Ben & Jerry’s introduces new line of light ice cream without artificial sugar substitutes and with less fat and calories

New Moo-phoria offers fully satisfying flavors, with a fraction of fat and calories

Burlington, VT, 2018-Feb-19 — /EPR Retail News/ — For ice cream lovers who only indulge on special occasions or limit themselves to a weekly treat, Ben & Jerry’s has created Moo-phoria™, a new line of light ice cream with satisfyingly euphoric flavors. Suddenly, Wednesday is the new weekend!

Moo-phoria pints are full of all the wonderful chunks and swirls that fans adore, along with rich and creamy vanilla, chocolate, caramel and peanut butter flavors. What’s missing? Sixty to seventy percent fat and at least 35% of the calories found in traditional ice cream. Each ½ cup serving of Moo-phoria has 140-160 calories. And like all Ben & Jerry’s flavors, Moo-phoria doesn’t have artificial sugar substitutes or sugar alcohols.

“Ben & Jerry’s tries to offer a little bit of something for everyone,” said Dena Wimette, Senior Innovation Manager. “We’re excited to have an incredible new option for our fans who say they can’t be trusted with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s in their freezers.”

Moo-phoria pints are available in three hard-to-resist flavors:

  • Chocolate Milk & Cookies—Chocolate and vanilla light ice cream swirled with chocolate chip cookies. 140 calories per ½ cup serving.
  • Caramel Cookie Fix—Vanilla light ice cream with shortbread cookies and salted caramel swirl. 150 calories per ½ cup serving.
  • PB Dough—Chocolate light ice cream with gobs of chocolate chip peanut butter cookie dough. 160 calories per ½ cup serving.

In addition to the famous chunks and swirls, Ben & Jerry’s sources organic milk and cream for the base mix of each Moo-phoria flavor.

Moo-phoria is coming soon to grocery stores nationwide for a suggested MSRP of $4.89. Fans can use the Ben & Jerry’s flavor locator to find a store or Scoop Shop near them. Moo-phoria will also be available at Ben & Jerry’s online store at

7‑Eleven® expands its 7-Select GO!Smart private brand line with four 100% Fruit and Vegetable Juice Blends

7‑Eleven® expands its 7-Select GO!Smart private brand line with four 100% Fruit and Vegetable Juice Blends

IRVING, TEXAS, 2018-Jan-09 — /EPR Retail News/ — 7‑Eleven® stores are carrying a new line of proprietary juices that rival those prepared fresh in free-standing, high-end juice bars. The new organic, cold-pressed juices are part of the retailer’s 7-Select GO!Smart private brand line of premium better-for-you snacks and beverages.

The 7-Select GO!Smart juices come in four varieties:

  • Clean & Green – Kale, cucumber, apple, spinach, mint, celery, lime, parsley
  • Tropical Glow – Pineapple, orange, banana, apple, mango, passionfruit, coconut water
  • Berry & Bright™ – Tart cherry, carrot, blackberry, pomegranate, bilberry, cranberry, acai
  • Restoration Red™ – Tomato, tart cherry, beet, strawberry, apple, lime

Each variety is USDA-certified organic, made from whole fruits and vegetables. A special promotional retail price for the launch is two for $4 at participating stores for a limited time. The everyday suggested retail price is $2.99 for a 14-ounce bottle, less than the cost of premium national brand juices. The juices will be sold chilled in the refrigerated section.

“When you compare this new line of 7-Select GO! Smart cold-pressed juices head-to-head with nationally recognized premium juice brands, well, there is no comparison,” said Tim Cogil, 7‑Eleven director of new product development. “Ours are organic and cold-pressed, without additives and not from concentrate. Typically, this level of quality is only found at juice and smoothie restaurants.”

While some independent juice bars and premium juice companies can boast their juices are organic or cold-pressed, most can’t make both claims. 7‑Eleven can make them … and several more. The new line of premium 7-Select GO!Smart juices are:

  • USDA-certified organic
  • Cold-pressed certified fair trade
  • Non-GMO Project verified
  • 100 percent fruit juice blend or vegetable and fruit juice blend
  • Gluten-free
  • Vegan
  • No additives
  • Not from concentrate
  • Fewer calories
  • No added sugar
  • Glass bottle, not plastic
  • Shelf-stable

In addition to complete nutritional information, the back of the bottle includes a fruit-to-vegetable taste meter for each flavor and even how much of each individual ingredient it takes to make one 14-ounce bottle. For instance, one bottle of Clean & Green contains 25 kale leaves, one parsley bunch, 12 celery stalks, three cucumbers, two green apples, 13 mint leaves, 15 spinach leaves and one lime.

Cold-pressed juices are made using a hydraulic press to extract juice from fruits and vegetables.

While overall juice sales increased more than 4 percent over last year, sales of super premium juices rose at double the rate as people look for healthier and more nutritionally dense beverages. For many, particularly millennial females, premium juices offer an easy way to boost consumption of fruits and vegetables.

7‑Eleven also offers a line of organic juices (orange, apple, cranberry blend, lemonade and more) sold under the 7-Select brand.

To satisfy consumer requests for variety in both indulgent and better-for-you products, 7‑Eleven added the 7-Select GO!Smart and 7-Select GO!Yum™ premium lines to its 7-Select® assortment in 2015.

