“A kinder and braver world is urgent, and it is possible. Our work at Born This Way Foundation is to support the wellness – mental, social and emotional – of young people and build strong, resilient communities,” said Lady Gaga. “We’re grateful for our partnership with Starbucks and Spotify this holiday season!”

Staples funded all 133 projects posted on DonorsChoose.org in San Francisco with $100,966 donation

Staples and Lady Gaga Help San Francisco Teachers Create Positive Classroom Experiences

SAN FRANCISCO, 2017-Aug-11 — /EPR Retail News/ — Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLS) announced today (Aug. 10, 2017) that all 133 projects posted on DonorsChoose.org in San Francisco received full funding as part of Staples’s $1 million donation to DonorsChoose.org, a charity that has funded more than 900,000 classroom projects for teachers and has positively affected more than 28 million U.S. students.

As part of the Staples for Students program, Staples together with Lady Gaga, continue to support education and promote positive classroom experiences across the country this back-to-school season. Staples funded the balance of every 133 projects listed on DonorsChoose.org in San Francisco. With a donation of $100,966, Staples impacted 92 teachers and more than 9,760 students in the community.

For example, Mr. Ellingston at Jose Ortega Elementary School will have the opportunity to take his students on a field trip to a 4-day outdoor science adventure.

“We’re so excited to be working with Lady Gaga, DonorsChoose.org and Born This Way Foundation to help U.S. teachers have what they need for a great school year,” said Michelle Bottomley, chief marketing officer, Staples. “Staples is a longtime supporter of education and, and we know there’s a burden placed on teachers to ensure that their classrooms are stocked with the materials and activities they need to spark kid’s learning. We are committed to supporting teachers through DonorsChoose.org and encourage others to fund a classroom project this year so teachers and kids go all-out in reaching their full potential or donate in one of our stores.”

Driven by an insight from the Education Market Association that an estimated 99.5 percent of all public school teachers use their own money to equip their classrooms, often at a cost of more than $400 per year, Staples takes great pride in helping to alleviate some of the pressure placed upon teachers.

“Staples has been a steadfast supporter of DonorsChoose.org for years, and we’re so thankful for its continued support,” said Charles Best, founder of DonorsChoose.org. “Staples’s million-dollar donation to DonorsChoose.org ensures that hundreds of teachers, including many in San Francisco, will be able to bring learning to life for their students.”

Lady Gaga and Staples collaborated to create a public service announcement that is currently airing nationwide, further increasing visibility around the need to celebrate and support teachers and students. Earlier in the summer, Staples also donated $1 million to Born This Way Foundation, which Lady Gaga co-founded with her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, to support positive classroom experiences.

Staples unveils new public service announcement starring music icon Lady Gaga to promote kindness in school

Staples Announces $2 Million in Donations to DonorsChoose.org and Born This Way Foundation

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., 2017-Jul-04 — /EPR Retail News/ — Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLS) is building on its long-standing commitment of supporting education with the reveal today (Jun. 28, 2017) of a new public service announcement (PSA) starring music icon Lady Gaga.

Making its debuts on StaplesforStudents.org, the PSA features the call to action to promote kindness in school and support teachers with the resources they need for a successful classroom.

The PSA highlights DonorsChoose.org – a charity that has helped donors fund more than 25,000 classroom projects for teachers that have positively affected more than 23 million students across the country – and Born This Way Foundation, which was founded by Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, to support the wellness of young people and empower them to create a kinder and braver world.

Driven by several sobering statistics, Staples and Lady Gaga have teamed up to promote kindness in schools across the country and ensure that teachers and students have the resources they need for successful classroom learning. According to a report by Sesame Workshop, 86% of teachers (and 70% of parents) admit to worrying often that the world is an unkind place for children. Further, the Education Market Association reports that an estimated 99.5% of public school teachers use their own money to equip their classrooms – frequently at a cost of more than $400 per year.

In support of this mission, Staples also announced that it is making $1 million donations to both DonorsChoose.org and Born This Way Foundation.

“We’re thrilled to team up with Lady Gaga, Born This Way Foundation and DonorsChoose.org to support education and positive classroom experiences nationwide,” said Frank Bifulco, chief marketing officer, Staples. “There’s a correlation between kindness and overall well-being among students, and we’ll work together to create an environment for students that will allow them to flourish and propel them into their bright futures.”

