is a joint initiative from H&M, KappAhl and Lindex where the members will charge for all plastic bags in store from June 1. All surplus from the sales of the bags will go to causes that drive sustainable development within social or environmentally related projects and each company chooses where the surplus will be donated. The initiative is a response to a coming EU directive to reduce the consumption of plastic bags.

Our ambition with the One Bag Habit initiative is to facilitate and speed up the transition to a more sustainable consumption of shopping bags. We want to raise awareness about the bags’ negative environmental impact and we invite all retailers to join the initiative, says the three fashion chains in a joint statement.

About One Bag Habit: H&M, KappAhl and Lindex are initiators, and more retail companies are expected to join onwards. When participating in One Bag Habit, the members undertake to charge for all consumer bags as well as communicate about bags’ negative environmental impact and how consumer bags can be used in a more sustainable way. The companies also commit to offering recyclable consumer bags made from more sustainable materials. The surplus of the sales of the bags will go to different causes that drive sustainable development. Each member chooses to what cause and reports about the result yearly, on their home page and/or in their annual report. Initially the One Bag Habit will be launched in Sweden. The fashion chains’ joint ambition is to expand the initiative to their other markets.

About bags: Humanity has an important sustainability challenge in reducing the consumption of all kind of bags. Both plastic and paper bags have a negative impact on the climate. Even when the bags are made of renewable materials they are still very energy consumption in producing transporting and recycle. It takes 400 years for nature to break down a plastic bag. In the meantime it is distributed into small pieces and becomes a harmful ingredient in the food chain for both animals and humans. And bags made from cotton are also resource intensive, especially in the cultivation phase. It needs to be used 130-400 times to get down to the same level of environmental impact that is caused by a plastic bag. Simply, less bags need to be taken into use and the used ones needs to be used several times. The best option is to bring a bag from home instead of buying a new one when shopping. And make it into a more sustainable shopping routine that saves both the resources of the earth and our own economy. That’s what the One Bag Habit should contribute with.
