Raley’s expands its Ready-To-Go meal options with 32 different meals

Raley’s expands its Ready-To-Go meal options with 32 different meals

Expanded program includes over 32 options for an affordable price

Fair Oaks, CA, 2017-Nov-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — According to USDA data, on an average day, Americans spend 37 minutes preparing and cleaning up their meals and some say it can range up to almost 1.5 hours. However, when purchasing fast food, that preparation time decreases by 31 minutes. As the trend for convenience grows, along with the demand for healthier options outside of fast food, today Raley’s announces the expansion of their Ready-To-Go meal options (first launched in 2010) with new sizes, flavors and packaging. The new and improved Ready-To-Go program includes 32 different meals, all made with fresh, premium ingredients that can be found in the fresh deli department in grab and go displays.

The new program and meal selections were driven by trending flavors, fruits and vegetables as well as Raley’s customer favorites.  Ready-to-Go focuses on higher quality and “Better for You” options that include unique, global flavors like Chicken Fajitas (Family Meal), Moroccan Style Couscous (Mini Side) and Beef with Chimichurri Sauce (Mini Meal).

“Our customers are in for a real treat with Raley’s new Ready-To-Go meals,” said Keith Knopf, Raley’s President & Chief Operating Officer. “We understand the importance of convenient, healthy food options at a value and believe our customers will enjoy the new meals, made with quality ingredients that taste great!”

Raley’s Ready-To-Go Meals can be heated up in as little as 2 minutes and range from $3.99 for a single serving to $16.99 for the family size. In addition to adding more modern flavors, Raley’s has improved the size and packaging. The new package is modern and functional; customers can heat the aluminum trays directly in the microwave or oven. Ready-to-Go meals come in three different convenient sizes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including mini, entrée size, and large family size.

  • Mini size: includes 15 different offerings that are the perfect size for customers looking for weekday breakfasts, office lunches or after-school kids snacks. The size ranges from 6 to 11 ounces and includes breakfast options such as scrambles, sandwiches and burritos.
  • Entrée size: includes 12 different offerings and serves 1-2 people for lunch or dinner. The size ranges from 8 to 16 ounces.
  • Family size: includes 5 different offerings and serves a family of 4-6. This new line is now 50% larger than the previous version. The size ranges from 48 to 54 ounces.

In addition to the packaging, which shows that these meals contain only clean and fresh ingredients, Raley’s took label transparency a stet further, by tapping its recently launched labeling system for the product line. The Raley’s Shelf Guide is a one-of-a-kind shelf tag program that helps customers combat label confusion to find options that meet their personal dietary needs. In this case, Raley’s new Ready-to-Go meals will offer customers clear descriptions, including “Nutrient Dense,” “Calorie Conscious,” “Vegan” and “Vegetarian” directly on the package.

Raley’s Ready-to-Go program is the latest addition to the company’s commitment to providing customers with “Better for You” products, with healthy, nutritious options customers can feel good about eating.

Raley’s completes transition of its fresh seafood offerings to sustainable seafood

Raley’s completes transition of its fresh seafood offerings to sustainable seafood

Fair Oaks, CA, 2017-Jul-13 — /EPR Retail News/ — Raley’s is proud to announce the early completion of a transition of its fresh seafood offerings to sustainable seafood companywide as part of an ongoing effort to change the way the world eats, one plate at a time. This ambitious goal was accomplished six months ahead of schedule, making it easier for customers to select the best fresh, environmentally sound products.

“When humans consume seafood, we leave a permanent mark on the ecosystem,” said Keith Knopf, Raley’s President & Chief Operating Officer. “Sustainable seafood represents a healthy relationship with our planet that can endure forever. It is a way to replenish our oceans and manage their resources into the future. Informed consumers can make all the difference by finding out where their fish comes from and by making responsible choices.”

Sustainable seafood is either caught wild or farmed in ways that consider the long-term vitality of harvested species and the well-being of the oceans without harming affected ecosystems. Raley’s fishery partners are dedicated to preserving the health of marine environments for future generations. Providing sustainable seafood means working with trusted fisheries and fishermen to ensure seafood is sourced responsibly and ethically.

