HONG KONG, 2018-Mar-08 — /EPR Retail News/ — One of the most celebrated and revered events in the wine and spirits industry returns to Singapore this year, as DFS Group, the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, hosts its seventh Masters of Wines and Spirits event. On display will be more than 120 masterpieces from 60 of the world’s most legendary wine and spirits houses.

For the first time, the event will take place across two days; on Saturday March 24 and Sunday March 25 at The Warehouse Hotel, a meticulously-restored heritage building on the banks of the Singapore River. Once again, Masters of Wines and Spirits captures the heritage and craftsmanship of selected brands and pays tribute to DFS’ long-standing relationships with some of the world’s most exceptional wineries and distilleries.

This year’s event will highlight the influence of the distillers’ countries of origin, their personalities and unique and varied approaches to craft. As the only event where customers can purchase bespoke, rare, limited edition, first edition, and world-class wines and spirits in one location, the seventh Masters of Wines and Spirits offers an exclusive and immersive brand experience for DFS’ guests.

Masters of Wines and Spirits showcases a highly specialized and curated collection of products, many of which are DFS exclusives, celebrating the world’s finest industry expertise as well as the knowledge of DFS’ own merchants. New brands, as well as signature classics from legendary houses, will all be on display, reveling in rarity, heritage and innovation.

“DFS is delighted to bring the seventh Masters of Wines and Spirits to Singapore, a fitting location for us to host our esteemed guests, connoisseurs and collectors to experience a range of the best globally sourced Cognacs, wines and whiskies,” said Sibylle Scherer, DFS President Merchandising and Consumer Marketing.

“This year’s selection has been handpicked by our expert merchants at DFS to inspire and delight our customers. This really is a celebration of the diverse talents of the world’s most renowned distillers and winemakers, and a true adventure for the senses,” she said.

“At DFS, we take great pride in bringing together our valued brand partners and loyal customers in an intimate and exclusive environment that encourages sharing and discovery,” said Brooke Supernaw, DFS Group’s Senior Vice President Wines, Spirits, Tobacco, Food and Gifts. “The 2018 Masters of Wines and Spirits collection sets a new bar for this dynamic category, comparing the nuances between traditional versus craft and providing an opportunity for our guests to enjoy the very best products from around the world.”

Master Classes and Whisky Panel

The 2018 Masters of Wines and Spirits event will feature two exceptional master classes to inspire and enrich guests, as well as a whisky panel discussion featuring four of the world’s leading experts.

The first in this year’s Classes with the Masters is The Balvenie Master Class Workshop – Single Malt Whisky hosted by The Balvenie Malt Master, David C. Stewart MBE.

Mr Stewart will discuss how craftsmanship is brought to life at The Balvenie and guide guests through the entire Chapter 3 set of the DCS Compendium, including a tasting of the oldest Balvenie expression ever released. The second Master Class, the Château Latour Master Class Workshop – Wine, hosted by Rufus Beazley, Sales and Marketing Manager for Château Latour Asia Pacific, will take visitors through a vertical tasting across decades of exceptional Château Latour products.

Presented by The Whiskey House, The Whisky Panel will be moderated by DFS’ own Director of Spirits, Frederik Vanden Bulcke and will feature a panel discussion on whisky experts Stephanie MacLeod from John Dewar & Sons (Aultmore – Single Malt Whisky), Dr Kirstie McCallum from Bunnahabhain (Single Malt Whisky), Chole Wood from Bruichladdich (Single Malt Whisky) and David Croll from The Kyoto Distillery (Whisky and Gin).

The Collection

More than 30 Cognacs and whiskies include The Balvenie DCS Compendium Chapter 3: Secrets of the Stock Model, an eagerly anticipated release that pays tribute to Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE’s masterful skill, knowledge, and custodianship in managing The Balvenie’s precious aged stocks. The Model comprises five extremely rare single-cask single-malt bottling, ranging in age from 13 to 55 years.

