GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., 2016-Sep-18 — /EPR Retail News/ — Starting today (September 15, 2016), Meijer shoppers in the greater Detroit area can now have their groceries delivered to their doorstep within one hour.

Not only does the partnership between the Midwest retailer and Shipt, an app-based grocery delivery service, provide southeastern Michigan customers yet another convenient way to shop its stores, it will also employ more than 300 people to shop for Shipt at Meijer stores.

Once customers sign up for the membership-based app, they can shop 55,000 groceries and everyday essentials and perishables – including fresh produce, refrigerated and frozen items – from one of 25 Detroit-area Meijer stores offering Shipt’s home-delivery service. Shipt shoppers will hand-pick the items and deliver orders within a preferred one-hour time window.

Meijer customers can sign up for annual or monthly Shipt memberships. Annual memberships are $99 per year and monthly memberships are $14 per month. For a limited time, new members will also receive $25 off their first order. Delivery is free for orders over $35; a flat $7 delivery fee is added to any orders under $35. Since most Meijer stores are open 24 hours a day, Shipt deliveries will be available at some Meijer locations 24 hours a day, seven days a week with the exception of certain holidays.

Shipt will honor most in-store sales, including buy one, get one free offers, but some of the sale items in the app may differ. While mPerks is currently unavailable through the app, Meijer and Shipt hope to offer mPerks to Shipt members in the future.

While the home delivery service offered by Shipt is currently available at 25 stores in southeastern Michigan, Meijer will continue to evaluate possibilities for expanding to additional stores in the future.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., 2016-Sep-18 — /EPR Retail News/ — Meijer announced today (September 15, 2016) it is expanding the rewards offerings for its credit card portfolio that includes its private label Meijer credit card and Meijer MasterCard. The enhancements also make it easier for card holders to redeem rewards quicker. Beginning today, card holders will receive a $10 Meijer Reward Certificate for every $750 spent on the card. New card holders will also receive $10 off their first purchase using the card at any Meijer store.

Additionally, Meijer credit card and Meijer MasterCard card holders now receive a 10-cents-off-per-gallon discount on Meijer gas when purchased with their Meijer credit card at any of the retailer’s 202 gas stations.

“We are proud to offer these new expanded benefits to Meijer credit card holders, making our programs more attractive for both existing card holders and potentially new customers,” said Marisa Thompson, vice president of promotional planning and business development for Meijer. “Our card holders wanted more reward options and ways to earn rewards faster. We feel adding more practical incentives will enable card holders to realize the value of our program much quicker and more often.”

In the past, Meijer credit card holders received 10 percent off their first purchase at Meijer stores and 5 cents off per gallon on Meijer gas. Meijer MasterCard card holders earned 10 percent off their first purchase at Meijer stores, 5 cents off every gallon every day at Meijer gas stations, and rewards certificates with values of 5 percent off grocery, and health and beauty, and 15 percent off general merchandise for every $1,500 spent at Meijer stores and outside of Meijer stores.

In addition, new Meijer MasterCard card holders will receive a $100 statement credit, or $100 off their next bill, if they spend $1,000 on non-Meijer store purchases within 90 days of activation.
