MinuteClinic opened six new locations inside Target stores in South Florida

WOONSOCKET, R.I., 2016-Jun-25 — /EPR Retail News/ — MinuteClinic, the retail medical clinic of CVS Health, has opened six new locations inside Target stores in South Florida. The clinics located in stores in Boynton Beach, Davie, Deerfield Beach,Miami and West Palm Beach have been rebranded and converted to MinuteClinic. There are now 28 MinuteClinic locations in South Florida, including clinics in select CVS Pharmacy stores and Navarro Discount Pharmacy.

“The new MinuteClinic locations inside Target will offer the same scope of services available to patients at all our other clinics in Florida and nationwide,” said Andrew Sussman, M.D., President of MinuteClinic, and Executive Vice President and Associate Chief Medical Officer of CVS Health. “In addition, some services will be new to Target guests, including treatment for minor sprains and strains, contraceptive care and smoking cessation counseling.”

MinuteClinic is open seven days a week and no appointment is necessary. Most major health insurance is accepted. For patients paying cash or credit, treatment prices are posted at each clinic and at www.minuteclinic.com.

Nurse practitioners at MinuteClinic specialize in family health care and can diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for common family illnesses such as strep throat; ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections; nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and indigestion. Acne, rashes and skin conditions; sprains and strains; and minor wounds and abrasions are also treated. Common vaccinations are available at most locations, such as influenza, tetanus, pneumonia and Hepatitis A and B.

Prevention and wellness services include screening and monitoring for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, tuberculosis (TB) testing, contraceptive care, motion sickness prevention and smoking cessation.

At the conclusion of each visit, patients receive educational material, a prescription (when clinically appropriate) and a visit summary. A copy of the diagnostic record can be sent electronically, or by fax or mail, to a primary care provider with patient permission.

With the new MinuteClinic in Target locations, Sussman says MinuteClinic can continue to play a complementary role in working with primary care providers.

MinuteClinic locations in South Florida are affiliated with Cleveland Clinic Florida.

“About 50 percent of MinuteClinic visits occur on evenings, weekends and holidays when patients may not be able to get an appointment with their primary care provider and otherwise may need to choose more expensive emergency department or urgent care options,” he said. “Also, approximately half of the patients seen at MinuteClinic are ‘medically homeless’ and do not have a personal physician.”

In December 2015, CVS Health acquired all Target pharmacies (1,672 locations across 47 states) and retail clinics (79 locations in seven states). Target-based pharmacy locations have been rebranded CVS Pharmacy and are operating through a store-within-a-store format. Target clinic locations have been rebranded as MinuteClinic.

The MinuteClinic walk-in medical clinics inside Target stores in South Florida operate from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (Miami locations close at 7 p.m.) and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (Miami locations open at 11 a.m.).

Grand & Toy announces partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada to support its conservation efforts and employee volunteer opportunities

Natural Partner Legacy Aligns to Grand & Toy’s Commitment to Sustainability

TORONTO, 2016-Jun-25 — /EPR Retail News/ — Grand & Toy, an affiliate of global office products provider Office Depot, Inc., today announced a three-year partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC). NCC is Canada’s leading national land conservation organization whose mission is to lead, innovate and use creativity in the conservation of Canada’s natural heritage. This agreement includes a financial commitment to support NCC’s conservation efforts, as well as employee volunteer opportunities across Canada.

Grand & Toy’s support will help NCC’s work preserving this country’s ecologically important landscapes and the plants and wildlife they sustain. “The Nature Conservancy of Canada partnership is just one example of our ongoing commitment to corporate citizenship,” said Serguei Tchertok, Sustainability Manager at Grand & Toy. “Our associates identified the environment as a top priority for our community involvement efforts, and the NCC is a perfect fit for our organization.

It aligns to our core business, provides associate engagement opportunities and offers meaningful work for our 1,000 employees across Canada.” A group of Grand & Toy employees kicked off the NCC partnership by participating in the Not(tawasaga) Your Average Tree Planting event, held over two days (May 26 and May 28), by planting nearly 1,600 maple, birch and other native trees in the Minesing Wetlands. Grand & Toy volunteers worked to plant two acres of deciduous swamp forest, which will help to stabilize and shade the Nottawasaga River and improve wildlife habitat. “We are very grateful for our partners and donors, who share our passion and vision for protecting our natural spaces, and especially thankful to Grand & Toy’s employees for lending a hand, and helping NCC take care of our important natural areas,” said Erica Thompson, NCC’s Senior National Director, Conservation Engagement & Development. “Volunteers play an important role in taking care of the habitats that NCC protects.

Our volunteer events take place right on NCC properties, and are a great way to explore the natural habitats in your community, learn more about conservation, and reconnect with nature.” In 2015, Grand & Toy launched an employee volunteer program called Pause and Affect where every associate is given eight hours each year for volunteer activities. Participation in NCC events will not count towards the eight-hour limit, enabling staff to be more involved in helping care for special natural areas.

Best Buy Canada’s School Tech Grants program returns and now accepting applications

BURNABY, BC, 2016-Jun-25 — /EPR Retail News/ — This week, Best Buy Canada announced the return of the School Tech Grants program, which offers financial grants of up to $10,000 to schools for the purchase of new classroom technology. The program is currently accepting online applications from elementary schools (Grades K-8) across Canada at www.bestbuy.ca/schooltechgrants. Application deadline is Thursday, July 7, 2016 and recipients will be announced in September.

The School Tech Grant program is unique as it allows schools to outline exactly how much funding is needed and specifically what technology the schools need to take learning to the next level for their students.

“We continue to see a tremendous amount of interest from teachers and principals excited by the possibilities that can happen when students have access to technology,” said Andrea MacBeth, Community Relations Manager, Best Buy Canada. “We know how amazing technology can be and the impact it can have in the hands of students. Best Buy Canada wants to provide schools opportunities to access the latest in modern tech.”

The Best Buy School Tech Grants are available in two categories:

  • General School Tech Grants offer a way for schools to improve or integrate technology in their classrooms to advance student learning. Previous winners have used these grants to support tech needs in libraries, special needs classrooms, and literacy programs.
  • STEM School Tech Grants are available for schools looking to add technology to programs that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM). Previous recipients include investments in robotics clubs, math or coding programs, makerspaces, and digital media courses.

Since the program started, Best Buy Canada has awarded $2.3 million in grants to more than 100 Canadian schools as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting students and education in Canada.

New this year

Best Buy Canada has partnered with My Class Needs (MCN), a Canadian charity that connects classroom projects with donors through a crowdfunding website. Together, Best Buy and MCN will be providing the opportunity for elementary school teachers to apply for micro-grants of up to $1000 for new tech. This additional funding aims to support individual classroom projects related to Science, Technology, Engineering or Math with the technology needed to either be established or grow.

“We are thrilled to partner with Best Buy Canada on this new initiative,” said Amy Coupal, MCN CEO.  “The support of Best Buy allows MyClassNeeds.ca to bring innovative resources to more schools across Canada and directly impact the educational experience of students. I’m grateful for Best Buy Canada’s leadership and commitment to supporting students by giving them greater access to innovative learning resources.”

Teachers can apply for a Best Buy School Tech Micro Grant through MyClassNeeds.ca from July 18 – September 9, 2016.
