SOCAR Energy Switzerland orders hardware, software and services from Wincor Nixdorf for its 149 Swiss service stations

Zurich-based SOCAR Energy Switzerland GmbH has ordered hardware, software and services from Wincor Nixdorf for its 149 Swiss service stations. In Switzerland, SOCAR runs tanker truck, fuel tank, oil, gas and aviation fuel operations alongside its service stations. The solutions from Wincor Nixdorf are intended to provide a real customer experience at service stations and to improve processes on the forecourt and payment processes in the store.

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-Jul-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — In detail, Wincor Nixdorf will be installing 200 Beetle/M III point-of-sale systems, the NAMOS software and 149 Fusion 6000 forecourt controllers at SOCAR’s service stations.

In addition to the hardware and software, the contract covers rollout and training, first, second, and third-level services, and all the field service. The redesigned checkout zone in particular features an innovative rotatable monitor connected to the POS system. This allows the cashier to switch from attended mode to the self-service NAMOS user interface so that customers can use a credit or debit card to complete purchases on a self-checkout basis as an alternative. The 66 service stations currently operated by SOCAR itself will additionally be equipped with Wincor Nixdorf’s CINEO 6010 cash management system, which ensures greater security at the POS for cashiers as well as for cash holdings during the night.

“We have chosen Wincor Nixdorf as a strategic partner because it is an innovative solution provider that operates beyond the classic petroleum business, bringing technologies and trends from its leadership in the general retail sector to our service stations and thus meeting SOCAR’s requirements as a premium brand. Wincor Nixdorf’s POS systems, cash management components and exceptionally forecourt expertise will play an important role in making SOCAR stand out in the market,” says Edgar Bachmann, CEO of SOCAR Energy Switzerland.

“We are very pleased at SOCAR’s confidence in us and our solutions, which will contribute in particular to fast, easy, and secure payment transactions at service stations. SOCAR can count on a solution platform that not only meets today’s market requirements but also those of the future,” Horst von Wels, Vice President and Head of Service Stations International (SSI) at Wincor Nixdorf, points out.

Wincor Nixdorf is a leading vendor of IT solutions and systems for retail banks, retailers and service stations, and its Service Stations International unit is ideally positioned to cover end-to-end processes for service station operations with its ecosystem consisting of the NAMOS software and services suite and the BEETLE POS system family. All the important functions for an entire service station are provided on a standardized global platform. This solution is appealing to global, regional and national oil companies, brand dealers, service stations with a high level of customer traffic, fleet operators and independent service stations alike.

About SOCAR
SOCAR Energy Switzerland GmbH has a workforce of 800 employees at its head office in Zurich and at other fully owned subsidiaries. After the SOCAR group acquired all shares in Esso Schweiz GmbH, and consequently its network of service stations, the first station to bear the SOCAR livery featuring the national colors of Azerbaijan took up operations on September 12, 2012 in Zurich. This was the first step in the gradual replacement of the Esso brand in Switzerland by SOCAR. The change of brand was practically completed in the second quarter of 2014. SOCAR now stands for high-quality products and first-class services in Switzerland, and is setting new standards in the local service station and energy market. The management of SOCAR Energy Switzerland under its Swiss CEO Edgar Bachmann has decades of international experience.

Wincor Nixdorf to take over the services of ameria GmbH’s Virtual Promoter, a digital shop window solution for brick-and-mortar retail businesses

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-Jul-07 — /EPR Retail News/ — The technology company ameria GmbH, which focuses on software and technology development, has commissioned Wincor Nixdorf to take over the services for Virtual Promoter, a digital shop window solution for brick-and-mortar retail businesses. Wincor Nixdorf will be responsible for setup, startup and maintenance of the systems that are installed at ameria’s retail and industry customers around the world.

Virtual Promoter is an interactive, gesture-controlled shop window that revolutionizes the shopping experience at the stationary point of sale and is the connecting link between offline and online retailing. Its hardware consists of an interactive screen, two induction loudspeakers, a projection tower with two projectors, technology to control images, sound and online systems as well as a sensor for gesture control. The solution is designed and controlled centrally with the help of cloud software that both ameria and its customers can operate with standard IT programs. Thanks to the hardware and a projection film that is affixed to the window inside the retail store, an interactive image of a virtual person appears in the shop window, with the induction loudspeakers providing sound outside the store.

Virtual Promoter addresses passersby directly and thus attracts attention. People in front of the window interact with the virtual person via gesture control. The window pane can be used to present products and services, and the contents can be easily changed via the cloud. With their personal smartphone, passersby can order goods or reserve them in the store using a QR code or an app that leads them to the online shop. The digital shop window therefore serves as an extended shop floor that is ‘open’ around the clock. In addition, Virtual Promoter collects data about general traffic in front of the shop window as well as interaction rates and the time devoted to individual products.

“This order has demonstrated that our service portfolio also allows us to be successful in industries that are not among our traditional customers. In general, we want to use the service know-how from our banking and retail business to increasingly tap business potential in other industries in future,” says Wolfgang Künkler, who is responsible for Wincor Nixdorf’s business with product-related IT services.

About ameria
ameria digitizes the shopping experience at the stationary point of sale. Based on its technologies and the experience it has gathered in a large number of projects, the company from Heidelberg, Germany, provides integrated solutions from consulting and implementation all the way to the development of contents. With international customers from industry, retail and the service sector, ameria is driving the digital transformation forward. The flagship in its portfolio is Virtual Promoter, an interactive, gesture-controlled shop window that measurably increases attention, store traffic and revenues.

Wincor Nixdorf once again honoured with Top Retail Supplier award

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-Jun-15 — /EPR Retail News/ — Having won the Top Retail Supplier award in 2015, Wincor Nixdorf has won it again this year. This award is conferred on IT companies that offer retailers an overall package of excellent solutions, and is run by Frankfurt-based Lebensmittelzeitung, a newspaper for the grocery segment, and by Cologne-based EHI Retail Institute.

The Top Retail Supplier award goes, in particular, to those IT service providers who have excelled at the “retail technology awards europe”. For nine years now, these awards have been conferred by EHI for outstanding IT projects in the retail sector. The Polish subsidiary of McDonald’s, the US fast food group, won in the Best Instore Solution category this year. Together with Wincor Nixdorf as its IT partner, McDonald’s has developed an interactive kiosk terminal at which guests can choose their meals and pay by card. The food is then served directly at the table. This minimizes service times and creates a new service experience. McDonald’s Poland is the first of the company’s European subsidiaries to introduce this IT-based Create Your Taste solution for its customers.

Another award went to Coop Switzerland at “retail technology awards europe” – also in the Best Instore Solution category. As part of its service, this cooperative company offers its customers various scanning and checkout options. In many supermarkets and megastores, customers can scan items using either the hand-held scanners provided at the entrance or their own smartphones. On top of that, Coop customers have the choice between attended and self-service checkouts. As an IT partner of Coop Switzerland, Wincor Nixdorf has provided self-checkout systems that are tailored to Coop’s specific requirements.

theLast year, awards were already conferred on companies cooperating with Wincor Nixdorf – for instance Kiabi, the French fashion retailer, and Lunar GmbH, the IT subsidiary of Edeka, which is the largest grocery chain in Germany. These two companies have also implemented pioneering technology projects in conjunction with Wincor Nixdorf. As a result, Wincor Nixdorf is the record award winner at the “retail technology awards europe”.

Daniel Ochs, Head of Sales at Lebensmittelzeitung, presented the Top Retail Supplier 2016 award to Thomas Fell, who is the member of Wincor Nixdorf’s Executive Board in charge of global IT business with retailers, in May 2016. “We are very pleased to receive this award again and view it as a confirmation of our work to date. At the same time, it represents a challenge to continue providing retail businesses around the world with innovative, intelligent, useful solutions for streamlining business processes and optimizing customer service concepts,” said Thomas Fell during the award ceremony at Wincor Nixdorf’s head office in Paderborn, Germany.

Wincor Nixdorf to equip all 59 stores of Dutch supermarket chain Jan Linders with new POS systems starting early 2017

Wincor Nixdorf to provide hardware, software and services

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-May-25 — /EPR Retail News/ — Following a test installation, which is due to begin in August 2016, Wincor Nixdorf will equip all 59 stores of Dutch supermarket chain Jan Linders with new POS systems starting early 2017. The partners signed a corresponding agreement in March this year.

Prior to signing, Jan Linders thoroughly investigated Wincor Nixdorf’s POS solution portfolio, for example by visiting German food retailer tegut, which belongs to the Swiss Migros Group and also relies on Wincor Nixdorf for its POS systems. This exchange of experiences as well as Wincor Nixdorf’s outstanding expertise and many installations, particularly in the Benelux countries, were the deciding factors for the order. “It was also extremely important to us that Wincor Nixdorf was able to offer a complete solution of hardware, software and services from a single source,” says Marcel Gommans, ICT Manager at Jan Linders.

Wincor Nixdorf will deliver and install the hardware for the supermarket chain’s approximately 350 checkouts, consisting of BEETLE/ M-III POS systems and TH 230 POS printers as well as touch displays and scanners. The BEETLE/ M-III is equipped with Intel’s fourth generation of core processors (Haswell technology). Through the processors’ performance, coupled with high-speed main memory modules, users can clearly feel just how powerful the overall system actually is. The systems will be controlled by TP.net, Wincor Nixdorf’s internationally proven store and POS software. “The application impresses on two fronts: its extensive feature richness as well as its modularity, which means that it can be easily adapted to individual requirements,” says Marcel Gommans. TPAdmin, a software module that can be used to manage the entire store network, will also be installed at Jan Linders. In addition, the TPAnalyze application will provide Jan Linders with simple, cost-efficient control over customer touchpoints, marketing campaigns and POS terminals. TPAnalyze thus gives decision-makers a solution-oriented view of the business performance in real time – as a basis for optimizing marketing strategies.

The agreement with Jan Linders also stipulates that Wincor Nixdorf will provide all services for an initial period of three years to ensure permanent availability of all POS systems.

About Jan Linders
Jan Linders is an independent chain of supermarkets with 59 shops in the southeast of the Netherlands. Jan Linders has nearly 4,000 employees, a regional focus and is known for its customer service and affordable products. The supermarket chain was awarded best fresh supermarket in the Netherlands for the sixth consecutive year (Customer Satisfaction Survey GfK September ’15). For 12 years in a row the bread and pastry department has been awarded with the first prize and for the last three years, the chain can call itself the Best Beer Specialist Supermarket in the Netherlands.

HPE Growth Capital to acquire minority stake in Wincor Nixdorf subsidiary AEVI

In the context of a capital increase worth up to EUR 30 million, HPE Growth Capital is acquiring a minority stake in AEVI, a subsidiary of Wincor Nixdorf AG, with retroactive effect from October 1, 2015. AEVI intends to use the extra capital to accelerate its successful growth trend in the market for cashless payments.

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-May-11 — /EPR Retail News/ — AEVI had been carved out of the Wincor Nixdorf group at the start of the financial year (October 1) in a move which saw it position itself as an independent company with the aim of becoming a global leader in the dynamic market for cashless payment solutions. Prior to becoming an autonomous operation, AEVI had generated annual revenue of around EUR 50 million.

The capital increase is to be used primarily to further accelerate AEVI’s strong growth and to expand its global presence. “With HPE, we are delighted to have found an investor for AEVI that has a wealth of expertise in global payments. We are convinced that AEVI will profit from its shareholders Wincor Nixdorf, a global leader in cash-related payments, and HPE. We want to promote internationalization, intensify our sales and marketing activities, and invest in other innovations in payments and the B2B apps marketplace,” explained Eckard Heidloff, President and CEO of Wincor Nixdorf.

Tim van Delden, Partner & Chief Investment Officer of HPE commented as follows: “AEVI has the clear potential to become a game-changer in the area of global face-to-face payments. Its innovative payments platform combined with the B2B apps marketplace is helping to resolve current inefficiencies in this market.”

In an initial tranche, a capital increase of EUR 20 million was facilitated; however, HPE and its investors have the option of purchasing further shares in AEVI in a second tranche worth up to EUR 10 million. Wincor Nixdorf intends to retain a majority holding in AEVI in the long term, too.

Support in the investment process was provided exclusively by Berenberg Bank.

About AEVI
AEVI has developed a unique open ECO system to bring merchant banks / merchant acquirers closer to their merchants, and merchants closer to their consumers. It provides a global gateway for payment transactions together with a marketplace for high quality value added apps and services (VAAS) providing new business opportunities beyond payments. This enables fast and effective innovation, plus enhanced control and flexibility. This combination delivers a reduced total cost of ownership for our clients.
We work with our customers to help them embrace collaboration and adopt open solutions that have the power to deliver more value and better meet the needs of today’s consumer.
In short we enable businesses to DO MORE.

Wincor Nixdorf and HESS Cash Systems partner to enhance Wincor Nixdorf’s portfolio of self-service products with coin components from HESS

Enhanced range of solutions for cash handling with coin components

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-May-11 — /EPR Retail News/ — Wincor Nixdorf and HESS Cash Systems, a subsidiary of Gauselmann Group and one of the leading coin process automation vendors, have agreed on a strategic cooperation. The goal is to enhance Wincor Nixdorf’s portfolio of self-service products with coin components from HESS, allowing banks and retailers to obtain an even more comprehensive range of cash process solutions from a single source. In return, HESS is extending and complementing its coin processing expertise as a technology vendor by taking over the employees of Wincor Nixdorf’s coin competence center in Linz/Austria. In addition, Wincor Nixdorf is outsourcing the production of coin deposit and coin recycling systems to HESS.

The launch of this cooperation is part of the implementation of Delta, Wincor Nixdorf’s strategic restructuring program. Among other things, this program involves a thorough readjustment of the hardware strategy. The goal here would be to enter into development partnerships and procure niche technologies on an OEM basis in order to reduce costs and drive the Group’s shift toward software and services.

Coin processing is a major challenge for retail banks and retail companies alike. Despite the growth of card payments, the volume of banknotes and coins in circulation is still rising. For example, the European Central Bank has stated that the value of euro coins in circulation in the eurozone in the period from 2002 to 2015 increased from 12.4 billion to 25.4 billion euros.

HESS Cash Systems and Wincor Nixdorf have already cooperated successfully for many years in the marketing of coin deposit systems and coin roll dispensing systems. Wincor Nixdorf integrates components for automated coin processing in its solutions both for banks and for retailers. At multifunction self-service systems, bank clients can pay in larger sums of coins and have coins dispensed. In the retail sector, self-checkout systems can also be equipped with modules that accept coins and pay them out as change.

