SPAR announces Cystic Fibrosis Ireland as its new national charity partner

Ireland, 2017-Aug-17 — /EPR Retail News/ — SPAR has announced that Cystic Fibrosis Ireland will be its new national charity partner for the next two years. SPAR has vowed to raise up to €300,000 during this time for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland through collection boxes in 400 SPAR stores nationwide, a donation on selected SPAR Own Brand products and a number of key events.

To mark this new partnership, SPAR Ireland recently hosted a coffee morning at luxury Dublin members club, Residence. The event was attended by well-known cystic fibrosis campaigner, Jillian McNulty, who successfully campaigned for the government funding of the Orkambi drug, which is used to treat the underlying causes of the disease.

Philip Watt, CEO Cystic Fibrosis Ireland said: “We would like to thank SPAR for choosing Cystic Fibrosis Ireland as their chosen charity. CF is a genetically inherited disease that primarily affects the lungs and the digestive system. Ireland has the highest incidence of cystic fibrosis in the world. Unfortunately there is no cure for cystic fibrosis, but medical and scientific research has greatly improved the treatment of this disease in recent years.”

Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director, BWG Foods (owners and operators of the SPAR Brand in Ireland) said: “SPAR is proud to work with Cystic Fibrosis Ireland as our charity partner. We hope that our support will continue to help improve the quality of the lives of those living with cystic fibrosis in Ireland. Aside from our charity boxes in stores, we will also be making a regular donation from the sale of our SPAR Own brand products and be involved in a number of fundraising events to raise as much funds as possible for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.”

The funds raised by SPAR will be used to support the independent living of those with cystic fibrosis. Those living with this disease face many challenges in areas such as education, health, housing, employment and family support.

Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (CFI) is a voluntary organisation that was set up in 1963 to improve treatment and facilities for people with cystic fibrosis in Ireland. CFI seeks to provide the best possible quality of life for people with cystic fibrosis by raising funds through fundraising and donations from the public.

SPAR Ireland announces new €1 million advertising campaign for its healthy eating initiative, SPAR Better Choices

Ireland, 2017-Feb-16 — /EPR Retail News/ — An investment of more than €1 million has gone into SPAR Ireland’s new advertising campaign to showcase its healthy eating initiative, SPAR Better Choices.

The campaign includes the launch of two adverts, one featuring Republic of Ireland football captain, Seamus Coleman, and the other featuring model and mum-of-two, Claudine Keane.

The core theme of the SPAR Better Choices initiative is about having the power to make the right choices in order to stay healthy. This is depicted in the ads by focusing on the two stars growing up in Ireland and the choices they made in their lives. It is hoped that the ads will inspire people to make positive food choices with the help of the SPAR healthy eating range.

Speaking about the initiative, Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director, BWG Foods (owners and operators of the SPAR Brand in Ireland), commented: “We have invested very heavily in our latest ad campaign in order to demonstrate our focus on the SPAR Better Choices programme. At SPAR we are committed to providing our customers with the best product offerings across our stores. We feel passionate that eating well should be a priority and that with the SPAR Better Choices offering our customers can expect to find the right choice for themselves under the tree at SPAR.’’

The SPAR Better Choices programme sees SPAR redefine its offering to customers, whatever their lifestyle or food preference may be, in response to changes in Irish consumers’ lifestyle choices. The brand has launched SPAR Better Choices to ensure that eating on the go doesn’t mean compromising on health and wellbeing. The initiative also caters for customers with varying nutritional needs with low fat, high protein, and gluten free products on offer.

SPAR has partnered with dietitian Ellen Roche, to research and carefully select which products to include in the range. A member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, Ellen has spent many months working with SPAR on the Better Choices range, which sees all products highlighted in stores with the SPAR Better Choices signage to offer customers guidance on choosing the best foods for their lifestyle while on the move. Snack favourites under SPAR Better Choices include fruit pots, rice cakes and yoghurts.

The SPAR Better Choices ad campaign was rolled out on 1 February. The ads are supported by a strong digital and social media campaign. Watch the video https://youtu.be/6Lv7fkvpdLw or read more about SPAR Better Choices on the website www.spar.ie

SPAR Better Choices Kids: SPAR Ireland launches special lunch pack with child specific food portions

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, 2016-Sep-26 — /EPR Retail News/ — Following on from the very successful launch of SPAR Better Choices in June, SPAR Ireland has now launched SPAR Better Choices Kids, which sees new child specific food portions available in SPAR stores across Ireland. A special lunch pack has been designed, which contains a recommended roll or wrap of choice, a yoghurt or a piece of fruit and a bottle of SPAR water for €3,50.

Model and mom-of-two, Claudine Keane, officially launched SPAR Better Choices Kids. The initiative aims to offer children a new range of healthy and convenient options, with solutions coming from the fresh food, deli and grocery ranges. It also caters for customers with varying nutritional needs with low fat, high protein, and gluten free products on offer.

The overall SPAR Better Choices initiative sees SPAR Ireland redefine its offering to customers, whatever their health preferences may be, in response to changes in Irish consumers’ lifestyle choices. Eating on-the-go has traditionally meant a limited choice and little information available on nutritional content. To help ensure that eating in a hurry doesn’t mean compromising on health, SPAR has launched SPAR Better Choices.

To launch this new initiative, SPAR Ireland partnered with dietitian Ellen Roche, to research and carefully select the products to include in the range. A member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, Ellen has spent many months working with SPAR on this exciting new development, which sees all products highlighted in stores with the SPAR Better Choices logo to offer customers guidance on choosing the best foods for their lifestyle, while on the move. Snack favourites under SPAR Better Choices Kids include fruit pots, rice cakes, yoghurts and juices.

Having enjoyed a healthy ‘LA lifestyle’ for many years now with husband and football legend, Robbie Keane, and their two sons Robert and Ronan, Claudine was delighted to partner with SPAR to launch the health and wellbeing range for kids. The mom of two is passionate about providing her children with healthy foods, and is all too aware of the need in Ireland to offer healthy choices for children when it comes to convenience foods.

Speaking at the SPAR Better Choices Kids launch, Claudine said: “I am delighted to launch the SPAR Better Choices Kids initiative. As a family we are always on the move and when we come back to Ireland, it’s important to be able to provide the boys with nutritious snacks be it for breakfast, lunch or on-the-go. I am thrilled to see that SPAR now has this covered.”

Commenting on the initiative, Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director BWG Foods (owners and operators of the SPAR Brand in Ireland), said: “At SPAR we are committed to providing our customers with the best product offerings across our stores. We are delighted to announce the launch of the SPAR Better Choices Kids campaign, which we have been working on with Ellen Roche in order to develop this more comprehensive health offering. We want to offer parents fresh Food-to-Go solutions for themselves and their children, and let them know that they can always rely on us to have a great choice of healthy options for the whole family at SPAR.”
