The retailer will celebrate with two grand opening celebrations

Milpitas, CA – June 16-18: The Great Mall of the Bay Area, 1200 Great Mall Drive, Milpitas, CA 95035

Oak Ridge, TN – June 30 – July 2: Main Street, 369 S. Illinois Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830

CBL & Associates Properties closes sale of College Square in Morristown and Foothills Mall in Maryville, Tennessee

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., 2017-May-12 — /EPR Retail News/ — CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. (NYSE: CBL) today (5/11/2017) announced that it closed on the sale of College Square in Morristown, TN and Foothills Mall in Maryville, TN for $53.5 million, all cash. Proceeds from the sale were used to reduce outstanding balances on the Company’s lines of credit.

REI to open new store in Chattanooga, Tennessee

New co-op store at Waterside development to open fall 2018

SEATTLE, 2017-Apr-03 — /EPR Retail News/ —  In the fall of 2018, outdoor co-op REI will open a new store in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The new co-op location will offer a wide assortment of quality gear and local REI experts to help members and customers get outside. With iconic places such as the Chattahoochee National Forest, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cumberland Plateau and the Appalachians all within approximately 100 miles, REI will partner with local nonprofit, business and community leaders to support the growing outdoor community in and around Chattanooga.

“Chattanooga and the surrounding region is a special place for people who love the outdoors. REI has been in Tennessee for nearly two decades, and during that time our local teams in Brentwood (Nashville) and Knoxville have helped our members get outside and enjoy this amazing state. We’ve watched as Chattanooga has become a hub for outdoor recreation because of its central location to so many trails, parks, forests and waterways. We can’t wait to join the community, hire a team of local outdoor experts and support local nonprofits who create access to and steward the outdoors,” said Gail Kirkland, REI’s retail director for the South district.

REI Chattanooga will be located at the intersection of I-75 and Shallowford Road in the Waterside development. The single-story, 25,000 square foot store will carry the top gear and apparel for the most popular outdoor activities in the area, including hiking, trail running, rock climbing and cycling. REI Chattanooga will be the co-op’s third store in Tennessee, with existing locations in Brentwood and Knoxville.

REI Outdoor School will offer a robust in-store schedule of educational programs about hiking, climbing, biking, backpacking, paddling and more. In addition the store will host presentations by well-known authors and athletes.

REI opened its first Tennessee location in Brentwood in 1999 and has partnered with several local nonprofits over the past two decades. In 2016, REI invested $65,000 in eight local nonprofits, which was part of the co-op’s $9.3 million investment in nonprofits throughout the country. The co-op invested nearly $30,000 in the Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park to support the Alum Cave Trail and restoration efforts following the wildfires. On National Trails Day in early June, the co-op will partner with Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park to repair park areas devastated last year, and REI members and customers will be invited to lend their sweat equity. REI also supported organizations such as the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association, Friends of South Cumberland and Appalachian Mountain Bike Club. With its new store in Chattanooga, REI will foster new nonprofit partnerships to directly benefit the local outdoor community.

In addition, REI Adventures has guided small group active travel trips in Great Smoky Mountains National Park for more than five years and today operates four itineraries in the iconic park. The travel leader recently introduced a four-day Great Smoky Mountains Women’s Adventure led by a female guide where women hike the historic Appalachian Trail, raft and zip line.

Naloxone now available at Rite Aid Pharmacies in Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia

Camp Hill, Pa., 2017-Feb-17 — /EPR Retail News/ — Rite Aid announced today (Feb. 15, 2017) that naloxone, a medication that can be used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, is now available at more than 630 pharmacies in Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia without a prescription, subject to state regulations. Previously, naloxone, which can be administered by injection or nasal spray, was only available with a physician’s prescription.

“As the epidemic continues to grow, as evidenced in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recent statistic, 91 people die every day from an opioid overdose in the United States,” said Jocelyn Konrad, Rite Aid executive vice president of pharmacy. “With the ability to dispense naloxone without a prescription in more than 20 states, Rite Aid is not only showing its commitment to increasing customer access to this potentially lifesaving medication, but we are also raising awareness and helping fight drug abuse in the communities we serve.”

Naloxone is also available for purchase without patient specific prescriptions at Rite Aid pharmacies in 17 additional states including: Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

To date, Rite Aid has trained more than 10,000 pharmacists on naloxone dispensing. Rite Aid is   also working to expand its naloxone dispensing program in other states served by the Company where naloxone is currently only available with a prescription.

Dunkin’ Donuts to develop four new restaurants in Clarksville, Tennessee

CANTON, MA, 2016-Nov-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — Dunkin’ Donuts, America’s all-day, everyday stop for coffee and baked goods, announced today (Nov. 3, 2016) the signing of a multi-unit store development agreement with franchisees Ray and Zak Omar and Megan Karim to develop four new restaurants in Clarksville, Tennessee over the next several years. The first restaurant is planned to open in Clarksville in 2018 near Fort Campbell, one of the largest Army bases in the United States, which was also Ray’s home base during his tenure as a Special Operations Officer.

After spending seven years in the Army, Ray joined Dunkin’ Donuts in 2008 and currently owns and operates three restaurants in Maryland. In addition to today’s announcement, he has plans to open two more locations in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Under this new agreement, Ray will be accompanied by his brother, Zak, and sister-in-law, Megan, both of whom will lead the day-to-day operations in Clarksville.

Whole Foods Market signs lease for 41,500sq ft store in downtown Nashville, Tennessee

AUSTIN, Texas , 2016-May-06 — /EPR Retail News/ — Whole Foods Market announced today that it has signed a lease for a store in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

The 41,500-square-foot store will be part of a mixed-use development near the intersection of 12th Avenue North and Broadway. It will be Whole Foods Market’s third location in Greater Nashville, and its seventh store in Tennessee.

“Nashville is such a vibrant and exciting city, and we are thrilled to be opening a store downtown,” said Omar Gaye, president of Whole Foods Market’s South Region. “We look forward to bringing fresh, healthy, delicious food to this growing area and its surrounding neighborhoods, as well being a community gathering spot in such a thriving city.”

Construction is expected to begin in late 2016. An opening date has not been set.