The Jean-Paul Camus 1945 Private Reserve, an exclusive blend for DFS Masters of Wines and Spirits, comes in a hand-carved crystal carafe with silver details that recreates a model designed in 1883 by the Cristalleries de Baccarat for Jules Grévy, President of the French Republic. The outstanding Louis XIII Le Jeroboam with T.T. Trunks Paris piece is a contemporary design that brings a radical new twist to trunk accessories. The aluminum and steel structure holds three small cases made of okume wood, each encased in natural milled buckskin with Alcantara trimmings.

A rare cellar release from Japan is the Karuizawa 1960 Cask #5627. Possibly the oldest cask of Japanese whisky ever bottled, this 1960 single cask yielded just 41 bottles, achieving legendary status amongst connoisseurs and collectors.

From the world of Scotch Single Malts, The Aultmore 31 Year Old Exceptional Cask (Cask no. 1635) is part of John Dewar & Sons Fine Scotch Whisky Emporium which showcases the rare releases of some of the finest and most delectable single cask and single malt expressions. Specially created for Masters of Wines and Spirits, Aultmore Cask no.1635 has the color of antique leather and on the nose, the Oloroso sherry adds weight and complexity, complimented by notes of vanilla, butterscotch, and Seville oranges. The Bruichladdich Special Release showcases three exceptional distillery releases from 1988, 1989 and 1990, presented as the oldest and rarest whiskies of Bruichladdich. Created and bottled on the remote Hebridean island home of Islay, there are only six bottles per edition. From the Bunnahabain distillery, built in 1881, and deriving its name from the Gaelic, Bunnahabhain (Bu-na-ha-venn), meaning “mouth of the river”, comes the Bunnahabhain 1980 Canasta Finish. With only 20 units available, this rare cellar release offers a rich oakiness balanced with sweet dried fruit, treacle toffee, black coffee, cocoa, roasted nuts, and a hint of coastal brininess.

Also from Scotland is The Macallan Fine & Rare Master’s selection, specially created for Masters of Wines and Spirits, this unique collection features five fine and rare vintages in 70cl, complemented by savoring samples in 5cl miniatures. The Glenglassaugh Single Cask Collection 1972-1976 is an elegant, unique and rare selection of bottles, offering the whiskey connoisseur a lush, ripe Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky experience. A rare release from The Ladyburn distillery is the Ladyburn 1974, a single malt from William Grant & Sons’ treasured ancient reserves of maturing whisky.

More than 30 prestige wines and champagnes are showcased in this year’s collection, including the Harlan Estate Double Magnum 100 Point Trifecta from the United States, a special collection created for DFS as an exclusive release of three vintages in double magnum format and representing three of the most highly regarded vintages produced by Harlan to date. From Australia comes the Penfolds G3, a unique wine entwining three vintages of an Australia icon, Penfolds Grange, spanning seven years. French wines in this year’s collection include The Pavillon Blanc du Chateau Margaux 2010 Double Magnum; the epitome of great Pavillon Blanc vintages. A fine and elegant wine, the 2010 has an exquisite richness and a perfect balance on the palate, thanks to higher than average acidity. Chateau Latour’s Vertical Magnum release provides a rare opportunity to collect six of the most exceptional vintages produced by Latour; the 1996, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2010.

With only one set being released of the Petrus Magnum Collection 2006, 2007 and 2011, one lucky wine lover will experience one of the famous wine labels in the world.

After March 25, the Masters of Wines and Spirits curated collection will be available for travelers and shoppers at DFS, Singapore Changi Airport’s Wines and Spirits Duplexes at Terminals 2 and 3.

DFS Masters of Wines and Spirits is part of the DFS Masters Series, a signature program of exhibitions that also includes the highly-anticipated 10th Masters of Time set to take place in Macau this December. The Masters Series is a showcase of the pinnacle of DFS’ leadership and innovation in curating and creating exceptional experiences across its five pillars of luxury: Wines and Spirits, Beauty and Fragrances, Watches and Jewelry, Fashion and Accessories, and Food and Gifts.