Eckard Heidloff, President & CEO of Wincor Nixdorf AG, explained: “HESS Cash Systems’ long-standing experience in coin processing and Wincor Nixdorf’s considerable expertise in self-service systems form an outstanding basis for a successful partnership.”

In awarding the Red Dot for the innovative CINEO C2020 ATM, Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen has again recognized Wincor Nixdorf’s outstanding design skills. Wincor Nixdorf has received numerous distinctions in previous years for the design of its automated teller machines, cash recycling systems, and self-service terminals.

This time, the award went to an ATM that has been designed mainly with digital natives in mind. At the CINEO C2020, smartphone users can initiate cash withdrawals via an app that features the branding of the bank they use. The advantages of this new system are that cash is dispensed quickly in a convenient and secure way and that it can also be dispensed to third parties. For banks, certification and integration of the new systems in their existing networks is extremely simple since the CINEO C2020 uses standard software technology.

Banks everywhere are responding to digitalization by integrating mobile technologies into all their customer channels. When banks enable cash withdrawals at their ATMs via smartphone, they present themselves as innovative financial institutions that keep up with today’s trends, and increase the likelihood that smartphone users among their customers will perceive them as attractive financial partners.

The smart ATM is operated via a mobile banking app that Wincor Nixdorf provides to banks. With this app, bank customers can already choose the account and the amount they want to withdraw while they are on their way to the ATM. They then receive a QR code, which they scan at the ATM’s QR code scanner to identify themselves. NFC technology is also available for authentication as an alternative to the QR code. When cash is withdrawn using an NFC card, bank customers enter their PINs using a special encrypting touch sensor.

In addition to its modern operating concept, this smart ATM benefits users with its fast, convenient and secure transaction processing. And since the system has a contactless reader and an encrypted touchscreen for PIN entry, the risks of card trapping and skimming attacks are eliminated.
This year, a record number of over 5,200 products from 57 nations were assessed in the Red Dot competition. The Red Dot jury consisted of independent designers, design professors and trade journalists.

RBR research: Wincor Nixdorf remains the market leader for multivendor ATM application software in Europe and Latin America

Top spot maintained in Europe and Latin America

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-Apr-18 — /EPR Retail News/ — Wincor Nixdorf remains the market leader for multivendor ATM application software in Europe and Latin America and has advanced to the top spot in North America since the last study in 2013 according to a study published by the British market research company RBR. Worldwide, the company is number two in software used to operate ATMs from third-party vendors (multivendor application software).

According to the study’s authors, who analyzed information from banks in 64 different countries, the market for ATM software is developing dynamically. Intelligent software enables banks to offer their customers a variety of services that are integrated perfectly into the bank’s omnichannel services and CRM systems. In addition, branch transformation projects often shift transactions to self-service systems. This requires greater system functionality and results in higher demands on the software the systems run. The introduction of individual user interfaces, personalized services and authentication via smart phone or contactless card are other trends that are contributing to the upswing in the software market. For banks, software that can run on devices from any vendor is an important precondition for successfully realizing all these objectives. Investment protection also plays an ever more important role.

RBR also determined that software is no longer routinely purchased with hardware. Instead, the use of multivendor software is continuing to expand, and banks are becoming more flexible in choosing their hardware. Wincor Nixdorf’s growth in the multivendor software business succeeded with products from its ProClassic family, including the ProCash and the ProFlex4.

Bank customers expect easy access to cash everywhere and all the time. As a result, the high availability of ATM networks has a high priority for financial institutions. For this reason, RBR examined the market for multivendor monitoring software separately and regards Wincor Nixdorf as the world market leader in this niche with its monitoring software, and as number one in Europe and Latin America.

Raiffeisenbank Straubing eG has selects Wincor Nixdorf to renew and modernize its branch network

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-Apr-09 — /EPR Retail News/ — In the course of its plans to renew and modernize its branch network, Raiffeisenbank Straubing eG has chosen Wincor Nixdorf to create the concept. Implementation of the new concept began in Salching, where Wincor Nixdorf’s Branch & Store Modernization unit has converted the bank’s branch from a classic setup to a service and advice center with two consulting rooms and a completely open area for clients. The branch was reopened in February 2016.

In Salching, Wincor Nixdorf has created a bright and spacious branch without a back office as such. The branch functions have been adjusted to support a new strategic focus. Instead of a typical counter with staff on one side, there is a counter that clients can use from all sides. The very open concept and the white, partially illuminated interior furnishings turn this branch into a place that makes customers and staff alike feel good. The consulting rooms are also bright, and have opaque glass panes to ensure greater privacy. Another eye-catcher is an illuminated indoor stone wall in a rural style.

“The redesigned branch has gone down really well with our clients. The premises provide a very pleasant and communicative atmosphere,” said Rainer Haas, CEO of Raiffeisenbank Straubing eG. Alexander Beeck, Senior Interior Designer at Wincor Nixdorf, pointed out that the innovative branch concept supports the transformation of banking in an ideal manner. “Together with Raiffeisenbank Straubing, we have optimized the bank’s functions.”

Wincor Nixdorf’s Branch & Store Modernization unit offers scalable solutions for branch and store modernization, ranging from integration of new systems at existing branches/stores or at off-premise locations and extending to complete redesign of existing ones. As part of an overall concept, it supports banks – from consulting, analysis of needs and concept creation, to implementation of a turnkey branch, including supervision of construction work. It thus takes charge of all planning services and coordinates implementation with the necessary partners.

BBVA upgrades its ATM network with Wincor Nixdorf’s CINEO cash recycling systems

More than 800 new systems to be installed during 2016

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-Mar-11 — /EPR Retail News/ — BBVA is upgrading its ATM network with Wincor Nixdorf’s CINEO cash recycling systems to enable banknotes deposited by customers to be reused for cash withdrawals. The bank is a pioneer in Spain with this solution, which helps provide customers with a better service via their preferred channel. Furthermore, BBVA has developed the user experience to enable customers to use ATMs more easily, quickly and conveniently.

BBVA’s new recycling ATMs are a real revolution in the sector. Until now, ATMs had two different slots for cash deposits and cash withdrawals although cash from the deposits slot could not be used for cash withdrawals. This restriction has been resolved and ATMs can now supply themselves, which will significantly reduce the time spent waiting for cash refills. To implement this project, BBVA worked with Wincor Nixdorf, which will roll out CINEO 4080 recycling machines at various different branches of the bank during 2016.

At the same time, software improvements have been made to all BBVA ATMs. This has all been achieved using agile methodology and focus groups to develop the functions customers consider the most relevant.

The new ATMs offer a wide range of functions that make them unique in the Spanish market. For example, when customers insert their card, they can see and access almost all of the products they have signed up for, not just the ones linked to that card. It should also be noted that banking services can be accessed in other ways apart from BBVA ATMs, in particular via mobile phone and the Internet.

ATMs, a window to the bank
Current accounts are displayed using the alias selected by the user, which means that the information is provided clearly, thus dispensing with the need to memorize IBAN numbers. As such, cards are just one tool for accessing the bank, but not the only one. BBVA also offers customers the option of identifying themselves using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Users can instantly access their products by simply touching a contactless card, and this will soon also be possible using mobile phones with this technology.

According to Manuel Crespo, Head of Digital Banking and Channel Technology at BBVA Spain: “Thanks to the changes made in BBVA ATMs, we are moving forward with our omnichannel strategy, making them another window to the bank, which our customers can use to work with their products, when, where and how they want.”

