Bon-Ton Stores to close 42 locations as part of its store rationalization program

MILWAUKEE, 2018-Feb-01 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc.(OTCQX:BONT) (“the Company”), today (Jan. 31, 2018) announced the 42 locations that will be closed as part of its previously communicated store rationalization program. The closing stores will include locations under all of the Company’s nameplates.

“As part of the comprehensive turnaround plan we announced in November, we are taking the next steps in our efforts to move forward with a more productive store footprint,” said Bill Tracy, president and chief executive officer for The Bon-Ton Stores. “Including other recently announced store closures, we expect to close a total of 47 stores in early 2018. We remain focused on executing our key initiatives to drive improved performance in an effort to strengthen our capital structure to support the business going forward.”

Mr. Tracy continued, “We would like to thank the loyal customers who have shopped at these locations and express deep gratitude to our team of hard-working associates for their commitment to Bon-Ton and to serving our customers.”

In order to ensure a seamless experience for customers, Bon-Ton has partnered with a third-party liquidator, Hilco Merchant Resources, to help manage the store closing sales. The store closing sales are scheduled to begin on February 1, 2018 and run for approximately 10 to 12 weeks. Associates at these locations will be offered the opportunity to interview for available positions at other store locations.

The closing locations announced today are in addition to five other recently announced store closures, four of which the Company completed at the end of January and one at which the Company will conclude its closing sale in February. Following is the full list of closing stores:

The Bon-Ton Stores appoints Michael Culhane EVP, Chief Financial Officer

YORK, Pa., 2018-Jan-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (OTCQX:BONT) today announced the appointment of Michael Culhane to the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of the Company, effective immediately. Mr. Culhane will be responsible for Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Credit, Investor Relations, Legal and Internal Audit.  He succeeds Nancy Walsh, who is leaving the Company effective as of January 22, 2018, to take a position at another company.

Mr. Culhane brings more than 30 years of finance and accounting experience and a deep knowledge of the retail industry to Bon-Ton, having held several roles at retail companies throughout his career, including as Chief Financial Officer.  He was most recently President and Co-founder of TMAG, Inc., providing CFO consulting services.  Prior to TMAG, Inc., he served as Chief Financial Officer at Hudson’s Bay Company and has also held various executive roles with Lord & Taylor and May Department Store Group. Mr. Culhane has a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Total sales increased 1.9% to $280.6 million in the current year compared with $275.3 million in the prior year period.

Bon-Ton Store at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, Maryland to close early next year

MILWAUKEE, WI, 2017-Jul-22 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT), today (July 20, 2017) announced it will close its store at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, Maryland early next year when its lease expires February 28, 2018. The store will be open for business to customers through February 2018. The closing will impact approximately 55 associates currently working at this location.

(NASDAQ: BONT) today (May 2, 2017 ) announced the appointment of Norm Veit to the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer of the Company, effective Monday, May 1, 2017.  Mr. Veit will have responsibility for IT strategy and operations.

Veit brings more than 35 years of valuable experience to Bon-Ton, having held a variety of leadership roles in retail companies throughout his career. He most recently served as Chief Information Officer and EVP, Distribution, Real Estate & Facilities for Nine West Holdings, Inc. In this role, Veit was responsible for the company’s global IT strategy and operations, revamping retail systems to improve efficiency, enhancing the customer shopping experience, and all corporate real estate and facilities operations. The Bon-Ton Stores seeks to hire 13,000 seasonal associates during its hiring event on September 30
