Cedar Crest Specialties recalls its Pirate’s Bounty ice cream due to possible contamination of Listeria

St. Louis, MO, 2016-Nov-17 — /EPR Retail News/ — Cedar Crest Specialties, Inc. is recalling its Pirate’s Bounty ice cream from six Schnucks stores because cookie dough pieces contained in the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and other with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. To date, there have been no consumer complaints or reports of illness related to this product.

Customers of the six Schnucks stores listed below are urged to check their freezers for:
