Carrefour Italy’s e-commerce service to get a makeover

Italy, 2016-Oct-12 — /EPR Retail News/ — New access methods and new shopping services, not just for daily shopping but now also including oriental cuisine

Carrefour Italy’s e-commerce service is getting a new look: since September 27, when you log into the website, you can do your shopping with just a few clicks. The service allows customers to pick up their order at the nearest store or have it conveniently delivered to their home.

The focal point is the strong integration of the online content with the e-commerce service that allows the customer to easily add all the ingredients for the recipe they are viewing in the “magazine” section of carrefour.it to their shopping cart.

Carrefour Italy’s e-commerce service allows its customers to do an online selection from over 20,000 products from the best brands, local products, and Carrefour, Terre d’Italia, Carrefour bio and Viversano brand products, but it also offers the opportunity to order from a wide selection, sushi prepared fresh directly at the store, and the possibility of ordering their own bowl of Grom ice cream in their favorite flavor (only in Milan and Rome).

Continuous growth in interest in online food shopping is reflected in Carrefour Italy’s e-commerce product range, which is perfectly aligned with an omni-channel approach, enabling the customer to have the same freedom and flexibility to choose when they will order and where they will take delivery of their own purchases. At carrefour.it, you can also order the following categories of products: prepackaged foods, fruits, vegetables, meat and other fresh products (including by weight), personal care and household products, baby food and baby care products, pet food and pet care products.

Customers can choose to have their purchase delivered to their home, in one of the 370 postal code areas throughout Italy, as early as three hours after sending the order, with free delivery for orders over € 70. Or they can pick up their purchase, just one hour after sending the order, at no additional charge, at one of the more than 230 Carrefour stores (including Hypermarkets, Markets and Express stores that offer this service), located in 130 cities and towns throughout the country.

With Drive service, now active for the first time at the Hypermarket in Nichelino (TO), customers can pick up their purchase directly in the parking lot, without even getting out of the car, and at no extra charge.

Carrefour Italy launches Carrefour for Her campaign to promote the inclusion of women and cultivate their potential

ITALY, 2016-May-12 — /EPR Retail News/ — The campaign runs throughout May in every Carrefour sales point in Italy, with part of the proceeds from the sales of bunches of flowers going to UN WOMEN. It’s implemented as part of Carrefour’s Women Leaders corporate project.

Carrefour for Her is confirmation of Carrefour Italy’s commitment to raising awareness of the gender equality issue among its employees and the general public, and is one of a range of special initiatives developed as part of its CSR activities.

In May, in every Carrefour store in Italy and many franchise stores, part of the proceeds from three different floral bouquets will go to UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and women’s rights.  These proceeds will be used in projects for protecting women against gender violence, and eliminating gender barriers in the social, economic and political spheres.

Carrefour for Her is part of a proactive policy implemented by Carrefour Italy to promote the inclusion of women and cultivate their potential. This policy launched in 2015 when Carrefour joined the HeForSHE programme and CEO Eric Uzan put his signature to the document Women’s Empowerment Principles. It’s evidence of the strong commitment of Carrefour Italy to the Women Leaders equal opportunities programme, whose principal objective is to eliminate gender discrimination and promote the careers of female managers.

Eric Uzan, CEO of Carrefour Italy, declared: “In a company like ours, where over 64% of our employees are women, it’s important to promote an equal opportunities policy which offers a place to gender equality initiatives in particular. Like previous projects, Carrefour for Her is a concrete initiative for promoting principles and rights related with women, both inside and outside the company. I strongly believe, both personally and in my capacity as CEO of Carrefour Italy, that this is the right approach to follow, if backed by a non-discriminatory corporate culture that’s strongly oriented to gender equality.  Thanks to this project, we’re happy to make our contribution to UN Women and to help implement its programmes on a global level.”

Simone A. Ovart, President of the UN Women’s Italian National Committee, declared:
The Italian National Committee for UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, is proud and excited to receive the support of Carrefour Italy with this initiative. For many years, Carrefour has proactively worked to eliminate all forms of discrimination and promote the careers of young female managers. It is a signatory to Women’s Empowerment Principles, a document drawn up by the United Nations Global Compact in collaboration with UN Women designed to promote the role of women at all levels of business, and also supports the HeForShe movement, an innovative campaign which encourages men and boys to become involved in the fight for gender equality. We’d like to extend out heartfelt gratitude to Carrefour Italy, in the person of its CEO, Eric Uzan, who with this initiative has mobilized his company in support of women. We’re convinced it will allow us to make a significant contribution to the implementation of the programmes of UN Women.

Carrefour Italy (Milan) among the winners of the sixth edition of the “Good Energy Award 2015”

MILAN, ITALY, 2015-10-7 — /EPR Retail News/ — The first Italian award dedicated to virtuous businesses in the fields of renewable energy and energy savings, created by Bernoni Grant Thornton, is now celebrating its sixth year of existence.

Carrefour Italy (Milan) for the category Tertiary, Melinda (Cles – Trento) for the category Industry, the Municipality of Vigodarzere (Padua) for the category Public Administration and Public Utilities and Sinapsi Tech (Bastia Umbra – Perugia) for the category Start-up are the winners of the sixth edition of the “Good Energy Award 2015.” This was the verdict handed down by the Prize Jury created by Bernoni Grant Thornton, which was the first in Italy to propose the recognition by award of those companies that have had the courage to invest in an innovative, non-traditional market, in a manner that shows responsibility for the environment, the economy and the region.

Among the more than 50 companies, the Jury identified three finalists for each . Carrefour Italy won the prize in the category Tertiary.

The Carrefour Italy Group is a major retailer in Italy. The company is present in 19 regions of Italy with a total of 1,136 stores (as of 6/30/2015) and more than 20,000 employees. The Group demonstrates its commitment to energy conservation and sustainability. Reducing the environmental impact of business activities and raising the awareness of customers and employees about the rational use of energy resources are at the heart of Carrefour’s approach to sustainable development. The Group has set an objective for itself to reduce its energy consumption per square meter by 30% compared to 2005 and to reduce its CO2 emissions by 40% compared to 2009 – by 2020. Electricity consumption accounts for over 90% of its stores’ energy consumption, and is therefore a priority to work on to achieve its objectives.

Carrefour has presented in particular a project that describes the innovative technologies installed in the Carrefour Market at Siena Square in Milan, aimed not only at energy efficiency, but above all at sustainability in terms of reducing CO2. There are two types of technologies employed at Siena Square: the use of non-chemical, but natural gas for refrigerated displays, which mean the impact on the environment is decreased by 3800 volts compared to using chemical gas in traditional systems. Using full LED lighting instead of traditional fluorescent lights, which ensures a reduction in electricity consumption of 70% and has a strong impact in terms of the environment.

The awards ceremony was held at the headquarters of “Il Sole 24 Ore” an Italian national daily business newspaper at Via Monte Rosa 91 in Milan.