Making of the PSA

The Staples for Students PSA with Lady Gaga was fully created by Madison + Vine and airs nationwide for the back-to-school season.

“What made this such a rewarding project was having all parties — Staples, Lady Gaga and our creative team — come together for a common goal of building more positive classroom experiences, while also telling an emotional story that people would be inspired to share and pass on. And we feel we really achieved that,” said James Shani, CEO and founder of Madison + Vine.

Madison + Vine’s unique, filmmaker-forward approach allows for the creation of narratives without sacrificing efficiency. The entire creative process – from ideation to production and post – is housed under one ever-expanding roof. The company is home for the most talented, emerging filmmakers from around the world, and the roster of directors continues to grow.

Starbucks to raise fund for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation

Seattle, 2017-Jun-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — Starbucks is partnering with Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation to spread a simple message – be kind.

Starting tomorrow (June 13), Starbucks will donate 25 cents from each one of its colorful Cups of Kindness beverages sold at participating Starbucks® stores in the United States and Canada through June 19 to Born This Way Foundation. Funds raised will go toward programs that support youth wellness and empowerment by fostering kindness, improving mental health resources, and creating more positive environments.

“We’re healthier and happier when we live our lives with compassion and our communities are stronger when we treat one another with generosity and respect,” said Lady Gaga. “Born This Way Foundation and I are so excited to partner with Starbucks to help inspire positivity and love through the Cups of Kindness collection.”

Cups of Kindness Collection

The new Starbucks Cups of Kindness collection features four vivid iced beverages hand-picked by Lady Gaga, including the new Matcha Lemonade and Violet Drink. The refreshing, nondairy drinks come in a rainbow of colors and are all under 150 calories for a grande size.

“I adore the entire collection and I instantly fell in love with the Matcha Lemonade,” she said.

New Matcha Lemonade:  This vibrant green drink is made with finely ground Teavana® matcha green tea, combined with crisp lemonade then shaken with ice to create a refreshingly sweet, delicious drink.

New Violet Drink: The sweet blackberries and tart hibiscus of Very Berry Hibiscus Starbucks Refreshers™ Beverage swirl together with creamy coconutmilk and ice, creating a refreshing (and violet-hued) sip.

Ombré Pink Drink: A refreshing beverage that combines light, fruity Cool Lime Starbucks Refreshers™ Beverage with cool, creamy coconutmilk and a splash of Teavana® Shaken Iced Passion Tango™ Tea and a lime wheel, for a bright burst of hibiscus notes.

Pink Drink: A light and refreshing beverage that features the sweet strawberry flavors of Strawberry Acai Refreshers with accents of passion fruit and acai combined with coconutmilk, and topped with a scoop of strawberries. Included in Cups of Kindness collection in United States only.

“Over the years we’ve admired the amazing work that Lady Gaga has led through Born This Way Foundation,” said Holly Hinton, director of Music and Artist Programming. “We are proud to introduce the Cups of Kindness collection to raise awareness and fund the Foundation’s efforts to spread kindness, support youth and make the world a better place.”

One program that will benefit from the Cups of Kindness initiative is Born This Way Foundation’s Channel Kindness, a platform featuring stories of kindness as documented by young people from around the United States. These youth reporters, ages 16 to 24, have been recruited to identify and document the acts of generosity, compassion, and acceptance that shape communities.

Starbucks has committed to a minimum $250,000 contribution to Born This Way Foundation.

  • 25% of the purchase price of Love Bravery will benefit Born This Way Foundation and Elton John AIDS Foundation
  • The limited-edition line launches this spring as part of Macy’s American Icons campaign

NEW YORK, 2016-May-02 — /EPR Retail News/ — Macy’s has partnered with Grammy® and Golden Globe®-winning icon Lady Gaga, as well as Grammy, Tony® and Academy Award®-winning legend Sir Elton John to create Love Bravery, a high-spirited, limited-edition line of clothing and accessories that inspire compassion and combat prejudice. Available as part of Macy’s American Icons campaign, Love Bravery spans several categories, including shirts, sweats, outerwear, clutches, backpacks, scarves, beanies, keychains, pins, and even speakers, water bottles and skateboards, all rendered in vibrant graphic prints and designs that fuse both artists’ renowned musical talent and revered inimitable style.

