Schnuck Markets and Volpi Foods open new “Store-within-a-Store” concept at the Schnucks Des Peres, Mo. location

ST. LOUIS, 2017-Nov-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — Today (11.10.2017), Schnuck Markets, Inc. and Volpi Foods Inc. announced the opening of a new prototype “Store-within-a-Store” concept at the Schnucks Des Peres, Mo. location. This location will provide Schnucks customers the ability to conveniently purchase freshly sliced artisan cured meats produced by Volpi Foods as well as offer a unique opportunity to experience the heritage and craftsmanship of a legendary St. Louis specialty producer.

To celebrate the new test concept, Schnucks and Volpi will host a ribbon cutting and kickoff party at the flagship Schnucks Des Peres store (12332 Manchester Road, 63131) Friday, Nov. 17 from 4 – 6 p.m.

The new concept will be located near the store’s Deli department.

Schnuck Markets to move operations of its Cool Valley, Mo store to the nearby community of Ferguson

FERGUSON, Mo., 2017-Jan-23 — /EPR Retail News/ — Schnuck Markets, Inc. today (01.20.2017) announced that it will move operations of its Cool Valley, Mo store to the nearby community of Ferguson, Mo. once the building at 49 N. Florissant Road is vacated by Shop ‘n Save.

Schnucks is the sub-landlord/tenant of the Ferguson building and was recently notified by representatives of sub-tenant Shop ‘n Save that they plan to exit the location when the current sublease expires on March 31, 2017. Schnucks plans to complete the move in early April.

According to Schnucks Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck, Schnucks hopes to better serve North County residents at the new location. “Relocating to the Ferguson location will allow us to bring our unique combination of quality, service, selection and value to more customers in the area,” Schnuck said. “We welcome the present Shop ‘n Save customers and believe our Cool Valley customers will follow us one mile north on Florissant road.”

To minimize any inconvenience to current pharmacy patients, Schnucks also has agreed to purchase the pharmacy files of the Ferguson Shop ‘n Save effective Jan. 27. Between then and the time Schnucks moves to the new location, pharmacy customers can get their prescriptions filled at the Cool Valley Schnucks Pharmacy or any other nearby Schnucks Pharmacy. Once the move is complete, all pharmacy files from the Cool Valley Schnucks will transfer to the new location.

The Ferguson site is just over one mile away from the Cool Valley Schnucks located at 1225 South Florissant Road. Schnucks has served the Cool Valley community since 1964 and at its present location since 1991. In total, Schnucks operates eight stores in the North St. Louis County area employing more than 900 teammates.

Schnuck Markets, Inc. to open second Schnucks store to serve the residents of Peoria and the surrounding area

PEORIA, Ill., 2015-12-28 — /EPR Retail News/ — St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets, Inc. is pleased to announce plans for a second Schnucks store to serve the residents of Peoria and the surrounding area. The new 70,000-square foot, full-service grocery and pharmacy will be built at the northwest corner of Knoxville and Alta Roads in north Peoria.

David Fontana, Schnucks vice president of real estate, says the new store will employ approximately 150 teammates, anchoring a shopping center with additional retail space and outparcels available.

“We are pleased to be able to serve even more residents in the Peoria area,” Fontana said. “We have a great customer base at our University Street store and look forward to bringing our unique combination of quality products, service, value and variety to customers at our new north Peoria location.”

In addition to Schnucks “Savings Salute” which guarantees low prices on everyday grocery items as well as exciting weekly ad prices, this location will feature service meat and seafood departments with a sushi bar, a service deli with sliced-to-order specialties including Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, a floral department, a fresh bakery, specialty cheese section and extensive prepared foods in addition to traditional grocery departments. Schnucks full-service pharmacy expedites prescription pick-up with a convenient drive-through window.

Council member Casey Johnson from Peoria’s 5th District said, “I’m thrilled that Schnucks has decided to expand to further service the overwhelming swell of new residents on the north side of Peoria. The combination of services and employment will be a welcome addition to this growing area.”

Construction on the site begins in spring 2016 with the store and pharmacy scheduled to open prior to the 2016 holiday season.

The current Peoria Schnucks store, located at 4800 University Street, opened in November 1999. Earlier that same year, Schnucks opened its nearby Pekin location when the company bought Mr. K’s Super Saver.

Schnuck Markets recalls fresh ground beef and ground pork sold on Nov. 14 and 15 in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, Mo., 2015-11-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — Schnuck Markets, Inc. has voluntarily recalled fresh ground beef and ground pork sold on Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 15 at its Chesterfield location at 141 Hilltown Village (63017). The recall was launched after a customer returned product containing pieces of a tray packaging pad.

Any Chesterfield Schnucks customer who purchased fresh ground beef or pork on Saturday, Nov.14 or Sunday, Nov. 15 may return the product for a full refund or exchange.

This is an isolated incident and no other stores are affected.
