Chick-fil-A announces recipients of 2017 True Inspiration Awards

Chick-fil-A One app users help select True Inspiration Award winners

ATLANTA, 2016-Nov-12 — /EPR Retail News/ — Chick-fil-A customers nationwide helped select the recipients of more than $1.1 million in grants, thanks to the new Chick-fil-A One app. The 2017 True Inspiration Awards – announced today by the Chick-fil-A Foundation – honor and provide financial support to 22 not-for-profits in 16 states to help further their work with youth, fostering leadership skills and developing an entrepreneurial spirit.

For the first time since the awards program began in 2014, Chick-fil-A utilized its new mobile app to allow customers to vote for organizations in their local communities. More than 76,000 customers nationwide voted, helping select 12 of the winning organizations nationwide, from Boy’s Republic in Chino Hills, California to Lexington Leadership Foundation in Lexington, Kentucky.

This is the third year the Chick-fil-A Foundation has granted the True Inspiration Awards, which were created to honor the legacy of Chick-fil-A’s late founder, S. Truett Cathy. Organizations can either apply for the grants, ranging from $15,000 to $100,000, or receive a nomination from a local Chick-fil-A restaurant franchisee. More than 150 organizations applied for grants this year.

“These organizations are doing remarkable work in education, leadership development and youth entrepreneurship, so we are thrilled to be able to help support their goals for 2017,” said Rodney Bullard, vice president of community affairs for Chick-fil-A and executive director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation. He added, “The Chick-fil-A Foundation’s mission is to ‘enable children to be all they were created to be,’ and these organizations have helped make that mission a reality. Chick-fil-A and The Chick-fil-A Foundation are committed to strengthening the communities in which we live.”

Before opening voting to customers, the Chick-fil-A Foundation reviewed the applications and selected a list of finalists that demonstrate a commitment to supporting youth and education. The 22 award winners will be honored at a celebratory event in Atlanta next year, and funding will be available to them before the end of 2016.

“Mobile technology is changing corporate giving, allowing us to literally put the decision in the hands of our local customers who are impacted by these incredible organizations,” said Michael Lage, senior manager of Chick-fil-A’s digital experience.

Chick-fil-A® thanks Chick-fil-A One™ mobile app users with free breakfast reward this month

ATLANTA , 2016-Sep-05 — /EPR Retail News/ — To thank users for making the new Chick-fil-A One™ mobile app one of the top downloaded apps following its June launch and help ease customers into the ”back to school” season, Chick-fil-A® is offering app users a free breakfast reward this month. Through Sept. 10, Chick-fil-A customers who already have a Chick-fil-A One account or download the app and create a new account will receive a free breakfast item. Options available are a Chicken Biscuit, three-count Chick-n-Minis or Chick-fil-A’s new grilled chicken breakfast sandwich, the Egg White Grill. Guests will have until Sept. 30 to redeem the offer.

“We know our customers are busy, and life gets even busier for families when kids head back to school,” said Michael Lage, senior manager of digital experience for Chick-fil-A. “Chick-fil-A One is all about making our customers’ experience even faster, more convenient and more personal than ever before. The best part is that through Chick-fil-A One, we’re able to say ‘thank you’ by surprising guests with their choice of a free breakfast when they’re in a hurry, and they can choose from one of our classic menu favorites like a Chicken Biscuit, or try something new on us.”

According to a recent survey, more than three-quarters of millennial parents (77 percent), including more than four-fifths of dads (82 percent), said they are often on the run.[1]  Three in five millennial parents (60 percent) said if they had an extra 15 minutes in a day, they would spend that time with family.

“Chick-fil-A One allows busy customers to get some time back in their day, by allowing them to customize and place a mobile order before arriving at the restaurant, then bypass the line inside the restaurant to pick up the order,” said Lage.

Chick-fil-A One launched on June 1, 2016, and was downloaded more than two million times in the first three days, ranking it as the No. 1 free app in the Apple App Store during that time, ahead of Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook. As of July 2, Chick-fil-A One had reached more than five million downloads.

Starting this month, Chick-fil-A is now offering a few new ways to pay electronically. Customers may wirelessly tap and pay from their phones to use Apple Pay, Android Pay or Samsung Pay independent of the Chick-fil-A One app. Within the app, Apple Pay and Android Pay can be used to add funds to a Chick-fil-A One Card.

Chick-fil-A launched the first version of its app in 2012. The company began piloting mobile ordering in 2013. All Chick-fil-A One users also have access to nutrition and allergen information and a restaurant locator.

Chick-fil-A® launches mobile app Chick-fil-A One TM

App gives customers a new way to order, ability to customize meals and chance to redeem and select surprise offers

ATLANTA, Ga., 2016-Jun-06 — /EPR Retail News/ —  Today (June 1, 2016), Chick-fil-A® launches Chick-fil-A One TM – a mobile app that gives customers a new way to experience Chick-fil-A. The app is designed to give customers more choices to better meet their needs, including the ability to customize their meal, order and pay in advance and skip the line at the register, speeding up the process of waiting at the counter or drive-thru.

According to a recent survey commissioned by Chick-fil-A, 82 percent of millennial parents say they would do almost anything to avoid long lines at fast food restaurants when they are with their children. In fact, nearly half (48 percent) said they would rather not eat at all than stand in a line.

“We know time is valuable, and we’re excited to offer this new convenience that will empower guests to order what they want, when they want it and exactly how they want it, all from their mobile device,” said Michael Lage, senior manager of digital experience for Chick-fil-A. “This app was developed based on customer feedback, so it was specifically designed to give our guests an even more convenient and personalized experience in our restaurant.”

Chick-fil-A One, which replaces the restaurant chain’s previous app, features a unique membership program that will surprise customers with their favorite food for free, based on their preferences and previous orders.  As users order or purchase through Chick-fil-A One, they get closer to their next free offering and can track their progress in the app.

Any customer who downloads (or updates) the free app and creates a Chick-fil-A One account between June 1 and June 11 will receive an offer for a free Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich or Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Once the offer is claimed, guests will have until June 30 to redeem their free sandwich.

Chick-fil-A One is available via the Apple App Store or Google Play, or simply by tweeting through an activation that was custom-built by Twitter for Chick-fil-A. From June 1 through August 14, customers can Tweet #CFAOne with the horizontal cow emoji (🐄) to receive a prompt to download the app from Twitter directly to their mobile device. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 13.

A key feature of Chick-fil-A One, mobile ordering, allows customers to place a fully-customized order based on his or her meal preferences. Menu items may be customized via the app, and food is prepared when customers “check in” at the restaurant on the app. The check-in signals the kitchen to prepare the meal and ensures guests receive fresh food quickly and on their schedule. Customers can pay through the app and then skip the line to pick up their food at the mobile order counter, saving time for guests on-the-go. Chick-fil-A One will also save favorite orders for easy reordering in the future.

Chick-fil-A launched the first version of its app in 2012. The company began piloting mobile ordering in 2013. All Chick-fil-A One users also have full access to the app’s other features, including nutrition and allergen information and a restaurant locator.