Javier López Bartolomé, President of the America & Iberia Region at Wincor Nixdorf, stated: “We are delighted to be working with BBVA to set up this new technology system, which puts the bank at the cutting edge of innovation.”

Intershop and Wincor Nixdorf partner to provide integration of leading e-commerce and POS solutions for retailers

  • Cooperation with focus on comprehensive omni-channel offering
  • Deep technical integration of leading e-commerce and POS solutions sets standards for retailers

Jena, Germany, 2016-Mar-09 — /EPR Retail News/ — Intershop and Wincor Nixdorf today announce a partnership that will provide retailers a powerful set of tools helping them respond efficiently to the ever changing demands of their customers.

Ordering or reserving online and picking up the item in store is a common way of shopping today. Just as often customers order a product online when actually being in a brick and mortar store, e.g. if they have found the right product, but would prefer it in another color or size or wish to have it delivered to their homes.

What sounds easy to the customer requires complex processes, e.g. in terms of data management, logistics and payment for businesses. Intershop and Wincor Nixdorf have now initiated a product partnership that will address such challenges via a standard integration of e-commerce platforms and complex POS solutions. Customer data collected from online or offline shopping history, loyalty programs, or in-store search can then be combined for targeted cross and upselling offers at the point of sale. Leveraging the potentials of in-store and online sales channels, retailers then can efficiently offer their customers a truly seamless customer journey across all channels. At the same time they profit from higher conversions, increased sales, lower return rates, and higher customer loyalty.

Lars Wiesner, Vice President of Retail Software at Wincor Nixdorf, says: “With this partnership we enhance once more the openness and flexibility of our TP Application Suite. The integration will provide consumers a unique seamless customer journey experience independent of the channel used. We believe this partnership is an important step in supporting retailers in their operational challenges today and in the future”.

Udo Rauch, VP Sales EMEA and VP Channel at Intershop, explains: “This partnership brings together decades of expertise setting standards for retailers. It does not only offer better customer service, preferred delivery or payment options, but also comes with a wealth of additional personalized marketing and sales possibilities. We are confident that this partnership will shape the way people shop in the years to come”.

Wincor Nixdorf to provide 600 ATMs and maintenance to Algérie Poste for 10 years

Paderborn, Germany, 2016-Feb-29 — /EPR Retail News/ — With some 18 million customers, Algérie Poste is the market leader for financial services in the North African country of Algeria. The postal company has now concluded a contract with Wincor Nixdorf comprising the delivery of 600 ATMs and maintenance for a period of 10 years.

Installation of the 600 new ProCash 285 ATM systems will be carried out over the next 18 months. Currently, some 2,000 ATMs are in use throughout Algeria, with the majority operated by the post office. These new systems mean the state-run postal company will expand its market leadership since with them it will operate around 80 percent of all ATMs in the country. “This new contract has helped Wincor Nixdorf significantly expand its previous market share of 52 percent in the Algerian ATM market,” says Ibn Eddine Gherdis, Head of Banking Division at Wincor Nixdorf Algérie.

“As the market leader, we are also expected to exert technology leadership in our country,” points out Rachid Benazouz, who heads Electronic Payments and Postal Finance Services. “Digitalization is currently the number one objective at Algérie Poste,” he adds. That’s why the ATMs will not only offer basic functions such as cash withdrawals and balance inquiries but also options for direct marketing and cell phone top-ups.

About a quarter of the 600 new ATMs will be used to replace outdated systems; the rest are new additions. “We want to increase the proximity to our 18 million customers,” Benazouz says. “This broader ATM presence is part of the supply mandate we have to fulfill as a state-run company.” The new locations are mainly found in post office branches, but Algerians will also be able to use Algérie Poste ATMs at shopping centers, university campuses and large school facilities.

Only a few months ago, the company awarded Wincor Nixdorf an order to equip its service counters with peripherals.

Wincor Nixdorf to provide IT services to more than 15,000 of BP service stations

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-19 — /EPR Retail News/ — The international British oil company BP has awarded a major contract to Wincor Nixdorf for information technology services to be provided to more than 15,000 of its service stations. Wincor Nixdorf will ensure the smooth operation and continuous availability of the retail site systems hardware and software in the checkout zones of the service stations. The contract covers services for most of the countries around the world where BP has service station operations. Until now, the service has been provided locally by a number of different entities, sometimes by BP’s internal IT organizations, external companies or BP’s ow subsidiaries.

The term of this contract is five years. The agreement also covers the transfer of responsibility to Wincor Nixdorf for the internal service station support companies (Tankstellen Support GmbH, TSG) of BP Europa SE with headquarters in Cologne and Krakow. TSG’s areas of focus include operating and updating the software used to process payment transactions at BP service stations across Europe. The new operator is taking over Tankstellen Support GmbH along with all its contractual responsibilities, including employees at the Cologne and Krakow locations.

By selecting Wincor Nixdorf to be the new global IT service provider, BP plans to harmonize the current patchwork arrangement used to deliver, support and ensure availability of the IT infrastructure of service stations across its key retail markets. Wincor Nixdorf will standardize the underlying support processes provided to BP by leveraging its own global IT structures, tools and processes and, as a result, deliver a more cost-efficient service. Service station operators depend heavily on the round-the-clock availability of IT systems and the reliable service provided to their customers. Remote online monitoring of systems allows corrective measures to be taken even before a failure actually occurs. Where necessary, Wincor Nixdorf can respond rapidly to demand for on-site technical support thanks to the company’s tightly integrated network of local service engineers around the world. By deciding to use single-source IT services, BP will facilitate the use of the concept at new service stations

Wincor Nixdorf will gain from the significant extension of the relationship with BP as major customer in the service station sector. BP represents another major contract success for the IT specialist, a leading international provider of software, hardware and services for such customers as banks, retailers, service station operators, transporters and postal companies. Wincor Nixdorf has convinced another major international oil company of its value as a global service integrator. With its end-to-end concept, Wincor Nixdorf covers the entire service spectrum – from consultation, planning, implementation and testing to operation, maintenance and the help desk for customers’ service questions. The service portfolio is modular, which means that Wincor Nixdorf can flexibly react to market and business requirements and rapidly implement solutions for BP.

EuroCIS 2016: Wincor Nixdorf takes retail visitors to a virtual tour around a store

Wincor Nixdorf at EuroCIS 2016

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-17 — /EPR Retail News/ — At Wincor Nixdorf’s trade-fair stand, retail visitors can take a virtual tour around a store. Among other features, 3D visualization technology helps retailers assess how new IT systems and design changes fit into an existing store environment.

How might the new or modernized store look? Do the new POS system’s shape and color suit the overall design in the checkout zone? Which effects can be achieved by what design changes? How can visual efforts enhance the feel-good atmosphere and shopping experience for the customer? These and other questions can be answered with the help of virtual visualization technology. At EuroCIS, Wincor Nixdorf will simulate a tour through a model convenience store. Visitors at the stand need an iPhone, have to download the required Wincor Nixdorf app and will receive a pair of 3D glasses. Once equipped, they can start their virtual 360-degree tour of the store and quickly and simply obtain a detailed image of the new or redesigned store environment. Thanks to this solution, Wincor Nixdorf is showing how construction, design and technological concepts for stores can be visualized in advance, thus giving retailers an additional tool to ensure well-founded investment decisions.