Certified fisheries and farms must go through a rigorous process to validate that the practices used comply with requirements established by international experts. Raley’s only sources its fresh seafood from fisheries or farms with certifications recognized internationally as credible by scientific, industry and non-governmental organizations.

In addition, Raley’s vendors must provide documented evidence that products do not come from sources that utilize any illegal methods. Raley’s requires full seafood traceability, including audits and substantial documentation.

Raley’s seafood program, fishery certification and ongoing seafood audits are in partnership with Resiliensea Group. In addition, Raley’s seafood staff has undergone extensive training to answer customer questions about sustainability.

“Let’s Begin to Offer Healthier Choices at Checkout”

Fair Oaks, CA, 2016-Nov-16 — /EPR Retail News/ — In an ongoing effort to enhance life with health and wellness, Raley’s Family of Fine Stores has implemented “Better for You” check stands throughout the chain.  This includes removing all artificially sweetened sodas from the check stand cold cases, while also upgrading the selection of snacks and treats- enlarging offerings such as granola bars, nutrition bars and improving the quality of certain candy options.

“We know impulsive choices happen at the check stand,” said Keith Knopf, Raley’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are proud to take a brave next step by making it easier for shoppers to choose healthy, more nutritious options.”

‘Better For You’ check stands are another first step toward helping customers make affordable, nutritious choices.  Last month, Raley’s began offering free fruit for kids. In August, they eliminated Raley’s private label brand soda that contained high-fructose corn syrup and artificial colors and flavors, including diet soda varieties. In 2015, Raley’s eliminated tobacco products from stores. These decisions are in response to customers’ increased interest in food and greater concerns about their health than ever before. These improvements in the shopping experience are based on Raley’s commitment to customers.

In addition to these changes in the store experience, Raley’s has launched their “Let’s Begin” campaign in stores and on Raleys.com that helps educate customers on how to make more informed decisions when purchasing food.

Raley’s Family of Fine Stores named “Retailer of the Year” at the Wine Enthusiast’s 2016 Wine Star Awards

Fair Oaks, CA, 2016-Oct-23 — /EPR Retail News/ — Raley’s Family of Fine Stores is honored to be named Wine Enthusiast’s 2016 Wine Star Award Winner for the “Retailer of the Year” in the United States. Wine Enthusiast cited the grocery chain’s courage to reimagine its wine and spirits category and turn it into a thriving business. The honor is particularly highly regarded because the nominees are determined by an impartial panel of experts from the industry.

“Through our education efforts, we seek to broaden customers’ options for eclectic and affordable wines,” said Curtis Mann, Raley’s Director of Wine, Beer, and Spirits. “The team at Raley’s has been working hard over the last three years to develop a premiere department and greatly appreciate Wine Enthusiast’s recognition of these efforts.” Mann completed the distinguished Wine and Spirits Education Trust diploma and is sitting for the theory portion of the highly respected Masters of Wine Examination in June 2017.

In 2013, Raley’s began a transformation of its Wine, Beer & Spirits department to match its already best in class meat, seafood and fresh service deli offerings. The improvements included inroads into classic regions of the wine world as well as diverse offerings from California, Oregon and Washington at all price points, expanding Raley’s selection significantly.

The following year, the chain began hiring in-store wine stewards who help customers understand the exciting but complex world of wine.  Now, more than 30 Raley’s Wine Stewards have completed extensive training in the Wine and Spirits Education Trust and have passed the WSET level 2 exam. Many of the Wine Stewards host a weekly educational tasting centered around a wine region or varietal, offering customers exposure to new regions, varieties and brands.

“We are curating a relationship with customers by offering an even more extensive selection of wine,” said Keith Knopf, Raley’s Chief Operating Officer. “The wine department will continue to be a meaningful and significant part of how we serve our customers and differentiate ourselves from the competition.”

Raley’s continues to commit resources to the wine department with the installation of temperature controlled Borgon cases for high-end Wine Shop stores, as well as the creation of wine and beer bars in several stores. As the department has expanded, Raley’s has been able to secure allocations of highly sought after wines from Burgundy, Bordeaux, Tuscany and California, as well as developing programs with small producers and importers who typically sell only to restaurants.

Raley’s moves into the future promising to become an even more eclectic and innovative Wine, Beer & Spirits retailer.