COLLECTORS AROUND THE WORLD ARRIVE IN MACAU FOR WORLD’S LARGEST RETAIL EVENT OF FINE WATCHES AND JEWELRY

HONG KONG, China, 2017-Dec-14 — /EPR Retail News/ — DFS Group, the world’s leading travel retailer, launched its ninth annual Masters of Time exhibition on Saturday, December 9. The exhibition, which is held at T Galleria by DFS, Macau, in partnership with Shoppes at Four Seasons, will run until February 28, 2018 for customers to view and shop the curated collection. The DFS Masters of Time exhibition is well known for being the world’s largest and most prestigious retail event for luxury watches and jewelry, showcasing the best in design, innovation and heritage for men and women. This year, DFS’ expert teams brought together an unparalleled collection of more than 450 fine watches and exquisite jewelry from 30 brands in a theme that focused on the concept of memories.

“This year’s Masters of Time exhibition explores how watch collectors and creators commemorate life’s most significant moments, so that certain pieces become imbued with our memories,” said Christophe Chaix, Senior Vice President, Fashion, Watches, Jewelry and Accessories. “As always, the customer is at the heart of everything we do at DFS, and each year we travel the world to curate a Masters of Time exhibition to delight returning and new customers alike. This exhibition offers seasoned collectors and first-time buyers the chance to own exceptional pieces that will forever become part of their own memorable journey.”

The ninth annual Masters of Time exhibition kicked off with a prestigious gala event where award-winning artist Jade Kwan performed for guests as they explored a variety of intriguing activities. A multi-sensory exhibition was introduced for the first time at Masters of Time, in which the curated collection of timepieces and jewelry was displayed through a series of interactive pop-up spaces and animations to evoke emotions and ignite the senses. Guests were taken on a multi-sensory journey through four different spaces that explored the concepts of nostalgia, memories, adventure and heritage, each of which transported guests back to a special place, moment or time.

Romantic, rare and archival pieces with a focus on “savoir faire” took center stage in the section dedicated to nostalgia, whilst innovative complications that are certain to become future icons embodied the idea of making memories. Highly technical sports and lifestyle watches dominated in the adventure area, and finally, iconic and classic timepieces brought heritage to life.

In addition, guests were treated to a taste of The Macallan whisky and fine Petrossian caviar, paired to provide the ultimate culinary experience. Korean illustrator Jae Suk Kim flew in from Seoul to hand-paint guests’ portraits in his signature style, featuring Su Su girls adorned in fine jewelry and watch pieces, as holiday gift cards to commemorate the event.

The 2017 Masters of Time exhibition is available for viewing and purchase at T Galleria by DFS, Macau, Shoppes at Four Seasons until February 28, 2018.

DFS Group launches its sixth annual Masters of Wines and Spirits in Singapore

SINGAPORE, 2017-Mar-29 — /EPR Retail News/ — DFS Group (DFS), the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, launched its sixth annual Masters of Wines and Spirits in Singapore on Saturday, March 25. The highly-anticipated Masters of Wines and Spirits program brings together an extraordinary collection of more than 60 Cognacs, wines and whiskies from over 50 legendary houses. Unveiled at a spectacular gala event in partnership with the Changi Airport Group on Singapore’s historic Tras Street, the curated collection will be exhibited in store and available for sale at DFS, Singapore Changi Airport’s Wines and Spirits Duplexes at Terminal 2 and 3.

Inspired by the world traveler’s desire for discovery, DFS’ team of experts scoured the globe, working hand-in-hand with leading producers of Champagne, Cognacs, whiskies and wines to curate an exceptional collection of extremely rare and one-of-a-kind pieces available only at DFS.

“Each piece in this year’s Masters of Wines and Spirits collection is a testament to the craftsmanship of the brands and our relationships with our customers,” said Philippe Schaus, Chairman and CEO, DFS Group. “We’re thrilled to bring together this fantastic assortment of the world’s leading wines and spirits once again to Singapore and present an unmissable opportunity for connoisseurs to build their collection with DFS.”

Celebrating the unique heritage of the Lion City, DFS hosted its gala along the historic Tras Street with VIP guests joining the world’s leading brands and their ambassadors for an evening of entertainment amongst iconic shophouses. DFS transformed individual shophouses into celebrations of signature wines and spirits where guests interacted with ambassadors from iconic brands, offering their insight, knowledge and exclusive tastings.