This 3D visualization is part of Wincor Nixdorf’s extensive service portfolio that visitors can learn about at EuroCIS. Part of Wincor Nixdorf’s portfolio, Store Modernization helps the company’s retail customers with the construction and modernization of stores by providing advising services as well as by planning, organizing and monitoring construction work. In addition, the company offers end-to-end IT service solutions as part of its Store Life-Cycle Management product. Throughout a store’s life cycle, from opening to operation to restoration of its original condition, Wincor Nixdorf provides support by consulting, managing and rolling out projects and overseeing all service providers. These scalable services also comprise operating the store’s IT system and managing applications as well as ensuring smooth IT-based business processes.

Wincor Nixdorf will present its solutions for retail stores at EuroCIS 2016 (Düsseldorf Exhibition Center, February 23 through 25) at Stand C 26 in Hall 9. What’s more, various projects in practical use and Wincor Nixdorf’s omnichannel solutions will be introduced as part of the presentation program that accompanies the trade fair. Claude Gerber, Head of IT at Calida AG, will talk about his experiences with the SAP Order Management solution Wincor Nixdorf has installed at the global clothing group, for example. A presentation by s.Oliver about the omnichannel concepts the international fashion group has pursued together with Wincor Nixdorf is also planned. In addition, Sabine Grün, Head of Industry Marketing Retail at Wincor Nixdorf, will give a brief presentation titled “Explore the store with mobile solutions.”

Deutsche Post and Postbank workstations to be equipped with new IT systems by Wincor Nixdorf

Major contract from Deutsche Post AG

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-16 — /EPR Retail News/ — Deutsche Post AG has awarded a contract to Wincor Nixdorf as the general contractor to equip all workstations of Deutsche Post and Postbank with new IT systems. The installation will begin in April 2016 and is scheduled to be completed by April 2017. The solution package also includes a five-year service agreement.

During the project, up to 500 systems will be replaced at the branches’ workstations. In addition to PCs, the contract includes peripheral devices like printers, monitors and scanners.

Deutsche Post AG, a member of the Deutsche Post DHL group, operates one of Europe’s largest computer-supported branch networks to sell both its own products and complex products offered by other companies.

Wincor Nixdorf won the contract largely because of Deutsche Post AG’s good experience with the company’s branch systems and the overall solution package. A key aspect of this package was the costs for the entire product lifecycle and the increased process optimization offered by the new IT systems.

By gaining this major contract, Wincor Nixdorf has once again successfully applied its strategy of using its core expertise in global branch banking and retailing to gain new business in the postal industry.

Wincor Nixdorf and Deutsche Post AG have been partners for many years. In 2008, for instance, the company installed IT systems at all of its branch workstations and provided the service for them.

IKEA consolidates its purchasing of IT solutions from Wincor Nixdorf for its 330 stores in 28 countries

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-10 — /EPR Retail News/ — The home furnishing retailer IKEA is consolidating its purchasing of IT solutions from Wincor Nixdorf for its 330 stores in 28 countries. The purchase includes solutions for both payment processes and cash management as well as hardware and software for its traditional and express checkouts.

The solution also comprises a full range of services from consulting, planning and integration testing to installation, operation and a help desk for the customer’s service inquiries. Wincor Nixdorf will also keep track of all system states online (remote monitoring).

The latest step toward standardizing the IT landscape was the installation of some 14,000 Wincor Nixdorf POS systems, for which the IT specialist for banks and retail companies will also provide services such as maintenance and repairs.

A standardized IT landscape enables IKEA Group to quickly transfer the concept to new stores as software updates easily can be installed on all systems from a central location. Inevitably, country-specific adjustments are simplified since they are always made on the basis of a uniform platform.

The hardware and software provided by Wincor Nixdorf also covers the processing of cash collection at IKEA stores, also known as cash management. This process stretches from the checkout, where the cash is accepted, to the cash office, where the money is automatically counted and prepared for pick-up by a cash-in-transit company. Furthermore, express checkout systems from Wincor Nixdorf are in use at all the stores so that customers can scan their own purchases and pay by card, if they desire.

Wincor Nixdorf to showcase new IT solutions for public transport automation at the IT-TRANS trade fair in Karlsruhe, Germany, from March 1-3, 2016

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-10 — /EPR Retail News/ — Wincor Nixdorf will be showcasing new IT solutions for public transport automation during the IT-TRANS trade fair in Karlsruhe, Germany, from March 1-3, 2016. At the global meeting place for experts from the public transport sector, the company will present itself with concepts for automating the time-consuming and cost-intensive cash handling processes in the back office and an ergonomic and secure ticket machine.

Every day, large amounts of cash are collected in many companies by employees working in the field, for example by conductors at railroad companies, (bus) drivers and ticket inspectors in the public transport sector or drivers for parcel services. The volume of cash that is moved here is by no means declining: Both the amount of cash and the number of transactions handled in cash are constantly on the rise. The secure, cost-efficient supply and disposal of banknotes and coins is associated with considerable manual effort for transport services. Cash takings have to be counted and further processed according to the two-person rule – a labor- and cost-intensive process. At IT-TRANS, Wincor Nixdorf will be showing two solutions that largely automate cash processes and guarantee security. Under the name SMART Cash Management, the company will present a compact and cost-efficient solution consisting of a deposit safe and customized software that provides for fast, correct deposits, prompt posting and secure storage of banknotes and coins.

For deposits of large volumes of cash, Wincor Nixdorf has developed the PROFESSIONAL Cash Management concept. This solution consists of an automated teller safe with a recycling function to make deposited banknotes available for dispensing once they have been validated as well as a coin module and the user-friendly CETIS software to control the cash processes. It enables seamless monitoring of cash processes and provides a variety of transaction data for monitoring and reporting purposes in real time.

Public transport companies that want to renew their ticket vending machines can now also turn to Wincor Nixdorf for solutions. The company has evaluated a modular system concept that can be flexibly adapted to the requirements of transport services. During development, the focus was on simple operation, security and optimum serviceability. The terminals can be remotely monitored with the aim of ensuring maximum availability of the systems.

Visitors to IT-TRANS can find Wincor Nixdorf at stand C13 in hall 1. Between 9 and 9.30 a.m. on March 3, 2016, Vera Loeffler, Business Development at Wincor Nixdorf, and Thomas Vogel will be talking about the optimization of cash processes as part of the presentation series “Efficient Operations 2” at Market Update Forum B.

Wincor Nixdorf is one of the world’s leading providers of IT solutions and services to retail banks and retailers. The experience and innovative power that we have gained in these segments through our work with hardware, software, services and Professional Services help us transfer the portfolio to railroad and other public transport companies. Customers benefit from synergies in hardware and software development, the fast transfer of innovations and know-how and a globally established service organization – as we have already proven in various projects with European railroad and public transport companies.

Our portfolio comprises counter automation, self-service, waiting line management and cash management solutions as important offerings for this industrial sector.

Wincor Nixdorf to demonstrate in-store mobility solutions at EuroCIS

Wincor Nixdorf at EuroCIS 2016

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-10 — /EPR Retail News/ — Mobile devices are greatly changing consumer habits. Against this backdrop, retail companies need concepts for offering their customers special shopping experiences in the form of personalized mobile services. Using the TP Application Suite software platform and its individual modules, Wincor Nixdorf will demonstrate at EuroCIS how to efficiently operate mobile touch points and how retailers can support their customers during the purchasing process, excite them with innovative services and maintain their loyalty to their company.