“It’s an honor to team up with Sir Elton Johnto create this line with Macy’s,” said Lady Gaga. “We need to make the world a kinder and braver place where men and women everywhere are empowered to live with compassion. That’s what Born This Way Foundation is all about, that’s what the Elton John AIDS Foundation is all about, and that’s what Love Bravery is all about.”

“I love the idea of fusing who you are on the inside – your passions and dreams – with what you wear on the outside,” said Sir Elton John. “Love Bravery is about the compassion on the inside to understand someone’s fears, and the bravery on the outside to stand up for them, and for yourself: to accept others for who they are and to be who you want to be. It’s what I’ve tried to do in my life, my career and with the Elton John AIDS Foundation, and it’s a passion Lady Gaga and I share. So I’m thrilled we are collaborating on this project and delighted Macy’s understood our dream to connect with people this way.”

Created in collaboration with Lady Gaga’s sister, Natali Germanotta, and designerBrandon Maxwell, the limited line boasts fresh crop tops and sleeveless tees in stark black-and-white, while heather sweatshirts with tonal graphics and tops with metallic lettering are edgy updates to the athleisure trend. Oversized scarves with piano key prints and artistic interpretations of Lady Gaga’s face are stylishly offbeat, and neoprene backpacks that say “LOVE” and also have piano key prints are super cool must-haves. With enamel pins and patches in the shape of moto jackets, electric guitars, microphones, platform shoes and Lady Gaga’s infamous claw, the options to show off your inner little monster are endless. Clutches in the shape of sunglasses, pianos and hearts are unapologetically fun and sassy.

“In addition to being deeply talented musical artists, Lady Gaga and Sir Elton John are champions of self-love, courage, empathy and kindness, and Love Bravery represents all of those tenets,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “We are so proud to present a line that is not only fun and bold, but also stands for something so meaningful and important. The work they do through Born This Way Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation is invaluable and truly changes lives, and Macy’s is honored to partner with them to spread the message of love and acceptance.”

Born This Way Foundation is committed to supporting the wellness of young people and empowering them to create a kinder and braver world by shining a light on real people, supporting quality research, and fostering meaningful partnerships focused on social emotional learning (SEL) and mental health awareness and resources. The Elton John AIDS Foundation raises much-needed funds for evidence-based programs that give people the information and tools to protect and care for themselves and those they love – challenging stigma, reducing the spread of HIV and preventing people from getting sick or dying of AIDS.

The foundations brought together a diverse array of young people to showcase the Love Bravery apparel and will be sharing content from that campaign this spring. The limited-edition line with Macy’s is the first in a series of activations which are planned for the coming months to make people feel proud of who they are.

Love Bravery will be sold exclusively at Macy’s this spring, with 25 percent of the purchase price benefitting Born This Way Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation, and will be available globally later this year. All donations from the limited-edition line, on sale through Aug. 30, 2016, will be made to Born This Way Foundation, which will use 50 percent to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

About Elton John AIDS Foundation

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) is dedicated to reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS through innovative HIV prevention programs, eliminating the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS and supporting direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Sir Elton John created EJAF over twenty years ago, first in the United States in 1992 and then in the United Kingdomin 1993. Since then, the two organizations have raised nearly £220m (over $350m) and reached over 150 million people across four continents. We work with local, national and international organizations to provide non-discriminatory HIV information, testing and treatment services that stop people becoming infected with HIV or getting sick and dying of AIDS. This has meant funding some 1,500 programs including providing HIV tests to over 20 million people, and treatment prevention for more than 800,000 pregnant woman living with HIV so that they could protect their babies from the HIV virus. The Foundation also prioritizes those who are highly vulnerable to HIV and the stigma that surrounds it in many parts of the world such as men who engage in male-to-male sex, people who use drugs and people who sell sex. Our work with Love Bravery will go towards prevention and treatment programs for adolescents living with HIV. AIDS is the second leading cause of death for 10-19 year olds worldwide.