This year’s event also featured hands-on master classes and educational tastings for select VIP guests. At The Dalmore house, Master Blender Richard Patterson hosted a bespoke tasting to showcase The Dalmore’s rich heritage and artistry. Frederic Dezauzier, Global Brand Ambassador of CAMUS introduced guests to the smallest and rarest cru in the Cognac region, Borderies, providing a unique tasting experience featuring a selection of CAMUS Borderies Single-Cru Cognacs, including a Borderies Vintage and an exclusive Borderies blend that has never been released. Château Margaux’s Regional Ambassador Thibault Pontallier conducted a vertical tasting across decades of the brand’s history.

Guests were also given an opportunity to meet key whisky brand ambassadors brought together by DFS’ very own The Whiskey House – an exclusive and interactive whisky retail concept available to travelers at DFS, Singapore Changi Airport. DFS Group opens its doors at T Fondaco dei Tedeschi in the heart of Venice

Venice, Italy, 2016-Oct-03 — /EPR Retail News/ — DFS Group, the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, opens its doors on October 1 at T Fondaco dei Tedeschi by DFS in the historic heart of Venice, on the Grand Canal, within a landmark building once famed as a center of commerce between East and West. T Fondaco dei Tedeschi offers an exceptional collection of the most desired luxury products from Italian and international brands across 7,000 square meters of retail space, in the categories of fashion and accessories, watches and jewelry, wines and spirits, and beauty and fragrances, alongside a carefully curated selection of locally handcrafted artisan products and premium food. In addition, the store will provide a new cultural hub for the city of Venice, promoting events and exhibitions that complement the city’s annual calendar of activities.

For over 55 years, DFS, which is privately held and majority owned by the world’s largest luxury conglomerate Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), has provided global travelers with luxurious and inspiring shopping experiences in some of the most iconic travel destinations around the world, from Los Angeles to Sydney, Honolulu to Okinawa, Hong Kong to Singapore, and Bali to Siem Reap. Now, the company once again draws on its unparalleled expertise, as well as its deep relationships with some of the world’s best-known brands, to curate a one-stop lifestyle department store unlike any in Europe.

“It is an enormous privilege for DFS to be able to make its first European foothold in Venice, the center of global trade for many centuries and now one of the most popular travel destinations in the world,” said Philippe Schaus, DFS Group’s Chairman and CEO. “T Fondaco dei Tedeschi will be much more than a shopping venue, combining international, Italian and local products, culture and entertainment together with all the experiences of an incredible historic setting.”

Located on the Grand Canal, a few steps away from the famous Rialto Bridge and within walking distance from St Mark’s Square, the new store occupies one of the city’s most venerated buildings, the 800-year old Fondaco dei Tedeschi, which began its life as a place of exchange for northern merchants and was used for centuries to trade spices, silk and other goods between the Orient and Europe. The renovation of the building was entrusted to the eminent architect and urbanist Rem Koolhaas who, with his architectural firm OMA, has meticulously restored and transformed it into a grand trading emporium spanning four stories. Inside, a sumptuous interior design by architect Jamie Fobert celebrates the traditional elements, textures and shapes of Venice to produce a truly spectacular store bridging tradition and modernity.

On the ground floor level, originally a bustling medieval courtyard, T Fondaco dei Tedeschi presents the Gucci and Bottega Veneta concept boutiques on the Grand Canal as well as a range of Italian fashion accessories and jewelry. In addition, a carefully selected assortment of food, wine and gifts celebrates local craftsmanship and the Italian zest for life.

The first floor, accessed by a rich red-hued escalator designed by OMA, features women’s fashion, jewelry and accessories from brands including, among many others, Bulgari, Damiani, Fendi, Lanvin, Max Mara, Tiffany & Co and Valentino. The second floor introduces Venice’s only multi-brand luxury watch area, with a large offering of brands like Cartier, Hublot, Omega and Panerai, along with a curated selection of men’s fashion and accessories brands including Brioni, Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, Moncler, Ermenegildo Zegna and many more. On the third floor, Venice’s most exclusive designer women’s shoe salon and largest offering of beauty and fragrance products offers customers the added pleasure of gazing out through the arching arcades that line the floor’s inner terrazzo corridor. Featured brands on this floor include the likes of Aquazzura, René Caovilla, Jimmy Choo and Giuseppe Zanotti in the magnificently designed shoe salon, and for the beauty world, a large array of Italian and international brands including Acqua di Parma, Dior, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, and The Merchant of Venice.