A study* commissioned by Wincor Nixdorf and carried out by the international market research company IDC Retail Insights shows how mobile technologies are changing consumers’ shopping behavior and, as a result, influencing the range of services offered by the retail industry. Already, 72 percent of European customers use their smart phone or tablet to look up additional product information. Nearly one in three customers also expect sales staff at the point of sale (POS) will have mobile devices available to provide more details and demonstrate product features. The same number of consumers also expect sales staff to be able to reserve unavailable products for pick-up at another store as part of their customer service. From the results of the survey, IDC concludes that “mobile services are on the way to becoming an equally important criterion for deciding where to shop as product range, brands and prices..

“Retail companies should quickly define and implement their individual mobile strategy for stores,” says Sabine Grün, Head of Industry Marketing Retail at Wincor Nixdorf. The emphasis here is on “individual.” The basis for every promising mobile concept draws from “first analyzing the cross-channel shopping behavior, gaining a detailed understanding of this customer journey and developing specific mobile services for the company’s own target group,” Grün explains. Customers appreciate flexible delivery and pick-up services, with employees having real-time mobile access to stock levels and orders. Customers save time because they can scan their purchases themselves, for instance with their smart phone, and simply pay at a self-service checkout with either cash or a card. Customers receive personalized smart phone messages with special offers that precisely match their shopping basket, their needs or their current location in the store. These are just a few examples of mobile services. Every retail company must assess how relevant such services are for its own target group and which services in particular contribute to the shopping experience.

In view of its holistic approach to solutions and extensive experience in international retailing, Wincor Nixdorf sees itself as a consulting partner for retailers that has the ability to accompany and support such decision-making processes. In its study, the market research company IDC also recommends that retailers define their mobile strategy in cooperation with an IT partner “who is not only able to implement mobile applications but is also well versed with sales concepts and customer behaviors and has a deep understanding of the processes in the retail sector.”

As a special highlight, Wincor Nixdorf will demonstrate to visitors at EuroCIS 2016 the opportunities new mobile applications offer to brick-and-mortar retail companies using a model store environment. Wincor Nixdorf’s tried-and-tested software platform, the TP Application Suite, is the basis for such processes. The new version TP.net 6.0, with its individual application solutions, provides numerous functions for mobile devices with iOS and Android operating systems. “With TP.net 6.0, we have managed to map many functions, in particular omnichannel functions, and make them available for mobile use,” says Lars Wiesner, Head of Product Line Retail Software at Wincor Nixdorf. For example:

Mobile merchandise management. The software module TPOMM brings user-friendly merchandise management solutions to mobile devices. At the trade fair, Wincor Nixdorf will demonstrate how sales staff can use their tablet to call up product specifications, check product availabilities and enter or change customer orders, for example. With this solution, retailers give their customers the flexibility to buy, order, reserve, pick up and return products in the way that works best for them.

Mobile scanning. Whether customers want to pop in for a quick purchase or leisurely stroll around the store, mobile self-scanning processes using a hand-held scanner provided by the retailer or with the customer’s own smart phone save time and offer new services. Customers can scan their goods directly at the shelf, view additional product information and the total sum of their purchases on the display at any time, and pay quickly and conveniently at a self-service terminal. These processes are controlled through the TPiSHOP software.

Mobile marketing. Addressing customers directly and personally in the store with messages on their smart phone containing special offers that have been specifically selected on the basis of insights from “historical” business relations with the customer: This is an example of the kind of personalized marketing applications Wincor Nixdorf provides with its latest version of TP.net. Special tools for real-time analysis and proactive planning make the campaigns particularly effective and contribute to long-term customer loyalty. “Retail companies benefit from an informative 360-degree view of the customer relationship and can, as a result, gear their offers specifically to the requirements of the customers,” Wiesner says . To implement direct customer communication using beacon technology, Wincor Nixdorf cooperates with Zebra Technologies, a company that provides the WiFi and beacon infrastructure required for such applications.

With BEETLE/moPOS, Wincor Nixdorf will showcase a tablet POS solution at EuroCIS 2016 that can be used as a stationary and mobile point of sale. All the necessary POS functions, information on products and payment by card are thus offered in mobile form wherever the consumer needs them. This solution can also be used by store staff to call up stock information or reorder goods anywhere on the shop floor.

Wincor Nixdorf will present its mobile solutions for retail stores at EuroCIS 2016 (Düsseldorf Exhibition Center, February 23 through 25) at Stand C 26 in Hall 9. In addition, Sabine Grün, Head of Retail Industry Marketing at Wincor Nixdorf, will give a brief presentation titled “Explore the store with mobile solutions.”

Wincor Nixdorf to continue services to BAWAG P.S.K. for five more years

BAWAG P.S.K., one of Austria’s largest and most profitable banks with more than 1.6 million private and commercial customers, will continue to have Wincor Nixdorf perform the operations management of its software platform as well as the management and the maintenance of its self-service systems. Wincor Nixdorf will maintain the bank’s approximately 1,200 self-service systems as well as manage and enhance a wide range of software used in the self-service delivery channel for five more years.

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — In recent years, Wincor Nixdorf has provided the bank with an end-to-end solution of software on the basis of an open, net-centric architecture, state-of-the-art hardware, manufacturer service and the operation of central IT infrastructure. The result of this work is a modern, customer friendly range of self-service options.

The key to this partnership has been Wincor Nixdorf’s PC/E software platform that is used to link automated teller machines, cash recycling systems and transaction terminals to the BAWAG P.S.K. host system. Components of the PC/E software offer a range of service options. Most recently, Wincor Nixdorf developed a software called PC/E Smart Cash that enables customers to withdraw money using a smartphone instead of a bank card. All bank systems are linked to Wincor Nixdorf’s services infrastructure by the PC/E monitoring software to ensure a high level of availability of 250 ATMs, 800 transaction terminals and 165 cash recycling systems for the BAWAG P.S.K. customers.

EuroCIS 2016: Wincor Nixdorf presents new version of its modular software for retail companies TP.net 6.0

TP.net 6.0: Consistent data for customer touchpoints in all sales channels and for enterprise management at headquarters

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-03 — /EPR Retail News/ — Consumers expect retailers to offer them a consistently good shopping experience, no matter the channel. Whether “offline” in the shop itself or online in the web store and on the road with a smartphone – the same data and information must be available anytime, anywhere. To enable that, Wincor Nixdorf is presenting TP.net 6.0, a new version of its modular software for retail companies, at EuroCIS 2016. It delivers consistent and transparent ordering and shopping processes across all sales areas.

Click & collect, reserve & collect, instore ordering, return to store: Consumers now expect retailers to be able to provide these service functions that link brick-and-mortar and digital sales channels. However, such requirements often run up against technological obstacles in practice. That is because the IT structures of most retailers have evolved over time and are characterized by a large number of individual applications from different software developments. Integrating these systems via interfaces usually involves a lot of cost and effort and also entails the risk of downtimes.