7-Select GO!Smart items are designed with nutritional balance as a priority for those looking for better-tasting, better-for-you options while on the go. Many are gluten-free, GMO-free and use organic sweeteners like agave and brown rice syrups, which have a lower glycemic index. All have nutritional information prominently posted on packaging to help consumers make the best choice for themselves.

7-Select GO!Yum products include an indulgent assortment of savory and sweet snacks with a level of quality more likely found at a specialty store than in a convenience store. Each product is made with premium ingredients, curated for imaginative taste combinations and an out-of-the-ordinary sensory experience.

“Whenever the private brand team creates a new item, our goal is to use only the highest quality ingredients and unique flavor combinations you can’t find anywhere else,” Cogil said. “We want customers to love it so much that they come back to 7‑Eleven because they can’t find anything like it anywhere else. Our private brands set us apart from the competition.”

Today, the 7-Select private brand product lineup includes hundreds of items across all categories.

SPAR Austria introducES new organic SPAR enjoy ice tea range

Austria, 2017-Dec-01 — /EPR Retail News/ — After the successful launch of the SPAR enjoy super fruit juice range earlier this year, SPAR Austria has tapped into another beverage trend with the introduction of its new organic SPAR enjoy ice tea range, which comes in various delicious flavour combinations: Turmeric & Ginger, Rooibos & Herbs and Barley & Spearmint. The range is now available in all SPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR stores across the country.

The ice tea is produced in a small tea factory in Upper Austria, where great attention is given to the quality of ingredients. The 100% carefully selected and harvested organic and Fairtrade herbs and spices include South African rooibos tea, regionally produced herbs, Austrian-grown barley and exotic mint. The unique combination of flavours give SPAR enjoy organic ice tea an incomparably refreshing and delicious taste.

The ice tea range contains only 5.5 grams of organic cane sugar per 100ml. This once again underlines SPAR’s efforts to reduce sugar in its own brand products. Less sugar not only means fewer calories, it also means that one gets a better appreciation of the natural ingredients used.

SPAR Austria’s new ice tea range doesn’t just impress through its unique taste, but also through its environmentally friendly packaging – coming in 330ml glass bottles, which are re-sealable and re-usable.

About SPAR Austria

The origins of SPAR in Austria date back to 1954 when the first SPAR organisation was established, after being granted the licence to operate the SPAR Brand by SPAR International. The current SPAR AG was created in 1970 when the original founding families joined with other regional wholesalers to form SPAR Austria AG – a 100% privately owned Austrian company.

SPAR Slovenia expands range of organic and vegan products

SPAR Slovenia introduces new vegan product line Nussyy

SLOVENIA, 2017-Apr-03 — /EPR Retail News/ — Consumers expect to find an increasing range of organic and vegan products on the shelves of their local supermarket instead of having to go to a specialist store. SPAR Slovenia meets this expectation, regularly introducing new products and ranges, with the latest being two new vegan product lines ‘Veganz’ and ‘Nussyy’.

As well as launching these products with a great campaign, they also highlighted their organic food range under the theme ‘IZBERI BIO’. The aim of the campaign was to position SPAR as an organic food and vegan-friendly retailer and showcase vegan products to shoppers who in principle do not avoid animal products, but seek to vary their menu.

The campaign was large in scale with a series of television and online advertisements, outdoor billboards, diverse print ads, online and mobile advertising and social media promotion, all complemented by POS advertising.

The outdoor and TV ads firstly built the brand image, which was then followed by product advertising. The promotion leaflet featured Veganz, Nussyy and BIO products in specific sections. Online advertising included: advertorials; backgrounds takeovers of the most popular internet portals; and banners. A social media and culinary website on which SPAR Slovenia created a vegan section was also featured.

On social media, the visibility of vegan products and the connection with SPAR was increased – using at least one Veganz or Nussyy product in all published recipes during the period of the campaign.

In addition to conventional digital advertising, SPAR Slovenia sought an alternative and effective way to bring Veganz and Nussyy products closer to customers. This was achieved with the help of popular and trusted influencers. This group were also the content creators – providing recipes, tests, videos and photos that were shared on their social media channels and blogs.

Vegans are very active in finding new products and stores where they can buy from. To create awareness among this target audience, SPAR Slovenia partnered with active users in the biggest vegan groups on social media. Social networks were flooded by positive comments and photos of Veganz and Nussyy products.

The campaign was successful in terms of engagement and positioned SPAR as an organic food and vegan-friendly retailer among a wider targeted audience.

Whole Foods Market: value is about more than just price

Austin, TX, 2016-Apr-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — We take issue with any price comparison story that compares unlike items— it like comparing apples and oranges! The bottom line here is that we simply want a fair, balanced article with accurate pricing and accurate product comparisons that don’t confuse readers. Stories that compare the price of organic items from Whole Foods Market to non-organic items from other retailers isn’t a true comparison. There are other important product attributes left out when our products are being compared just on price, like our Non-GMO Project Verified products. Or the fact that all products sold at Whole Foods Market are formulated without artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, and all the meat we sell is raised without antibiotics or added hormones. At Whole Foods Market, we believe that value is about more than just price – our industry-leading quality standards and the ingredients you won’t find in the products need to be part of the conversation for a true comparison.
