Sharjah, UAE, 2017-Nov-22 — /EPR Retail News/ — Lulu Group, region’s top retailer has opened its 139th Hypermarket at Buhaira in Sharjah today (21NOV2017). The new Hypermarket was officially inaugurated by H.H. Shaikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairman, Dept. of Government Relations & Member of Sharjah Executive Council. Also present on the occasion were Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman of Lulu Group, Saifee Rupawala, CEO, Ashraf Ali MA Executive Director of Lulu, Salim MA, Director of Lulu and other top officials of the company. A large number of people from different walks of life were also present to witness the inauguration.

After the inauguration Shaikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qassimi and other dignitaries were led on a guided tour of the hypermarket by Yusuffali MA and briefed them about the various sections, unique features and amenities.

DUBAI: Retail major Lulu Group joined the charity drive by partnering with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation to initiate a Ramadan project that aims to distribute shopping cards to deserving Emirati and expatriate families throughout the UAE.

At a press conference held at the Foundation’s head office in Dubai, a Memorandum of Understanding MoU in this regard was signed between Saleh Zaher Al Mazroai, General Manager, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian & Charity Est. and Yusuff Ali M.A, Chairman and Managing Director of Lulu Group in the presence of Birg./ Ali Mohammed Al Shamali , Director of General Department of Correctional Institutions, Mr. Salim MA, Director of Lulu Group and other top officials.

More than 8,000 deserving families in all the seven emirates will be given charity cards during the month of Ramadan. The cards will have denomination amount of Dhs 500 to be redeemed for food products throughout Ramadan at any Lulu group hypermarkets in the country. This is the 10th year of joint initiative being carried out by Lulu Group and Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation together and a total amount of AED 28 million worth of Charity cards has so far been issued including the current year.

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation engages in charity work within and outside the UAE during the Holy Month of Ramadan. As part of its constant drive to deliver necessary support to various segments of the society, funds are offered to needy UAE nationals and residents and to people in a number of friendly countries around the world.

Commenting on this initiative, Saleh Zaher Al Mazroai, General Manager, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian & Charity Est said: “This year more families will benefit from this project and is of great importance to the Foundation as it cooperates with its partners in charity within the UAE for the distribution of the smart cards. Abu Dhabi, UAE, 2017-Apr-26 — /EPR Retail News/ — His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman, Chief Executive of Emirates Airlines & Chairman of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority DSOA, the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis DSO, the integrated free zone technology park, today (19 APR 2017) unveiled the commemorative plaque and laid the foundation stone for Silicon Mall, the new 2.3 million square feet shopping mall by the LuLu Group International LuLu Group, one of the top retailers in the Middle East, at the hi-tech park. The total investment on this new project is expected to be around Dhs. 1 billion.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Mohammed Alzarooni, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DSOA, Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group International as well as senior management from DSOA, and the Lulu Group.

The new hypermarket, located near Fariq bin Omran was inaugurated by the Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem bin Mohammed al-Thani. The 250,000 sq. ft. hypermarket was inaugurated by the Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Tun Razak in the presence of Dato Sri Dr. Ahmed Zahid Hamidi, Dy. Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture, Govt. officials, Ambassadors of UAE and the High Commission of India, and other dignitaries.

The group had recently announced its plans to invest US$ 300 million RM 1.3 billion as part of its expansion and intends to set up 10 hypermarkets in the next 5 years in the country.

LuLu Group donates unclaimed raffle draw prize car to the Emirates Red Crescent

This car, Nissan Pathfinder, was part of the annual raffle draw conducted by LuLu Hypermarket in the UAE and was not claimed by any winner. Setting new precedence in CSR efforts, LuLu Group has decided to donate such raffle prizes in future also to various charitable causes.

The car was handed to Salem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Branch Manager of Red Crescent, by T.P. Abubaker, Regional Director of LuLu Group, at a ceremony held at LuLu Hypermarket, Baniyas, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

LuLu Group launches ‘SAVE WATER & WIN CASH’ project to spread awareness on the importance of water conservation

Abu Dhabi, 2016-Mar-24 — /EPR Retail News/ — On the occasion of World Save Water Day, LuLu Group today launched a very unique reward campaign to spread awareness about the importance of water conservation. The ‘SAVE WATER & WIN CASH’ project was jointly launched by LuLu and Abu Dhabi Distribution Company on 22 March at Khalidiyah Mall in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

As per the details given to the media during the launch function, this campaign will run for 4 months and the winner will be decided as per the savings he/she has made in the ADDC bills for the next 3 months. The person who reduces the maximum water units in the next 3 months will be rewarded with Dhs. 50,000 followed by 2 second prize winners who will get Dhs. 25,000 each and 50 consolation prizes of Dhs. 5000 each.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abubaker T.P., Regional Director of LuLu Group, said “LuLu has always strived to make their CSR campaigns very effective and innovative. We noticed that there is a lot of awareness about saving water, but still many of us don’t follow the practice at our homes. Through this campaign we wish to reward the winners, which is a good incentive for all of us to try hard to save water.”

During the launch function, more than 1000 water conserving devices were also distributed free of cost, which can be easily fitted on taps or showers to reduce wastage.

Humaid Ali Humaid Al Shamsi, Sales Manager of ADDC, who inaugurated the campaign, also spoke highly of this innovative reward program and urged all Abu Dhabi residents to take up this challenge and help in conserving water.

The 119th hypermarket was inaugurated by Khalid Hanafy, Egyptian Minister for Trade, in the presence of Galal El Saeed, Governor of Cairo, Mohamed Abdul Sayed, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Khalifa Thunaiji, Deputy UAE Ambassador to Egypt, and other high ranking government and civil officials. LuLu Group enters Malaysia with its first hypermarket set to open in February 2016 in Kuala Lumpur

ABU DHABI, 2015-11-30 — /EPR Retail News/ — LuLu Group is in the final stages of starting its operations in Malaysia with its first hypermarket set to open in February 2016 in the capital Kuala Lumpur.

Elaborating on the group’s expansion plans during an official luncheon hosted by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in honour of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, Yusuffali M.A., chairman and managing director of Lulu Group, said: “We plan to initially invest $300 million in rolling out 10 hypermarkets in the next two years and gradually expand to all parts of Malaysia. Today the whole world knows about Malaysia’s economic stability, investor-friendly approach, liberalised policies and world-class infrastructure and we are confident about our success here.”

LuLu, which currently operates 118 hypermarkets and shopping malls in the Middle East and India, offers world-class shopping experience, highest-quality products, competitive prices and excellent customer service. Global consultancy firm Deloitte ranked Lulu among the top 10 fastest-growing retailers in the world.

“Our hypermarkets encompass both supermarket and department store formats and we intend to bring a whole new world of shopping to the residents of Malaysia,” Yusuffali said.

During Razak’s visit to UAE last year, he had personally visited Lulu Hypermarket in Abu Dhabi and had shown much appreciation for store quality, product range and especially the various Malaysian products being sold there.

LuLu is also one of the biggest importers of Malaysian agricultural products and non-food products to the Middle East.

Agreements have already been finalised with prominent retail developers such as Greenhill Resources for Setia City Mall and KLIA Properties for their new project in Bangi, PNB Commerce Perling Mall in Johar Baru. Other hypermarkets will come up in Kalandhan Kotabaru, Shaa Aalam, Ippoh, Malaka, Penang and Kuala Tringanu.

The work on other hypermarkets has already started.
