Nordstrom opens its doors to its new CF Sherway Gardens store; its third location in Toronto

RioCan: Shopify expands its lease requirement at King Portland Centre in Toronto; achieving 93% of total leased area of the new office component

Toronto, 2017-Jul-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — Allied Properties REIT (TSX:AP.UN) and RioCan REIT (TSX:REI.UN) today (July 19, 2017) announced another important lease transaction in connection with the development of King Portland Centre in Toronto. Shopify has signed a commitment to expand its lease requirement by approximately 46,234 square feet of GLA, bringing its total requirement in the new office space under construction at King Portland Centre to approximately 158,520 square feet of GLA and the total leased area of the new office component to approximately 93%.

The overall development site for King Portland Centre includes 79,975 square feet of land with frontage on King Street West, Portland Street and Adelaide Street West and is comprised of a restored heritage structure, 602-604 King West (the “Rental Property”), an adjacent property extending from King West through to Adelaide West (the “Development Property”) and a heritage structure under restoration, 642 King West (the “Ancillary Property”). The Rental Property is substantially leased and is expected to remain so through the development process. Items on display include priceless memorabilia from household names whose music once graced its stage: Jeff Healey, Oscar Peterson, Downchild Blues Band, Peter Appleyard and others.

Fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom opens new store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto

Nordstrom expands its in-store boutique SPACE to four additional stores in Los Angeles, Nashville and Toronto

SEATTLE, 2016-Aug-25 — /EPR Retail News/ — Nordstrom is expanding its in-store boutique SPACE to four additional stores in Los Angeles, Nashville and Toronto, thereby doubling the number of locations since its launch one year ago.

Introduced in fall 2015 by Olivia Kim, Vice President of Creative Projects at Nordstrom, SPACE features collections from emerging and advanced designers such as Simone Rocha, Vetements, Comme des Garçons Collection, Koché, Undercover, Ellery, Colovos, Phelan, Molly Goddard and more. The shop lives as a standalone boutique within the store’s designer department, and houses cross-category collections of apparel, shoes, handbags, accessories, home goods and fragrance.

SPACE initially launched exclusively in the retailer’s flagship locations, yet now expands to new markets known as shopping destinations. On August 24th, SPACE will open at The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville, Tenn. followed by The Grove in Los Angeles on August 26th. Kim worked with the Nordstrom design team to create a framework that feels open and airy to allow customers to flow in and out of the boutique, then decorated each with work from artists, furniture makers and artisans so each feels uniquely warm and inviting.

The shops feature pieces like neon pink mirrors from Ettore Sottsass, bright pink woven rubber benches by Kwangho Lee and graphic printed end tables by Michele De Lucchi. SPACE also includes colorful vintage benches by Verner Panton, rainbow resin polychrome shelving from Gaetano Pesce, and other one-of-a-kind pieces from Kim’s favorite artists sourced from Johnson Trading Gallery in New York City.

To celebrate the launch of SPACE in Toronto, Kim and the Creative Projects team created a special capsule collection of exclusive ready-to-wear and accessory items from Canadian designers Brother Vellies, Steven Tai, WWAKE and Vejas. The capsule collection will be available in-store only at SPACE Vancouver and Toronto locations.

Olivia Kim joined Nordstrom in February 2013 in a then newly-created position of Creative Projects Director. Kim was named Vice President of Creative Projects in September 2015.
