ALTOONA, Pa., 2017-Jan-18 — /EPR Retail News/ — Sheetz for the Kidz is proud to announce that it raised more than $580,000 during its annual December campaign through customer donations.  This is a record for the Sheetz employee-run charity that exceeds last year’s campaign fundraising total by more than $60,000. Sheetz for the Kidz is a 501 (c)(3) employee-operated charitable organization that raises funds through a variety of fundraising efforts, including in-store customer donations during the months of July and December. One hundred percent of customer donations go directly to supporting children in need of the local Sheetz communities.

Throughout the 2016 holiday season, each of Sheetz’s 541 stores supported 16 children from their local communities by collaborating with The Salvation Army to receive wish lists from local families. Approximately 8,800 children from across the six-state Sheetz operating area of PA, MD, OH, WV, VA and NC benefited from the program this holiday season.  Sheetz employees volunteered their time to shop, wrap, and host holiday parties for the children and their families. At the holiday parties, Santa greeted the children and presented them with new toys, clothes, and other basic necessities purchased specifically for them.

“We are overwhelmed by the incredible kindness demonstrated by our customers and we thank them for their loyal support of Sheetz for the Kidz this past holiday season and always,” said Ryan Sheetz, AVP of Brand Development. “Our generous customers and employees helped make the season special for so many local children, and we were honored to be able to spread holiday cheer to these local families.”

“This fundraising initiative allows us to give back to the communities that support Sheetz and we look forward to its continued growth in 2017,” said Sarah Piper, Executive Director of Sheetz for the Kidz.  “We are also thankful for the efforts of Sheetz employees, who volunteer their own time each year to help families in their own hometowns have a brighter holiday season.”

There are many ways customers can support Sheetz for the Kidz throughout the year:

  • Purchase Sheetz for the Kidz water – 25 cents of every bottle sold goes to support the charity.
  • Shop on AmazonSmile and select “Sheetz for the Kidz” as the charity of your choice.  Amazon will donate a portion of your purchases to Sheetz for the Kidz.
  • Go to www.sheetzforthekidz.org to donate online today.
  • In the months of July and December, Sheetz offers customers an opportunity to donate at the register.

Since its beginning in 1992, Sheetz for the Kidz has brought smiles to the faces of more than 100,000 children in the communities surrounding Sheetz stores in PA, MD, OH, WV, VA and NC through donations totaling more than $22.9 million.

Sheetz launches new Cold Brew coffee offerings on National Coffee Day, September 29, 2016

ALTOONA, Pa., 2016-Sep-28 — /EPR Retail News/ — Sheetz, one of America’s fastest-growing family-owned and operated convenience retailers, is proud to announce the launch of its Cold Brew coffee offerings, available in all stores on National Coffee Day, September 29, 2016. The launch marks a major advancement in the convenience store industry’s coffee portfolio, allowing Sheetz Freakz to enjoy the elevated quality of Cold Brew at any Sheetz store.

“Cold Brew is, without a doubt, the best way to make cold coffee, because the flavors have a chance to infuse rather than burn,” says Matt Gray, Coffee Concepts Manager for Sheetz. “Sheetz’s method takes no shortcuts, nor attempts to cheapen the product in any way, and the result is a delicious flavor profile accessible to all coffee drinkers and rivaling any Cold Brew experience out there.”

Sheetz’s Cold Brew starts with fresh coffee ground in-house and later infused in cold water for 10 hours to ensure the balanced blend of sweet and bitter. The patient process results in a naturally smooth and sweet flavor with less acidity.

“This product is the real deal and sure to disrupt the convenience category’s coffee offerings as we know it, just like Sheetz,” says Ryan Sheetz, Director of Brand Strategy for Sheetz. “With millennials drinking more specialty coffee than any other generation out there, we hope to fill more of their cups and also introduce other coffee drinkers to Cold Brew.”

In true Sheetz fashion, the culinary team’s made-to-order approach (MTO) is extended to Cold Brew, with every cup tailored and hand-poured directly for the customer. Cold Brew pairs perfectly with Sheetz’s hot breakfast items, offering a refreshing temperature balance and eliminating the need to wait for coffee to cool before indulging.

In celebration of National Coffee Day on September 29, 2016, Sheetz will offer one free small Cold Brew while supplies last to all customers who show their My Sheetz Card, a loyalty card that offers in-store specials, exclusive perks and 3¢ off every gallon of gasoline.

To learn more about Sheetz’s new Cold Brew offerings, please visit www.sheetz.com.

Sheetz: Modernized bill PA-HB 1690 will change the way liquor is sold in Pennsylvania

ALTONA, Pa., 2016-Jun-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — Sheetz Convenience Stores are ready to move Pennsylvania stores into the  21st century by giving their customers one more convenience, the convenience of buying beer and wine in Sheetz stores.

The modernized bill, PA-HB 1690 will change the way liquor is sold inPennsylvania today. It will improve convenience for customers and is good for the state by potentially generating $150 million in new revenue forPennsylvania.

“This bill is the most significant change to Pennsylvania in 80 years. We continue to show our support and gratitude to Governor Wolf, the Senate and House leaders for advancing the issue and driving the change in beer reform in Pennsylvania.” said Ryan Sheetz, AVP of Brand Strategy. “We are thrilled to be able to give our Pennsylvania customers the common right they deserve.”

Sheetz has long been a driving voice of change regarding beer reform and has been committed to this movement by not only advancing the issue but also by responsibly selling beer in a handful of stores today by complying with  all laws and regulations as they are set forth today. Sheetz stores enforce a 100% proof-of-age policy and employees will ask for proper identification from any customer wanting to purchase alcohol. Currently, Sheetz sells beer in more than 200 stores across the five other states in the company’s footprint, including the successful sale of beer at four other locations in PA.

“We are excited to finally be able to give our customers what they have long been asking us to do. Provide them with the convenience of a one –stop-shop, “said Sheetz. ” This law was archaic and nonsensical. The goal for our entire operation is to give our customers what they want, how they want, when they want it, 24/7.