Wincor Nixdorf solves this challenge by means of a modular, service-oriented platform concept: At EuroCIS 2016, Wincor Nixdorf is presenting TP.net 6.0, a functionally and architecturally optimized version of its comprehensive software solution for the optimization of store processes, analysis of business processes and omnichannel retailing. Modular means: TP.net and the other components of the TP Application Suite have been developed in accordance with the building block principle and can be integrated fully or partly in existing infrastructures. The software platform’s entire architecture, which has been optimized with the new release, is based on a clear business logic and aims towards real-time availability of consistent data, information and processes for all sales channels. The data from typical sources of information, such as stocks, cross-channel transaction data or customer information, is thus available in consistent form at the customer touchpoints at the stores (such as at traditional POS systems and self-checkouts, at kiosk terminals and on mobile devices like tablets), as well as for enterprise functions at the level of headquarters (via interfaces to the ERP system, e-commerce applications or CRM systems).

Thanks to this architecture and TP Application Suite’s individual software modules, such as TPOMM for standardizing merchandise management and ordering processes in online or stationary retail, or TPCustomer360 for selective, personalized addressing of customers in all channels, retail companies can adapt their processes specifically to their requirements and those of their customers.

The software platform with its individual applications thus enables:
•Consistent handling of identical business processes in different channels
•Extensive support for cross-channel customer service concepts
•A consistent customer experience with an innovative shopping experience across all sales channels.

With its new TP.net version 6.0, Wincor Nixdorf will showcase sample applications, processes and functionalities of its platform solution at EuroCIS 2016 (February 23 through 25, 2016, Düsseldorf Exhibition Center, Hall 9, Booth C26).

The mobile solutions and omnichannel solutions from Wincor Nixdorf will also be presented as part of the presentation program that accompanies the trade fair. Sabine Grün, Head of Retail Industry Marketing at Wincor Nixdorf, will give a talk on the subject of “Explore the store with mobile solutions”. Users will also talk about their experiences with Wincor Nixdorf solutions. Claude Gerber, Head of IT at Calida AG, will present the SAP Order Management solution Wincor Nixdorf has installed at the global clothing group. And a speaker of s.oliver will hold a presentation on the omnichannel concepts of the international fashion company.

Wincor Nixdorf presents new generation of backroom and compacting solutions for reverse vending system

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Feb-01 — /EPR Retail News/ — Wincor Nixdorf presents the Line Module – its new generation of backroom and compacting solutions for reverse vending systems

At EuroCIS 2016, Wincor Nixdorf is presenting its new Line Module in conjunction with the latest version of its Revendo 9020 reverse vending system. The Line Module conveys, sorts, compacts and collects empty beverage containers on a minimal footprint. The new innovative compacting technology almost doubles the previous compaction ratio for PET containers. The longer disposal cycles provided by this module reduce the deployment of staff considerably and make it easier to plan.

In its structure and functioning, the Line Module has been designed to drain off all residual liquid reliably, which greatly reduces soiling of the module. In addition, cleaning is controlled by a single one-touch button, making the process much easier. Cleaning does not require employees to receive long training or use special equipment.

With the Line Module, the backroom structure of a reverse vending system can be scaled to practically any extent and be expanded to up to six modules for each reverse vending machine, depending on the volume of empties concerned. The modular overall concept enables stores to respond flexibly to changed requirements and retrofit additional modules. Users have the option of ordering the Line Module with one or two cutting units that reliably process both cans and PET containers. Each cutting unit can be separately fitted with the new innovative compaction technology.

Using several Line Modules increases availability noticeably. When a full bin of empty containers is removed for disposal, the reverse vending machine remains fully functional as operations switch to the next module.

More space for the sales floor. “Although a Line Module only has a footprint of just about one square meter, we have been able to increase the collection volume considerably and thus extend disposal cycles,” explains Erik Trumpp, who is in charge of global business with reverse vending solutions at Wincor Nixdorf. Using one bin per Line Module provides a capacity of 1,200 PET bottles or 2,500 cans. The bin can be placed next to or beneath the Line Module, depending on the space situation and requirements. As a result, the Line Module lets small and medium-sized supermarkets handle high volumes of empties in a way that has been confined to larger store formats to date. Alternatively, it makes it possible to reduce the reverse vending area and consequently create valuable extra space on the sales floor.

Very flexible conveying and sorting. Bottles and cans travel on a slightly U-shaped, robust and easy-to-clean mono conveyor belt with an additional side guide to ensure stable transport.

To meet special installation requirements, the empty containers can be deflected to the left or right on to a bottle platform or another Line Module.

Designed for ease of use and servicing. Thanks to its compact and service-oriented design, the Line Module can be accessed easily and safely when it comes to both operation and servicing. The one-touch control button means that employees can clean the module without difficulty. All components that need to be cleaned – such as conveyor belts, sorting units and deflection points – can be readily accessed from the service side.

The Line Module is built from high-quality materials that make it robust. For example, all parts that come into contact with residual liquids are made of stainless steel or plastic.

An LED element on the roof of the housing permanently shows the status and can be seen well from all directions. All cleaning operations are acknowledged and logged by the machine and can be output in regular reports.

The bins can be looked into freely however they are installed and can be accessed without having to open a door, so they can be exchanged using a minimum of space.

All parts relevant for servicing, such as the pull-out electronics compartment, can be reached in their entirety from the service side.
To increase system availability and service quality, extensive monitoring and diagnostic facilities have been implemented that give early warning of potential problems and indicate possible solutions.

Compaction ratio almost doubled. This option is of great interest to retail companies of all sizes for capacity and environmental reasons. “The development of our new compaction technology has almost doubled the compaction results of our cutting unit. This is real progress that opens up new possibilities for our customers’ disposal processes,” says Erik Trumpp.

Wincor Nixdorf’s previous cutting technology compacts PET bottles at a ratio of 1 to 2.3, which is normal for the market. The new compaction technology achieves a compaction ratio of 1 to 4.1 for PET bottles. This means that a PET container is reduced to about one quarter of its original size.

Excellent results also in further processing
Processing additionally compacted material proved to be unproblematic in the industrial sorting plants. All plant operators were able to sort and recycle the material without having to adjust their processes or incur losses in production. “That’s an ideal result. It means that plant operators can integrate the new material into their process at any time. And thanks to the high density of our material, we even introduce up to 50% more material per bale into the process, which improves the productivity of many plants significantly,” says Erik Trumpp, showing his satisfaction with the practical results. “The highly compact shape of the cans also helps considerably reduce scrap and the reworking this entails.”

Wincor Nixdorf is presenting its solutions at EuroCIS (Düsseldorf Exhibition Center, Germany, from February 23 through 25, 2016) at booth C 26 in Hall 9.

Wincor Nixdorf will also play an active role in the presentation program accompanying the trade show. Sabine Grün, Head of Retail Industry Marketing at Wincor Nixdorf, will give a talk on the subject of “Creating a new store experience with mobile solutions,” for example. Users will also talk about their experiences with Wincor Nixdorf solutions. Claude Gerber, Head of IT at Calida AG, will present the SAP Order Management solution that Wincor Nixdorf has installed at the global clothing group. In addition, there are plans for a presentation of the omnichannel concepts of an international fashion group.

Wincor Nixdorf to present its enhanced hardware portfolio for retail stores at EuroCIS 2016

Better performance, lower energy consumption

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Jan-19 — /EPR Retail News/ — More powerful, energy-saving, user-friendly and ergonomic: Wincor Nixdorf is presenting its enhanced hardware portfolio for retail stores at EuroCIS 2016. The enhancements have been made to the BEETLE POS family, including printers, as well as solutions for self-service checkout and cash management at the point of sale and in the back office.

