2016 Price Chopper and Market 32 Bags2Riches contest awards grand prize of $250,000 to Fairfield, Vermont’s Linda Menard

St. Albans, VT, 2016-Apr-24 — /EPR Retail News/ —  Today, the grand prize of $250,000 in the 2016 Price Chopper and Market 32 Bags2Riches contest was awarded to Fairfield, Vermont’s Linda Menard. A small reception was held in her honor at the Price Chopper at 170 Swanton Road/Route 7 in St. Albans, where she does her regular shopping.

Menard’s winning ticket was one of her PIN entries that was drawn from the “Collect to Win Second Chance drawing” component. When asked about her plans for the winnings, Menard said that she will be able to go ahead with a costly surgery and that she is looking into planning a family vacation.

“Congratulations to Linda! We’re so excited that the Bags2Riches grand prize was won by a loyal Price Chopper shopper who can use some of the proceeds to improve her health and quality of life!” said Mona Golub, vice president of public relations and consumer services. “Many are doubtful that real people win this sort of contest, but we’ve had winners of significant prizes in each of the six states in which we operate. Bags2Riches has been a fantastic promotion, both for us and for the nearly 900,000 of our customers who participated and won prizes.”

The Bags2Riches Giveaway ran from January 10 through March 19, 2016. For every $25 spent using an AdvantEdge card at any of the 135 Price Chopper and Market 32’s located throughout the northeast, shoppers received one game ticket. There were three ways to win — the first, one in every three tickets was an instant winner and revealed a free food prize, a discount, gift card prizes, $1,000 cash prizes or $10,000 cash prizes; the second, some tickets revealed a special PIN that could be registered online to win Price Chopper and Market 32 gift cards, free groceries for a year, free gas for a year, cash prizes and more; and the third way to win was to collect related stickers within a specific category.

More than 850,000 Instant Win game tickets were redeemed by customers and more than 2.7 million PINs were entered online. Prizes that were awarded include three $10,000 instant cash prizes, two $20,000 Shopping Sprees, two 2016 Ford Escapes, more than 50 $1,000 instant cash prizes, FREE groceries for a year, FREE gas for a year, hundreds of $50 Price Chopper gift cards, dozens of FREE Redbox for a year, and dozens of $500 Amazon gift cards.