Above the retail space, T Fondaco dei Tedeschi features an entire floor dedicated to events and exhibitions that will be open to the public, creating a vibrant meeting place and cultural venue for Venetian residents and travelers alike and opening onto a rooftop terrace with a unique and breathtaking panoramic view of Venice, reaching from the Grand Canal to the Venetian Lagoon and beyond to the peaks of the nearby Italian Alps. The first exhibition, a video installation entitled “Under Water” by internationally renowned Italian multimedia artist Fabrizio Plessi, will debut with the opening of the store on October 1.

“Each of our downtown department stores reflects DFS’ passion for travel, quality merchandise and exceptional customer service and experience,” said Philippe Schaus. “With T Fondaco dei Tedeschi, we are proud to set a new global benchmark in the world of luxury department stores and to re-establish the connection between commerce and culture in the historic heart of Venice.”

For fashion-lovers, the experience is elevated with the June opening of 31 new fashion and accessories brands, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Prada, Miu Miu and Fendi. And catering to male customers for the first time at any T Galleria by DFS store, there will be a dedicated multi-branded, lifestyle area that mixes ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, watches and grooming all in one space.

By the end of this year, the phased opening will culminate in a significantly wider jewelry offering, bringing key luxury jewelry brands Tiffany & Co. and Van Cleef & Arpels to City of Dreams as well as new watches boutiques from Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin.

To ensure a uniquely disruptive and ultimately fulfilling experience for all, exclusive dining outlets for high tea and social gatherings will also be integrated into the environment.

DFS Group opens its first and largest duty free luxury department store in Cambodia, T Galleria by DFS, Angkor

SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA, 2016-Mar-25 — /EPR Retail News/ — DFS Group, the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, opened its doors today at the first T Galleria by DFS store in Cambodia. Located in Siem Reap, a popular resort town and provincial capital in close proximity to the ancient temple of Angkor Wat, T Galleria by DFS, Angkor is the largest duty free luxury department store in Cambodia, offering travelers an integrated retail, hospitality and leisure experience. The store will open in phases until June, bringing a total of 170 brands to the 86,000 square foot space including leading international fashion and accessories, watches and jewelry, wines and spirits, and beauty and fragrances brands as well as a selection of locally handcrafted artisan products.

“Here at DFS Group, we’re continually inspired by our customers’ appetite for discovery and adventure. We are honored to be able to welcome them to Siem Reap, a destination renowned for its rich culture and history, and to offer more opportunities for them to enjoy their stay,” said Philippe Schaus, DFS Group’s Chairman and CEO. “T Galleria by DFS, Angkor is an oasis of luxury in the heart of the city, allowing visitors to indulge their taste for the finest international brands as well as experience the best that Cambodia has to offer.”

Set within a verdant park and adjacent to the Angkor National Museum, home to some of the region’s most acclaimed historical artifacts, T Galleria by DFS, Angkor is a celebration of local culture and heritage within an elegant, contemporary setting. DFS worked closely with Cambodian artisans to incorporate traditional Khmer motifs and carvings throughout the store. Stone columns feature panels carved in styles reflecting the nearby temples and palaces of Angkor Wat, intricately patterned wall screens and floor tiles evoke local architecture, and a nearly 60-foot art installation, suspended in space above the store’s vaulted atrium, is inspired by the rich, warm hues of Buddhist monks’ robes. From day one, over 200 local Siem Reap sales associates will welcome customers with the hospitality that Cambodia is known for.

The opening of T Galleria by DFS, Angkor also marks the exclusive launch of several first-in-Cambodia brands, including watches and jewelry brands Bulgari, Carl F. Bucherer and Tiffany & Co. and international fashion brands Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Fendi, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Saint Laurent and Zegna. In the world of beauty, customers can also discover 12 beauty and fragrances brands such as Bobbi Brown, Clé de Peau Beauté, MAC and Sulwhasoo exclusively in Cambodia at T Galleria by DFS, Angkor.

