PHOENIX, 2015-11-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — More than 20,000 pets found their forever homes last week during PetSmart’s National Adoption Week held at the more than 1,400 PetSmart stores across the U.S. and Canada. The week-long event is conducted in collaboration with PetSmart Charities and its adoption partners – comprising more than 3,000 local animal shelters and pet adoption organizations.
PetSmart congratulates Fort Worth, Texas, which was named the “furriendliest” U.S. city during the adoption week with the most pet adoptions. The Fort Worth area’s local adoption partners helped find lifelong, loving homes for 217 cats and dogs. A total of 1,642 pets were adopted across the top 10 U.S. cities, with Texan cities – Fort Worth, Houston, Dallas – leading the top three with a combined 605 total pet adoptions.
Based on PetSmart Charities’ November National Adoption Week data, the top 10 cities with the most pet adoptions were:
1. Fort Worth, Texas (217 adoptions)
2. Houston, Texas (197 adoptions)
3. Dallas, Texas (191 adoptions)
4. Oklahoma City, Okla. (183 adoptions)
5. Gainesville, Fla. (171 adoptions)
6. Tucson, Ariz. (170 adoptions)
7. Columbia, Md. (135 adoptions)
8. Littleton, Colo. (132 adoptions)
9. Evansville, Ind. (125 adoptions)
10. Phoenix, Ariz. (121 adoptions)
