CBL Properties to close on Thanksgiving Day

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., 2017-Oct-12 — /EPR Retail News/ — CBL Properties (NYSE:CBL) announced today that their portfolio of market-dominant regional shopping centers will close on Thanksgiving Day and open at 6:00 a.m. on Black Friday, November 24th.

Record setting online sales and strong in-store traffic mark start of Target’s holiday season

MINNEAPOLIS, 2015-11-27 — /EPR Retail News/ — Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) today reported a successful start to its Black Friday weekend, with unprecedented results on Target.com and a strong turnout in stores on Thanksgiving Day.

“Target got a head start going into Black Friday with the record-breaking launch of Adele’s new album and our ‘10 Days of Deals’ promotion. The momentum continued with our Black Friday presale, and on Thanksgiving, we saw millions of shoppers take advantage of great offers online and in our stores. Overall, the response from our guests has been very positive, with some of the best days we’ve seen on Target.com,” said Brian Cornell, Chairman of the Board and CEO Target, who greeted holiday shoppers at the Jersey City Target Store in New Jersey on Thanksgiving. “We expect to see the demand continue throughout the weekend and into December as we offer more savings on the year’s most popular gifts, including Star Wars and Apple products.”

“10 Days of Deals” and Black Friday Pre-Sale

Target’s “10 Days of Deals” began Sunday, Nov. 22, giving guests daily offers, including 10 percent off electronics and 20 percent off kitchenware. As part of the promotion, Target brought back the Black Friday pre-sale on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Sales were strong with the most popular items being Apple Watch and Apple iPads, Beats Solo 2 headphones, FitBit Charge HR and the Philips Sonicare 2 electric toothbrush.

Thanksgiving Day Access to Black Friday Sale

Guests were granted early access to nearly all of Target’s doorbusters on Target.com beginning Thanksgiving morning. Demand outpaced 2014’s record Thanksgiving performance, making it Target’s biggest day for online sales yet, driven largely by electronics.

Guests also continued to use the Order Pickup option at Target.com. Before 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, the number of orders placed for in-store pick up increased by 35 percent as compared to 2014.

Top selling Black Friday items:

  • Apple iPads were top sellers in stores and online. On average, Target sold an iPad every second throughout the day on Thanksgiving. Apple Watch was especially popular in stores.
  • Gaming consoles were popular in stores and online, including Nintendo Wii U, which was the top selling item on Target.com.
  • TVs were one of most sought after items in stores— the 55” Westinghouse at $249.99 was Target’s top selling TV.
  • Movies were a big hit in stores with guests buying more than 3 million on Thanksgiving.
  • A three-foot stuffed teddy bear, priced at $10, was a surprise hit, with some stores selling out in minutes.
  • Top toys included LEGO, Barbie, Disney Princess and Star Wars. Target exclusives generated nearly one-third of Star Wars toy sales for the day.
  • Beats Solo 2 headphones were one of the top sellers on Target.com and in stores at $96.99 (reg. $199.99).

The Savings Continue—Spend $75, Get 20 Percent Off

Target’s “10 Days of Deals” continues through Tuesday, Dec. 1. Today, guests who spend $75 or more receive a 20 percent discount to use toward a future purchase on any day between Dec. 4 and Dec. 13. Additional offers include:

  • Saturday, Nov. 28: $50 off holiday shop purchase of $100 more
  • Sunday, Nov. 29: Buy two, get one free action figures and fashion dolls

Santafest
Belk kicks off the holiday season each year with its Santafest event in all stores. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., 2015-11-10 — /EPR Retail News/ — Meijer is once again announcing aggressive pricing on turkeys that are expected to lead the Midwest in low-price Thanksgiving turkeys.

“A Thanksgiving meal isn’t complete without the turkey, and with these great prices, Meijer wants to ensure that our customers can provide their families with the best holiday experience,” said Jerry Suter, vice president of meat and seafood. “Not only is Meijer able to deliver a delicious meal to our customers, but we’re able to do so at a tremendous value.”

For the second consecutive year, when a Meijer customer spends $20, their purchase of any fresh or frozen turkey – regardless of brand or size – will be 50 percent off. The discount on frozen turkeys is going on now through Thanksgiving Day, while the discount on fresh turkeys will begin Nov. 15 and run through Thanksgiving Day.

That means Meijer brand frozen turkeys will be priced at 52 cents per pound. Meijer will also carry organic turkeys in each of its 223 stores across the Midwest.

Meijer expects to sell 1 million turkeys this year; 75 percent are typically purchased in the five days leading up to Thanksgiving. Last year, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer sold 900,000 turkeys.

“But the savings don’t stop there,” Suter said. “We have all the staples to help our customers make a memorable – and affordable – Thanksgiving meal to share with family and friends.”

Meijer is once again preparing for high sales of premade Thanksgiving dinners for those who want the traditional holiday meal without the time spent in the kitchen. Customer demand for premade meals at Thanksgiving is a trend that has been growing for the last several years for individuals looking for convenience or as a great gifting solution by companies, clubs and organizations.

A deluxe turkey dinner costs $54.99-$59.99, depending on the market, and includes a 10-12 pound prebaked turkey, home-style stuffing, roasted turkey gravy, cranberry salad, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and a dozen Kings Hawaiian dinner rolls. A castle featuring Build-A-Bear’s icon, Bearnard, serves as the centerpiece, complete with a friendly, smoke-breathing dragon climbing up to see a Princess Bear, who showers the crowds with confetti. The sides of the float feature different scenes of wonder and adventure including a classic teddy-bear tea party, as well as a trip to outer space on a rocket ship manned by an Astronaut Bear, who turns his head to gaze upon the world as he flies into the air with bouncing stars.

More than 50 million viewers tune in to watch the magic of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade each year. The latest design from Build-A-Bear is one of only five new floats that will take part in this year’s event.