In addition, shoppers will find a stunning array of products sourced from Cambodia’s top artisans including Angkor Artwork, whose master craftsmen Eric and Thierry Stocker produce lacquer and straw marquetry using traditional techniques, Golden Silk, one of the last fully integrated silk producers in the world to use the rare yellow silkworm indigenous to Cambodia, and Samatoa, an eco-friendly accessories brand that has revived the forgotten technique of lotus fiber weaving.

T Galleria by DFS, Angkor has also teamed up with Artisans d’Angkor, a socially-conscious business aimed at revitalizing Cambodia’s traditional craftsmanship while pioneering a sustainable working environment, to develop an exclusive collection of luxurious handwoven silks and fine crafts. The collection will showcase products that were designed by and will benefit local artisans.

Adding to T Galleria by DFS, Angkor’s appeal as an oasis of calm and tranquility in Siem Reap, the store also offers travelers a respite at its onsite restaurant, Crystal Jade, which will open in June. The first Crystal Jade outlet in Cambodia, the restaurant will serve traditional Chinese cuisine and dim sum delights in a casual yet sophisticated setting, overlooking the gardens and reflecting pools outside.

Siem Reap serves as the gateway to the fabled ruins of Angkor Wat, one of the world’s most important heritage sites. The largest religious monument in the world, the temple was built in the first half of the 12th century and has since become a symbol of Cambodia and its prime tourist attraction. Cambodia has enjoyed a boom in tourism in the last few years, with Siem Reap accounting for almost 70% of the 6 million international travelers estimated to visit Cambodia in 2016.

DFS Group renews its partnership with Make-A-Wish® International

THE LUXURY TRAVEL RETAILER BRINGS JOY TO YOUR WORLD THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

HONG KONG, 2015-11-23 — /EPR Retail News/ — The gift of giving takes on a deeper meaning this holiday season as DFS Group (DFS), the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, renews its partnership with Make-A-Wish® International (www.worldwish.org) for a second year. Throughout the month of December, the #JoyToYourWorld charity campaign by DFS hopes to bring joy to the world of children battling life-threatening medical conditions by helping to grant their special wishes.

“Here at DFS, we’re committed to the communities where we live and work and the holiday season is the perfect time to give back to those in need,” said Jay Frame, DFS Group’s Vice President Corporate Communications and CSR. “We are thrilled to partner with Make-A-Wish International for the second year in a row and share the goodwill of our customers, employees and partners to help these children’s wishes come true.”

Crowdsourcing and social media come together in this charity campaign: DFS customers can help grant wishes by following @DFSOfficial and liking posts tagged with #JoyToYourWorld. For every #JoyToYourWorld post that receives 1,000 “likes,” DFS will donate to Make-A-Wish International to help grant up to nine wishes to children around the globe.

In honor of DFS’ 55th anniversary, 55 celebrity ambassadors have signed up this year to help support the campaign, including past DFS campaign spokespeople Godfrey Gao, Ming Xi, Caroline de Maigret and Perry Liu.

The mission of Make-A-Wish is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since its inception in 1980, Make-A-Wish has collectively granted the wishes of more than 350,000 children in nearly 50 countries. Each wish that comes true inspires these seriously ill children to persevere against their illnesses.

“We are proud to renew our partnership with DFS and its ambassadors this holiday season to help grant even more wishes to deserving children facing serious illnesses,” said Make-A-Wish International President and CEO, Jon Stettner. “It’s through the support of partners like DFS and its customers around the globe that make these life-changing wishes possible.”

Last year, DFS helped to grant wishes to children around Asia like Evan, an eight-year-old from Hong Kong battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia, whose wish to be an astronaut was granted when he attended NASA’s Space Camp in Alabama, US. Or like Mostafa, a 17-year-old from Japan who suffers from congenital biliary atresia and pancreatic cancer, whose wish to be a racecar driver came true when he sat in a Ferrari 138 driven by two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso.

This year, DFS and Make-A-Wish International will grant wishes to children like Wang-yau, a nine-year-old boy from Hong Kong battling spinal muscular atrophy who wishes to travel abroad, or Joanna, a 10-year-old girl from Singapore in treatment for medullablastoma, who wishes to become a pastry chef.
