Schnucks encourages customers to get a flu shot by offering a $10 Schnucks Gift Card

ST. LOUIS, 2017-Dec-07 — /EPR Retail News/ — In observance of National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), Schnucks is offering a $10 Schnucks Gift Card to all patients who get a flu shot at any of the 95 Schnucks Pharmacies between Dec. 6 and Dec. 12, 2017.

“Schnucks Pharmacies make it easy for patients to get vaccinated,” said Senior Director of Pharmacy Operations Bob Buganski. “No appointment is necessary, no prescription is required, and our pharmacists are certified immunizers. Patients can simply stop by during regular hours and request a flu shot.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) established NIVW as a reminder of the importance of an annual flu shot. According to the CDC, every year an average of five to 20 percent of the United States population gets the flu, 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications, and 36,000 people die from flu related causes. Elderly individuals, young children and those with certain health conditions are at a higher risk for serious flu complications. The agency recommends that everyone six months of age and older get a flu shot.

The cost of the vaccine at Schnucks Pharmacies is $41.99, however, there is no charge for Medicare Part B patients and most insurance plans cover the vaccine, so those patients are only responsible for their plan co-pay, if applicable.

In addition to the Flu vaccine, Schnucks Pharmacies also offer several other immunizations. For more information, please visit the Schnucks Pharmacy Immunization Page.

Schnucks brings Double Up Food Bucks program at its Missouri stores

Program increases healthy food access for low-income families, supports local farmers

ST. LOUIS, 2017-Jun-21 — /EPR Retail News/ — Through a partnership with Fair Food Network and a grant provided by the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), Schnucks is launching Double Up Food Bucks at all 56 of its Missouri stores. This program will start immediately and run as long as local produce is available.

Double Up Food Bucks is a national model for healthy food incentives that doubles the value of SNAP spent on locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables, helping low-income families choose healthy fresh foods, while supporting local growers. (SNAP stands for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program formerly known as food stamps.

“When a customer pays for locally grown produce with their SNAP/EBT card, they earn a dollar for dollar match up to $25 per day that they can use for their next purchase of any fresh fruits and vegetables at that or any other Schnucks store in Missouri,” says Schnucks Director of Community Relations Joanie Taylor.

Taylor added that in-store signage will help customers identify which produce products are locally grown.

Double Up Food Bucks Program Director Noah Fulmer says, “Double Up is a win-win-win. Local families bring home and eat more healthy foods, local farmers sell more produce, and the local economy benefits from more money staying in the community.”

To participate in Double Up Food Bucks, SNAP EBT customers can sign up at www.schnucks.com/dufb or they can visit any Schnucks Missouri store.

In addition to Fair Food Network and MARC, other partners include the East West Gateway Council of Governments, Good Natured Family Farms, University of Kansas Medical Center, St. Louis University and the United Way of Greater St. Louis.

About Double Up Food Bucks:

Double Up Food Bucks is a national model for healthy food incentives active in 20+ state across the country. Pioneered by Michigan-based Fair Food Network in 2009, Double Up helps low-income families eat more fresh fruits and vegetables while supporting family farmers and growing local economies. The Double Up Heartland Collaborative is aligning and scaling up healthy food incentive programs across Missouri and Kansas. Partners in this strong, two-state effort will serve more farmers and low-income families with support from USDA’s Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive program alongside local funders. By 2019, Double Up will be in 117 grocery stores and 68 farmers markets, reaching more than 316,000 SNAP recipients across urban and rural communities in both states. Schnucks and St. Louis Area Diaper Bank to bring diapers to St. Louis area families in need

ST. LOUIS, 2015-9-16 — /EPR Retail News/ — To mark National Diaper Need Awareness Week (Monday, Sept. 28 – Sunday, Oct. 4), Schnucks Markets, Inc. and the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank are teaming up to bring diapers to St. Louis area families in need. Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Oct. 4, most Missouri metro area Schnucks stores are holding a 12-day diaper drive benefiting the Diaper Bank..

According to Schnucks Director of Consumer Affairs and Community Relations Joanie Taylor, Schnucks has a great history of donating food and collecting goods for neighbors in need, and diapers seemed like a natural extension. “The cost of diapers can be a burden on struggling families but at the same time are a basic need for any young child,” Taylor said. “With many locations across the metro area, Schnucks stores make perfect collection points for residents wanting to help their neighbors. Those wanting to give can bring extra diapers from home that their children may have outgrown or they can purchase and donate them right in our store.”

The St. Louis Area Diaper Bank works with local organizations that serve low-income families to provide diapers to St. Louis children who need them. “Diapers in short supply can cause children and parents to suffer negative physical as well as emotional consequences. Diaper rash from staying in a soiled diaper for too long and depression in parents who cannot meet this most basic need for their children are two of the most common consequences,” says Jessica Adams, the director of the Diaper Bank.

In addition to being collection points for the Diaper Bank, Schnucks customers may opt to donate directly to the Diaper Bank by simply adding $1, $3 or $5 to their grocery order when checking out. Additionally, Schnucks’ Tippy Toes brand of diapers and training pants will be Buy One Get One Free ($6.99 – $7.49 value) from Wednesday, Sept. 23 – Tuesday, Sept. 29 giving customers the option of donating the extra package.

The St. Louis Area Diaper Bank exists to help strengthen low-income families in the St. Louis region by ensuring access to an adequate supply of diapers and by raising awareness about the causes and consequences of diaper need in our community. Follow the Diaper Bank on Facebook at Facebook.com/StLDiaperBank.

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 98 stores and 93 in-store pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa. Follow Schnucks on Facebook at Facebook.com/Schnucks.
