PHOENIX, 2017-Apr-07 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Arizona Diamondbacks and the nation’s leading pet specialty retailer, PetSmart, announced today (April 6, 2017) the expansion of the Dog Days of Summer ticket package where four people and their dog can take in a D-backs game on the PetSmart Patio featuring 30 Doggie Suites, all-you-can-eat classic baseball fare and doggie ice cream sundaes complete with kibble toppings, indoor and outdoor dog parks, a pop-up dog adoption center and more.

First launched last season for all Sunday home games, the Dog Days of Summer ticket package is again available this season for Sunday and now also Monday home games at Chase Field — totaling 21 games where dogs can take in a ball game with their pet parents. The launch of the PetSmart Patio for the 2017 season begins April 9.

“The Dog Days of Summer package was extremely popular last season, as evidenced by the quick sellouts, so we wanted to expand to Monday home games to give more pet parents the opportunity to enjoy this unique D-backs game experience with their dogs on the PetSmart Patio, just above left-center field,” said Derrick Hall, D-backs President & CEO. “The seats are great and we witnessed hundreds of people enjoying games with their dogs last season and expect even more pups to come out for our 2017 season.”

New this year is enhanced in-game exposure for the pets available for adoption at The Adopt Spot @ Chase, a pop-up adoption center supported by PetSmart Charities and staffed by its local adoption partners including the Arizona Animal Welfare League, Arizona Humane Society and HALO who bring adoptable pets to the Dog Days of Summer home games to help them find their new pet parents among the D-backs fan base. Several MVPs, or “Most Valuable Pups,” will get shout-outs on the big screen to help promote adoptions at the game. Last season under this program nearly 60 pups in total went home with their forever families from the 11 D-backs Sunday home games.

  • Record Attempt Will Take Place May 1 with “Bark at the Park” at Chase Field; 1,000 Dogs Needed, Fans Invited to Participate

PHOENIX, 2016-Apr-24 — /EPR Retail News/ — Chase Field has gone to the dogs! After the successful launch earlier this month of the PetSmart Patio and additional PetSmart-sponsored permanent dog-welcoming facilities at Chase Field that have created the first-ever season long dog-friendly ballpark in America, PetSmart, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Central Garden & Pet are cranking it up a notch – 1,000 – or 1,000 notches –by attempting to set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the most dogs attending a sporting event.

The attempt will be officiated by a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator and take place Sunday, May 1, when the D-backs host the Colorado Rockies and the national kick-off of Bark at the Park, a traveling 12-game dog-friendly program where dog-loving fans can bring their best friends to a baseball game at stadiums across America. This year’s Bark at the Park program is hosted by Central Garden & Pet, the parent company of Nylabone® and AvoDerm® Natural Pet Foods, as well as PetSmart. Bark at the Park has been run by this Central Garden & Pet-led sponsorship group more than a decade and dog attendance at these events at stadiums across the country have ranged from 300-900 dogs per game.

The group’s aim is to host 1,000 dogs at Chase Field on May 1. According to the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS organization, this is the first official attempt for this record. The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator will account for the dogs entering Chase Field and is expected to call the record by the end of the second inning.

In addition to taking in a baseball game together, fans and their canine companions can participate in the pre-game “Puppy Parade” held on the field’s warning track where it’s hoped that 1,000 dogs will take part. Also on hand will be dog-friendly ice cream, PetSmart’s Pet Expressions dog-friendly paint stenciling service featuring the D-backs and other MLB logos, as well as photo opportunities, giveaways, discount coupons – and even dog adoptions. PetSmart-Sponsored Dog-Friendly Facilities at D-backs’ Ballpark to Include Dog Adoptions at 13 Home Games with Arizona Humane Society, Arizona Animal Welfare League and HALO

PHOENIX, 2016-Apr-05 — /EPR Retail News/ — In partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks, PetSmart and three Phoenix-based animal welfare organizations – Arizona Humane Society, Arizona Animal Welfare League and HALO Animal Rescue – are helping make Chase Field the first Major League Baseball stadium in the U.S. to offer a season-long dog adoption program.

As part of the PetSmart-D-backs’ Dog Days of Summer program launching April 10 at Chase Field, adoptable dogs will be available at 13 Sunday home games in The Adopt Spot by PetSmart facility. This new adoption center is part of the innovative dog-friendly amenities at the ballpark that also include the PetSmart Patio and PetSmart Park where dog-loving fans can enjoy America’s favorite pastime with their best friend or expand their families through adoption.

For each of the 13 games, The Adopt Spot by PetSmart adoption center will be staffed by one of three local animal welfare organizations beginning with the Arizona Humane Society on April 10.

“When we were concepting the dog-friendly facilities at Chase Field with our D-backs partners, we knew that adoptions just had to be part of this first-ever program,” said Eran Cohen, Chief Customer Experience Officer, PetSmart. “We are pleased to launch The Adopt Spot by PetSmart at Chase Field and to announce our local adoption partners in this unprecedented program. Together we can drive awareness around the importance of adoption during these dog-friendly home game events and help find lots of dogs their forever homes.”

Upon adoption, dogs can be immediately taken home from Chase Field by their new pet parents. Free D-backs-branded leashes will be available, as well as the PetSmart Adoption Kit, which provides guidance and tips on transitioning a new pet into the home and offers free one-time services for training, veterinarian and Doggie Day Camp for socialization. The kit also includes a coupon for a free bag of dog food and additional discount offers on everything a new pet parent needs including beds, bowls, collars and leashes ($400 total value).
The adoption partners will also each receive a grant from PetSmart Charities to assist with adoption preparations and event expenses.

Last month, PetSmart and the D-backs announced their new partnership for the PetSmart Patio, PetSmart Park and The Adopt Spot by PetSmart, making Chase Field the first season-long dog-friendly ballpark in the U.S. Beginning April 10, at the first home game when the D-backs take on the Chicago Cubs, pet parents will be able to enjoy Sunday homes games with their best friends on the PetSmart Patio, offering exclusive seating above left-center field, where concessions include dog-friendly ice cream with kibble topping and free items like a baseball mitt-shaped dog bed where dogs can curl up, a water bowl and other dog goodies courtesy of PetSmart. Directly behind thePetSmart Patio will be the PetSmart Park – an outdoor and indoor (air conditioned) dog park so even in the heat of the summer dogs can run around and play. The outdoor park will feature a baseball diamond and a grassy outfield – perfect for dogs to explore, play ball with other dogs or find their perfect “spot” to go to the bathroom.

Each year, about 7 million pets enter shelters across North America and some 3 million healthy, adoptable pets are euthanized. Pet parents will be able to enjoy America’s favorite pastime with their best friends at Chase Field with exclusive seating, a grassy play area nearby, and the PetSmart adoption spot that will feature adoptable dogs ready to find their forever homes among the D-backs’ fan base.

The PetSmart Patio will be located along the main concourse behind the left-center field wall. The patio area will feature a family-friendly atmosphere with multi-tiered seating that is perfect for groups of humans and canines of various sizes. For each of the 13 Dog Days of Summer held at the D-backs’ Sunday home games, pets can enjoy concessions such as dog-friendly ice cream with toppings like kibble and other pet treats. As part of the Dog Days of Summer ticket package, pet parents will also receive a PetSmart “Doggie Bag,” complete with free items from PetSmart.
