- Newly Converted Stores Open in Guilderland, Troy and Albany
SCHENECTADY, NY, 2016-Apr-24 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Golub Corporation’s new contemporary, food-focused Market 32 brand has doubled its scope* today, with the revelation of four newly converted Price Chopper Supermarkets in the Capital Region of New York – one, at Hamilton Square in Guilderland, NY; another at Hudson Valley Plaza in Troy, NY, and two in the heart of the City of Albany, on Madison and Delaware Avenues.
A ribbon-cutting and grand re-opening ceremony, that included the presenting of the flag by a color guard from VFW Post 8692, accompanied by the national anthem, was held at the Hamilton Square location, the only one of the new Market 32s to have been closed for 12 weeks during its major remodeling and construction.
Attendees included Golub Corporation Executive Chairman Neil Golub, President & CEO Scott Grimmett, Vice Chairman Jerry Golub, and Store Manager Steve Gumbs; NYS Assembly Member Patricia Fahey, Albany County Executive Dan McCoy, Planning Board Chairman Stephen Feeney, and Zoning Board Chairman Thomas Remmert; Town of Guilderland Supervisor Peter Barber; Capital Region Chamber of Commerce President Chuck Steiner and other elected officials and civic leaders along with Jim Dawsey from MLB Construction Services.
Marked by open space, a décor filled with soft earth tones and product-focused displays, murals and lighting, the Market 32 brand emphasizes convenient, ready-to-eat foods, fresh, handcrafted, and locally grown, produced and manufactured products, and intuitive product/department adjacencies (e.g. greeting cards next to the floral department). An elevated level of customer and signature items throughout the store further differentiate the brand experience.
The Price Chopper in Torrington, CT will be the next to convert to Market 32 by mid-May, and the one in Glenville, NY is readying for conversion. Stores in East Greenbush and Brunswick, NY are currently in the design phase, while a brand new Market 32, being built from the ground up in Oxford, CT, is slated to open this summer. A groundbreaking for the new Market 32 in Ft. Edward, NY will be held in the coming weeks.
*Proof of concept stores opened in Wilton and Clifton Park, NY, and Pittsfield and Sutton, MA in the summer and fall of 2015.