For over 40 years, Wincor Nixdorf has been synonymous with innovative, reliable and future-proof POS technology. At EuroCIS 2016, the IT provider will once again demonstrate why it holds such a leading position. Since in today’s age of omnichannel solutions, the point of sale is turning into a hub for additional applications, Wincor Nixdorf has equipped its systems with even more powerful and highly energy-efficient processors. At the same time, the company added new variants to individual model lines and made various fine adjustments.

Checkout: The all-in-one multitouch POS system BEETLE /iPOS plus, with its new Intel Braswell processor technology (Intel Pentium N3710 4x up to 2.56 GHz), offers 100 percent more computing power and up to 40 percent less energy consumption than the previous Intel Atom processor. Its fanless, dust- and splash-proof aluminum chassis and the projected capacitive multitouch technology ensure maximum system availability, a long service life and a guaranteed future. In addition, the terminal’s design was modernized and its footprint further reduced prior to EuroCIS 2016.

Mobile solutions. For store staff who want to serve customers not only at the checkout but also on the shop floor using tablet PCs, Wincor Nixdorf offers a mobile POS solution. The tablet, which can be integrated in the existing store IT infrastructure via the TP.net software platform, provides all required POS functionalities. The solution is thus targeted in particular at specialist retailers whose customers expect reliable advice. Employees can obtain supplementary information on articles and prices, for example, and so respond competently and flexibly to customers’ wishes. If there are too many customers having to wait at open stationary checkouts, the mobile solution can help out and so reduce waiting times (“queue busting”).

Peripherals: Wincor Nixdorf’s new TH250 thermal POS printer, which has been awarded an ENERGY STAR, is the successor to the tried-and-tested printer model TH230. The new device offers convincing performance thanks to its printing speed of 350 mm per second, making it one of the fastest thermal receipt printers available on the market. At EuroCIS, visitors from the world of retailing can also get a picture of the TH250’s optimized graphics and QR code printing. In addition, the printer’s energy consumption has been minimized through improved standby control.

Self-service checkout: A perfect shopping experience with a focus on speed, convenience and flexibility is once again a major topic at this year’s trade fair. Here, Wincor Nixdorf is well-positioned with its different self-service solutions for the checkout zone. The focus is on the self-service checkout solution BEETLE /iSCAN EASY. With its new design, new cash components, easy switching between staff-operated and self-service mode and the ability to be easily integrated in checkout furnishings, BEETLE /iSCAN EASY meets all the current requirements retailers have for self-service checkouts.

In-store interaction is also supported by the W1000 kiosk solution. Through its interactive kiosk applications, customers can get additional information and also complete transactions, if required. The selection of self-service systems for EuroCIS reflects the results of the Self-Checkout Initiative started by the EHI Retail Institute. Over the course of 2015, a market survey of already installed systems as well as an extensive retailer survey provided further insights, which can be realized with Wincor Nixdorf systems. Wincor Nixdorf’s consulting campaign We make IT yours! uses the EHI study as a basis and offers the opportunity to discuss the benefits and deployment options of self-service solutions – also at the trade fair.

Cash management: Wincor Nixdorf offers a broad portfolio of systems for banknote and coin processing both at the checkout and in the cash office.

A new highlight that is going to be presented at EuroCIS for the first time is Value Line for cash management at the POS. This attractive entry-level solution for automated cash processing is geared specifically to the requirements of Wincor Nixdorf’s retail customers and their end customers. Value Line is characterized by its simple integration in existing POS software, its security and its excellent price/performance ratio. A compact system design simplifies the process of integrating Value Line in existing checkout zones. The solution is designed to be used in industries with moderate cash processing requirements as far as speed and the number of transactions are concerned, for example at bakeries, kiosks, hospitality businesses, hairdressers, clothing stores or furniture stores.

Furthermore, Wincor Nixdorf will use the trade fair as an opportunity to demonstrate the performance of its POS automation solution consisting of the CINEO C6010 and the CINEO C1010, which has proven its worth in practice at service stations and many independent food retailers, for example. Retailers visiting the fair can also convince themselves of the solutions that Wincor Nixdorf has developed for automated, time-saving cash processing in the cash office, namely the CINEO C6020 note recycler and the CINEO C1030 bulk coin recycler. Wincor Nixdorf will be showcasing both the consolidation of notes in a cassette and stacked storage in a safe bag.

During EuroCIS 2016 (January 23–25, 2016, Düsseldorf exhibition center), Wincor Nixdorf will be presenting its solution portfolio at stand C26 in hall 9. What’s more, various practical projects and Wincor Nixdorf’s omnichannel solutions will be introduced as part of the presentation program that accompanies the trade fair. Claude Gerber, Head of IT at Calida AG, will talk about his experiences with the SAP Order Management solution Wincor Nixdorf has installed at the global clothing group, for example. There are also plans for a presentation about the omnichannel concepts an international fashion group has pursued together with Wincor Nixdorf. In addition, Sabine Grün, Head of Retail Industry Marketing at Wincor Nixdorf, will give a brief talk on the subject of “Creating a new store experience with mobile solutions”.

AGS Transact Technologies installs 50,000th Wincor Nixdorf automated teller machine at an Indian bank

AGS installs 50,000th automated teller machine from Wincor Nixdorf in India

Paderborn, GERMANY, 2016-Jan-19 — /EPR Retail News/ — AGS Transact Technologies and Wincor Nixdorf have two good reasons to celebrate: AGS has installed the 50,000th Wincor Nixdorf automated teller machine at an Indian bank, and the new collaboration model involving Wincor Nixdorf and AGS was recently launched. The aim of this partnership is to jointly develop and locally produce an ATM model by AGS that has been customized to meet the needs of rural areas. Both companies signed a framework agreement in September covering the partnership. Under the agreement, Wincor Nixdorf will supply key system components that will be used to produce 40,000 systems over the next two years. Shipment of the first 1,000 system components signaled the start of local production by AGS.

“In the past ten years, we have been able to provide all leading banks with best-in-class ATM technology thanks to our strong relationship with AGS in the critically important Indian market,” Eckard Heidloff, CEO and President of Wincor Nixdorf AG, told banking representatives in Mumbai. The support provided by AGS and Wincor Nixdorf enabled the banks to set up a stable self-service infrastructure, Heidloff noted. “The start of production for the new ATM model marks the beginning of a new chapter for us. Our collaboration lends new momentum to the Financial Inclusion Initiative introduced by the Indian government and facilitates the provision of financial services, particularly in rural areas,” Heidloff said.

Ravi B. Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director of AGS Transact Technologies, said: “Our company is a reliable, highly capable technology partner for banks for over a decade now. This collaboration, under the “Make in India” initiative backed by the Government of India, will help us to provide our customers with a tailored, robust product, thereby enabling them to provide a payments service infrastructure in the remotest parts of India.”

The locally produced ATMs, once installed, will help increase access to financial services in rural and metropolitan areas of India. Wincor Nixdorf and AGS Transact Technologies have been driving forces behind the dynamic growth of India’s ATM market. An analysis conducted by the British market research firm RBR shows that Wincor Nixdorf ranked among the top three in the market with an installed base of about 23 percent of ATMs in 2014. RBR projects that India will become the world’s second-largest ATM market, behind China, by 2020. The key reasons for this expansion are rapid population growth and financial inclusion projects initiated by the Indian government.
