eBay welcomes Cathy Foster as Vice President, Government Relations & Public Policy

 

She brings with her more than 20 years of public policy, regulatory and communications experience.

San Jose, California, 2017-May-23 — /EPR Retail News/ — Cathy Foster, a seasoned government affairs and public policy leader, will join eBay as Vice President, Government Relations & Public Policy. In this role she will lead the Global Government Relations function and lead eBay’s legislative, policy, antitrust and government affairs work. She will also be responsible for maintaining important relationships with government officials and other stakeholders around the world. She will report to Marie Oh Huber, SVP Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary at eBay.

Cathy has more than 20 years of public policy, regulatory and communications experience. She joins eBay from Apple Inc., where most recently she was the head of Corporate Government Affairs.  During her long tenure at Apple, she was responsible for building the Global Government Affairs function under founder Steve Jobs. During her career, Cathy served as an Associate Director of the Office of Political Affairs in the White House and worked on George H.W. Bush’s presidential campaign.

eBay appoints Tekedra Mawakana as its new vice president of Government Relations

San Jose, California, 2016-Jan-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — Tekedra Mawakana, an experienced public policy leader has joined eBay as its new vice president of Government Relations.  She will lead legislative, policy, antitrust and government affairs for eBay forging relationships with government officials and other stakeholders around the world.

With nearly 20 years of experience, Tekedra was previously global head of Public Policy at Yahoo! where she led Yahoo!’s efforts around  human rights, freedom of expression, net neutrality, data privacy, cybersecurity and other critical digital challenges. She has also previously held a number of legal and policy roles at AOL Inc. Tekedra will report to Marie Oh Huber.

eBay General Counsel Marie Oh Huber named one of the 2015 Women Leaders in Tech Law by The Recorder

An influential legal journal names her among 2015 Women Leaders in Tech Law.

San Jose, California, 2015-9-30 — /EPR Retail News/ — eBay General Counsel Marie Oh Huber has been named one of the 2015 Women Leaders in Tech Law by The Recorder.

In a Q&A with the influential Silicon Valley legal publication, Marie – who has worked throughout her career to promote diversity – spoke about what needs to be done to tackle the gender gap in technology.

“Relentlessly work at every level to encourage and promote talented women, from entry-level to corporate boardrooms. Make it about the business imperative and have men, in addition to women, drive closing the gap.”

She said that the most valuable career advice she ever received was to “be fearless and authentic.”

Marie, who joined eBay this year, added that what she likes most about working in technology is the “pace of innovation, and the constant challenge it brings”.

She brought to her role at eBay more than 20 years’ experience counseling tech companies, having previously worked for Agilent Technologies where she was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary since 2009. Previously she was Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary from 2000 to 2009.

Prior to Agilent, Huber was an M&A and corporate lawyer at Hewlett-Packard from 1990 to 1999. She started her career before HP at large law firms in New York and San Francisco.

She is a strong champion for diversity and inclusion, paying it forward, and giving back to the community. She serves on the boards of the James Campbell Company LLC and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. She has received a Women’s Legal Defense and Education Fund’s 2015 Women of Achievement Award, a 2014 National Diversity Council’s Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology distinction, and an Inside Counsel Transformative Leadership Award in 2013.
