ASOS launches Gift Assistant that will help customers shop for Christmas gifts

London, 2017-Nov-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — ASOS is a global fashion destination for 20-somethings. Selling over 85,000 branded and own-label products through localised mobile and web experiences.

ASOS launches a new virtual assistant via the Facebook page that will make suggestions for customers shopping Christmas gifts. The ASOS Gift Assistant is available to customers during the Christmas period in the UK and France and will use the answers to a selection of questions to make suggestions from the numerous potential presents available on site.

Available on social media, the service will have its own Facebook page where customers can click through and it is also available through advertisements on Facebook.

Based on machine learning technology, the digital assistant sifts through options by asking carefully considered questions leaving you with narrowed down choices for your gift recipient. The questions will be based on 20-something customers and include quirks like ‘What item would most likely fall out of their bag’ in order to give clever gift ideas. The service also allows you to see more products should you wish to expand your purchase further.

It will also continue the partnership with Choose Love – if a customer is left unsure – they will have the option to ‘Choose Love’ and purchase an item from the charitable range for Help Refugees where 100% of the proceeds are donated to the charity.

ASOS Gift Assistant showcases the site as a one stop shop in a new and engaging way for customer this Christmas.

Beat the Christmas Shopping Rush With Christmas Hamper

With Christmas just days away, and with more shoppers than expected heading to the high street, Christmas Hamper advise consumers on how to make Christmas a lot less stressful.

Shoppers have returned to the British high street in their thousands this year, as recent figures have revealed that more consumers than expected went Christmas shopping during the final weekend before Christmas, spending an estimated £1 billion on the Saturday before Christmas alone. While this is great news for retailers after a rather difficult year, it isn’t great news for customers, as more sales means more crowds and also longer waiting times. However, shoppers who still have presents to buy needn’t worry because Christmas Hamper have a solution.

A spokesperson for Christmas Hamper explains:
“December has been a much more profitable period for retailers than previously expected, as more consumers than expected have returned to the high street. However, the increase in sales has led to issues for customers, as the surge in people visiting shops, supermarkets and other retail centres had meant that their shopping experience might not have been as enjoyable. At Christmas Hamper, we know how stressful Christmas shopping can be, and so we’ve taken a lot of time and care to that our customers can order our hampers in the comfort of their own home, and with no stress.

While the retail figures from last weekend before Christmas have revealed that shoppers in the UK spent an impressive £1.5 million every minute last Saturday, the high street is obviously a very busy place to be this Christmas. But at Christmas Hamper, they have some advice for any shopper that has to do last minute chopping during the festive season, including the final day to order gifts to ensure they arrive before Christmas day.

The spokesperson for Christmas Hamper continues: “Christmas time is obviously the busiest time of year to go shopping, with so much to buy, such as cards, wrapping paper, gifts, toys and hampers but we realise that there are certain times when a consumer has to go to the high street or their supermarket to get some last minute presents and other essentials for the festive season. So our advice to customers is that if they are worrying about going shopping during this time, then they should be organised, they need to have a plan before they leave the house: such as writing a list of what they need, how much it costs, and where they have to buy it, and they should leave the house early in order to beat the crowds. If they are ordering presents online, then it’s vital that they are aware of the final day to order gifts to ensure Christmas delivery. At Christmas Hamper, our final order date before Christmas is the 21st of December, which means that anyone who orders on this date will receive their hamper before the 25th. Once all the shopping is done, it’s time to relax and enjoy Christmas, and so we want to wish all our customers a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.”

Makro Updates Own Brand Champagne

Makro has re-launched its range of high quality own brand Champagne, Veuve Pelletier, which retails at almost half the price of well known brands such as Moet and Veuve Clicquot. The revamped bottle includes a new design which clearly communicates the brand’s commitment to quality.

Sales of Champagne rose 16.3% in 2010 according to figures published by the Champagne Bureau and ‘off-trade’ experienced an increase in sales of 6%. The booming market combined with the high sales during the festive season means that Champagne can become an excellent source of revenue for both ‘on’ and ‘off-trade’ and a low price point will ensure maximum profits

Champagne Veuve Pelletier Brut and Champagne Veuve Pelletier Demi Sec are both made from a blend of three grapes: Chardonnay (10%), Pinot Noir (62%) and Pinot Meunier (28%.)

Veuve Pelletier Brut (12.4% alcohol) is aged for a minimum of 15 months allowing the blends to harmonise bringing out the notes of brioche, honey and a fresh floral scent. The mouth is well balanced, with a roundness and red fruit flavour with a delightful long lasting elegant finish.

Veuve Pelletier Demi Sec (12.2% alcohol) boasts a golden yellow colour bursting with fine and regular bubbles with an expressive vinous nose and a fruity flavour combined with sweet honey. The sweet flavours prevail in the mouth and are followed by the fruitiness of the wine and a suave finish.

The Champagne was selected as part of an international sourcing strategy with parent company Metro. The wines underwent sommelier and consumer testing to ensure the finest quality product was selected.

Karen Hornby, Own Brand Manager for Makro, said: “Veuve Pelletier Champagne is possibly the best Champagne on the market at this price point. It represents excellent value for money and is the perfect addition to any independent retailer, bar, restaurant or club’s wine list in time for ideal Christmas gifts.

The Kymera Magic Wand That Had The Dragons’ Den Under Its Spell Now Available At Menkind

The Kymera Wand, a remote control that helped its inventors secure a record investment on the BBC television show Dragons’ Den, is now available to purchase at Menkind’s stores as well as online at

Viewers of last Monday’s (August 23) episode of Dragon’s Den saw inventor Chris Barnardo pitch his innovative, buttonless magic wand remote control which appears to take a lot of inspiration from the books and films of Harry Potter.

The invention received the largest offer of investment ever for the programme, resulting in the show’s fiercest dragon, Duncan Bannatyne, offering £200,000 which was accepted by Chris and his co-inventor Richard Blakesley.

The remote is able to control TVs, Hifi systems and many other remote controlled devices with a flick of the wrist or one of the 13 predefined movements. The remote acts like the many universal remotes in that it can learn 13 commands, or “spells” from existing remotes you have around the home.

Chris Barnardo said: “I suggested the idea to Richard when we were drinking in a pub and he came up with the plan to control it by gestures, not buttons.”

Chris even tested out people’s reaction to their invention by holding a wand in one hand and secretly holding a television remote behind his back. When the television sprung to life after a wave of the wand model, Chris’ son was amazed at how his father was in possession of a real life “magic wand”.
