PEORIA, Ill., 2016-Oct-22 — /EPR Retail News/ — Just in time for the holidays, the new Schnucks at Knoxville Crossing will open to customers at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 with a short ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Located at 10405 North Centerway Drive (61615), Schnucks Knoxville Crossing will mark the company’s second location in Peoria. The new store is a 70,000-square-foot, full-service supermarket with an emphasis on fresh, prepared foods and includes an in-store restaurant – Fresco.
Taking the helm at the new location is Store Manager Blake Beekman. “We’re very excited to introduce this flagship-style store to Peoria-area customers. We promised Peoria residents something special and this store will offer customers a shopping experience that is second to none in central Illinois. ” Beekman said.
Beekman added that the store plans to feature live musical entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings. “We know that many feel grocery shopping is a necessary chore. We’re creating an experience that our customers can enjoy when they visit our Knoxville Crossing location,” he said.
In addition to the in-store restaurant and extensive prepared foods, other amenities include an expanded wine, liquor and beer area; service meat and seafood departments with a sushi bar; a service deli with sliced-to-order specialties including Boar’s Head meats and cheeses; a specialty cheese area; an expanded produce department; a floral department and a fresh bakery. In addition, the store will offer the traditional grocery departments as well as a full-service pharmacy that includes a convenient drive-through window.
Beekman will be joined by Co-Manager Randi Linton who comes from Schnucks’ Pekin location. The store will employ approximately 130 teammates from the surrounding area and will be open 6 a.m. – midnight daily.
The current Peoria Schnucks store, located at 4800 University Street, opened in November 1999. Earlier that same year, Schnucks opened its nearby Pekin location when the company bought Mr. K’s Super Saver.
