What: The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft will return to Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Mich. for the next two years. The tournaments will be held Father’s Day weekend on June 13-19, 2016 and June 12-18, 2017.

Proceeds from the tournaments and weeklong community events will continue to benefit the Meijer Simply Giveprogram. The inaugural Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft raised more than $600,000 for the Simply Give program to feed those in need throughout the Midwest.

The second annual four-day tournament kicked off today and will run through July 26, featuring a full field of 144 players playing 72 holes of stroke play.

The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft to host some of the biggest names in female golf at the Blythefield Country Club next week for its Final Field

Top names include Inbee Park, Lexi Thompson and Brittany Lincicome

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., 2015-7-17 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft will host some of the biggest names in female golf at the Blythefield Country Club next week. The final field includes several players on the LPGA’s Top 10 money list, including No. 1 in the world Inbee Park and Michigan native Morgan Pressel, as well as Meijer LGPA Classic defending champion Mirim Lee.

Other notable players scheduled to vie for the $2 million purse include Lexi Thompson, Brittany Lincicome, Ai Miyazato and Cristie Kerr.

Two collegiate golfers – Cat Peters, of the University of Michigan, and Kaitlin Park, of Northwestern University – will join the professional golfers on the course. The two earned sponsor exemption spots into the official four-day tournament after an 18-hole qualifying tournament last month.

The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft expands its menu of free interactive and on-site activities to engage young golf fans

Junior golfers invited to participate in free weeklong activities

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., 2015-5-29 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft seeks to engage young golf fans by expanding its menu of free interactive and on-site activities.

“The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft is working diligently to engage families throughout the community,” Meijer President J.K. Symancyk said. “By offering a variety of youth programs, we feel that we are able to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for parents and youth alike.”

The Meijer LPGA Junior Clinic presented by Johnson & Johnson will take place at 1 p.m. July 22-24 at Boulder Creek Golf Course, 5750 Brewer Ave. NE, in Belmont, Mich. Youth, ages 17 years and under, are invited to participate in the free, two-hour clinics that will feature group instruction, activities, and games by LPGA professionals and local golf pros.

That age group will also receive free admission to the tournament, held July 23-26 at Blythefield Country Club with a ticketed adult.

Once at the tournament, youth will have access to the Meijer LPGA Kids Center presented by Dove when it’s open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 22-26. The tent, located between holes 11 and 16, will features arts and crafts, golf activities, and LPGA player autograph sessions throughout the week.

OneRepublic set to take the stage in a week full of events

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., 2015-4-2 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft has partnered with General Mills to provide a community concert featuring OneRepublic on July 25 at Van Andel Arena®, tournament officials announced today.

Fans will recognize OneRepublic’s hit, “Counting Stars,” which is the title track on their most recent album Native. Other notable tracks from Native include “Love Runs Out,” “I Lived,” and “If I Lose Myself.”

“This year’s Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft will once again bring top talent – on the stage and the golf course – to Grand Rapids,” Meijer President J.K. Symancyk said. “We are pleased to partner with General Mills once again this year, and believe the community will embrace the opportunity to hear the musical talents of OneRepublic.”

Concert tickets will go on sale in early May at meijerLPGAclassic.com and will start at $25 each.  Applicable ticket fees will apply.

With Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer as the title sponsor, the driving mission of the tournament is focused on feeding the hungry and improving the quality of life within the region.
